I appreciate that Volvo continued the existing style in the electric version. It's a no nonsense approach.

“Nonsense” fossil body. ID.3/ID.4 remove that long front and offer you more space inside the car - that fossil body is nonsense.
I think her strong nordic accent actually makes this even more convincing.

Love love love volvo. I'm on my 2nd volvo and the electric one will be my 3rd one. Love that I can park it in my garage and not worry about carbon monoxide getting into the house.

Volvo never fails to amaze. I highly appreciate all the respective seniors of their concerned department coming out to talk about the features themselves rather than subordinating on their juniors. This car has the potential to rise up to the top of electric cars world.
Great video & update, although please edit your videos to censure a portion of the "Hey Google" command. David Holecek's segment activates viewers' Google devices each time he says the command, interrupting the video & making it difficult to watch.
I decided against buying an ICE XC40 in the states earlier this year in favor of a Tesla Model Y for sustainability reasons, but I might cancel my Model Y order if the US release date is revealed before I take delivery in August. The XC40 is much more functional and the build/production quality will be superior in the near term until Tesla improves their production process. Another reason I didn't purchase the XC40 was because no dealerships had a model with the adaptive suspension to test drive.
I can’t wait to see it in real life. Especially the android interface. I do have the xc40 inscription. But this hasn’t the Android interface. And it is a Diesel engine, not an electric one. I love this thing. Greetings from one of the Volvo factory locations. (Ghent, Belgium)

My only annoyance with this great car is that the interior is only available in all black. Volvo are known for their beautiful light interiors and I wish I could have that in my XC40 Recharge

From what was stated here, this seems like a solid comparison to the 2016 Tesla Model X. This car will likely do well in Europe.

Im 14 and My Mom have had The same car my whole life almost. Its The same age AS me 6 months after my birthday. We are Looking on a new car and i would like a Volvo. I have showed her sooooo many vids about The XC family and mostly the XC40. I think its Looking good and that this car will be our new car. OMG.. why was the release so quiet.. I’m recommending this to my sister .. your choices are limited when you need to pay £15 congestion charge, and as this is a Volvo, the decision is easy.

I was hoping the 19” wheels would just be a smaller version of the stylish 20” wheels. They don’t look as attractive, but I’ll reserve final judgment until I see them on the vehicle. My Model Y test drive is 2 days from now. I can’t wait to test drive the Recharge, too, though!

I hope that the Google options are only thought as an option one may choose and not obligatory as I don't like the idea of being tracked down by Google and I don't want to give them any information on where I go, when and how I get where I go to!
We will never share data arbitrarily with any third party, including Google. Data sharing will always be opt-in for the customer, meaning the customer has to actively say yes to sharing data for a specific purpose. Some services will require data sharing to work (e.g. location for maps).
We will offer three options for customers. For the most personalised experience, customers will need to share data in order for the services to work. Customers can also choose not to share any data with Google, and as a result the Google services will not work, but you can use the car otherwise. As a middle step, customers can elect to use a guest profile in the car and share data with Google. The data shared with Google will in this instance not be tied directly to a specific individual. The choice is the customer’s.

Great presentation! Even though I like Apple IOS much better than Google/Android. Nevertheless I will certainly adapt to it and Apple Car Play works fine. I‘m eagerly waiting for delivery of my new Volvo XC40 Pure Electric, hopefully in May this year!

You will still be able to use Apple Carplay, as well as Android Auto.
Love it how Volvo's EV-retrofitted ICE car also has frunk. Also not really digging the grill part but this in black is the way to go for me
When is the XC60 and XC90 recharge coming? I love the XC40, but I like bigger SUV's.
We can't tell you about what products we will be releasing during the coming years, but we can tell you that we plan to release one fully-electric vehicle every year until 2025. So stay put 😉

Love the XC40, I already have one and would love to have a Recharge P8 but to be honest, the price at the moment is just too high.
My last 13 cars have been new Volvos, my next car was looking like a Tesla Model Y, now I’ve got something to compare that to....still leaning towards the Tesla but if the Volvo is priced correctly it will be considered.....

We have opened a regional in-house battery centre in Gothenburg, Sweden. The purpose of the battery center is to extend the lifecycle of batteries used in its electrified cars as much as possible. It is also establishing similar regional battery centres in the US and China, as part of our ambition to be a fully circular business by 2040.
when does volvo come with 2.4L, 2.6L or 3.0L?
Never, the bigger 5 and 6cyl engines are all discontinued and will not come back.

Yes, the maximum reach of the XC40 Recharge is +400km. As we recommend to only charge the battery to 80%, this gives a reach of +320km.
This is ostensibly about the all-electric BEV, but some pictures are clearly from the PHEV.
Can you upgrade existing XC40's with Google assistant or a better UI? I'm an engineer and the dashboard navigation is too hard to navigate, not intuitive at all. Brilliant car otherwise so far.

Despite Im not not a fan of SUV hype this car is a proper EV with all parameters as it should be. Except absent autopilot and Supercharging network this is on par with Tesla Y and more friendly car for entry to the EVs world for more conservative brand followers. 😉

I thought polestar was the electric brand for Volvo.
Volvo Cars and Polestar are two separate brands and companies. Polestar is a new progressive electric performance car brand that is 50% owned by Volvo Cars. Both Volvo Cars and Polestar are part of Volvo Car Group.

Wait a minute... The "C30 Electric" wasn't pure electric? What was it then?
It had an ethanol (E85) based auxiliary heater. So you had to fill up the 15 l big tank at a gas station once and a while.

Vikingz. not really, build quality is appalling on a Tesla, and it’s a gimmick company, if Tesla could sort that out and start making practical cars for everyday use then they would be onto a winner, at the moment they will be successful as they make cars for non car lovers, and there are a lot of those out there, but not as many as real car drivers that buy cars for a purpose
Robbie Surfer, Tesla’s build quality as far as fit and finish go isn’t as good as most other manufacturers, that’s true, but it’s not appalling as you say. And if you look from a pure engineering point of view, they are a head in more categories then they are behind on. regarding practical cars, I would say Tesla makes the most practice cars in the electric segment, more range, highest safety ratings, best charging network, exceptional performance and simple to use features. As far as cars for car lovers, once you drive electric, you will love it. Regardless of the brand. It looks like Volvo has made a good EV. One I will certainly look at next time I’m in the market.

I wait for V40 or XC40 plug-in hybryde with 2.0 benzine motor and an electric with 20kw battery for 100km range. This will be a perfect car for me. Now i have V40 2.0D2(disel)and i will change only for the car what i was written in the begining. I have to travel 10-12 times a year 1300km, and with only electric car i will drive half of the year 😂😂😂NL-PL. And i will need a self towing car driving after me 😂😂. 100km range for hybrid is perfect for people who drive every day +-50km(what we mostly do in NL)one way to work, and can every night charge battery at home, or every day at work for free 😉😅. XC40 or XC60 is a beautiful car 😍.
