Kanye West Yeezus Hip Hop Breakdown
Bandstand Hot Hip Hop Rap Samples
Kanye's use of samples is perfect.
i think it might be arca behind the sampling
feliciasteaparty it’s not that easy. he is the best sampler because of how he incorporates by every genre, yet it still sounds like Kanye
Spazus “he is the best sampler”. Bitch please. Someone’s never heard of Madlib...
@@andyc6542 top 2
Andy C Madlib is not that good of a sampler he just picks the best samples to loop
The fact Black Skinhead has no sample is just mind blowing to me
or theyre too hard to find
@@sarojrawat7899 no it does not
it does, it samples Posthuman by Marilyn Manson
sounds like he sampled the breakdown at 2:15 in Personal Jesus or at least interpolated it
The drums sample Marilyn Manson's Beautiful People
Yeezus will forever be underrated
people will understand how great the album is in a few years
every ye album was ahead of it’s time besides pablo imo
Not underrated just overhated
Took me years how good it was, since I hated it when it came out. Definitely ahead of its time
Def my fav Kanye album. Only album of his that I actually really loved. Not bc it was "ahead if it's time" or "experimental", I didn't think it was any of those things (okay, for a hip hop album from a mainstream artist, yeah it was experimental, but not really forward thinking or experimental to anyone who listens to "underground/indie" hip hop). I did love that he was taking less commercial, more experimental sounds, and thrusting them into the mainstream, however. That he was able to take a lot of atonal and abrasive instrumentation and sampling, and make a hit record, really pleased me. That said, I've always wondered where it would be if not a Kanye album. Would it have gotten a lot more love from some factions if not Kanye? I think, yes. Would it have been hated by the mainstream, never gone anywhere, been merely an indie/underground hip hop classic, or possibly even just gone nowhere, if not a Kanye album? Well, I really think all of those things are possible, though I'd like to think the later of those wouldn't be the case (could have been, though). Yeezus was a Kanye record, though, so all that speculation is irrelevant, if not interesting. Nobody should be surprised, given it's brave-for-mainstream sound, that it had so many haters, but in my irrelevant opinion, it was his greatest, even edging out his other brilliant (brace-for-mainstream) record, MBDTF. Anyway, thanks for the vid, as always dude. I love getting these OG tracks. Great music!
Kaizer-Man
Pretty much yeah. I really enjoy it honestly. Not his best, but enjoyable.
"he'll give us what we need, it may not be what we want"
in my opinion, kanye's best ever sample. describes his artistry perfectly.
I think it really is exactly what people thought of from this album at first. Like people needed an another Kanye album after the "masterpiece" that was MBDTF, but a lot of people didn't want Kanye to do what he did on Yeezus and I definetly think Kanye was aware of that. It was on the first song of the album too so to me it just makes me feel like he was straight up telling everybody that it may not what they would want
it's also his best album opener of all time. Yeezus is the complete opposite of MBDTF which is his most maximalistic work. The first second of On Sight removes any previous expectations regarding the album with abrasive synthesizers that leaves the listener dumbfounded. Imo the way the sample was used was genius to me. Kanye is doing less to achieve more in this album which is the reason why some of the samples aren't tweaked as much as MBDTF.
@@future3438 And Daft Punk produced the intro to on sight!
He knew what he was doing
He never used the sample actually, the original lyrics are different so he got a choir to remake it, he changed the lyrics to “it may not be what we want” cuz he knew it would get hate at first and people would like it after
the omega sample has to be one of my favourites this decade
lewis it’s fucking amazing
I’ve been listening t it over and over, especially after the mid90s trailer
Yeah we hungarians have a lot of underrated and/or unknown amazing artists!

Lewis Man when that part always comes in with frank crooning takes me to another dimensions man.
Types of people that tend to hate on the Yeezus album
1. Kanye fans who couldn't handle him doing something different.
2. Death Grips/Industrial music elitists who are butt-hurt that a "mainstream" artist like Kanye was able to take the underground gritty industrial sound put a poppy accessible twist on it and get a tone of critical acclaim
3. Dudes that just parrot whatever Theneedledrops opinions are. "its basically deathgrips even though only 2 of the 10 tracks sound remotely like them" headasses.
Hmm, maybe they want good experimental albums like Deltron 3030 or Paul's Boutique. Fuck Fantano, btw.
Those are both amazing seminal albums but as experimental as they are they still very much have a boombap feel, I'm talking more so along the lines of Experimental elitists who say YEEZUS is not REEL experimental Hip Hop yet jack off to Run the jewels and Clpping and claim your out of the loop for thinking differently.
Dude, Deltron 3030 has opera sound, what is more experimental than that? Yeezus is experimental but not a good one,Deltron is classic.
LOL U clearly didnt read my comment properly I was talking about the Type of people who spew elitist views regarding YEEZUS never usually bring up experimental albums with boombap influences from the 80s and 90s like Delton, Pauls boutique or even company flow (All experimental classics not denying that) its usually Fantano heads that say shit like "clpping and Run the jewels is how U make Reel Induswuol Hip Hap not like YEEZUS" . Thats what I was alluding to.
P.S Completely unrelated but IMO Run The Jewels is overrated beyond words I mean Killer Mike and El P are bonafied Legends individually but as a collective not so much.
I repeat; Deltron 3030 has opera sound more than boom-bap and Yeezus is experimental album but Yeezus is not a good experimental album. At least for me. I disagree "RTJ is overrated" opinion tho.
the New Slaves outro and sample is just perfect, like it's actually perfect. One of the most beautiful pieces of music I've ever heard.

Probably cuz he mostly lets the sample play out by itself

@DJ Killer Keemstar how so ?
@DJ Killer Keemstar garbage take
How the hell did he find that soundcloud song that New Slaves sampled?
hes Yeezus
It was actually a demo that he asked for, before Yeezus. The creator of the song thought it would be going toward Cruel Winter, hence the name of the song, but Kanye just used the opening few seconds.
Didn't Yeesus have like 20 different producers? That's lot of people looking for cool samples.

That’s why he’s the 🐐
Blood On The Leaves so GOAT
most underrated track ever
Gotta be the most overrated Kanye song I’ve heard
Steasy1337 worst song on the album
Imo

YESSSSS
Damn, I thought that Jamaican artist speaking on “I Am a God” did it specifically for Yeezus, I had no idea it was a sample but Kanye makes samples sound like they were created specifically for the track he made, that’s a part of his genius
Bound 2 is a top 5 best kanye song but people hate it cause of the music video
i really like the last part but most of the song is just incoherent rambling. I actually quite like the video it's iconic af
Personally, I can't stand the "huh huh honey". It's such a weird sample.
Eh, even before I saw the music video I thought that track was kind of whack, especially the lyrics
There’s a lot better songs on Yeezus with better production, On Sight, Guilt Trip, New Slaves, etc

Didn't like Yeezus much at all at first but after a couple listens it's infectious. You just have to appreciate it for its minimalism and its qualities begin to show themselves.
Daft Punk in a nutshell.
Imo yeezus and tlop are like brothers just that yeezus is minimalist and dat tlop is maximalist both being great ass albums tho
@@butterface2005 idk tlop uses minimalism too for a lot of it, I'd still say 808s is his most minimalist album overall though
Makes sense since ye reached out to rick rubin to complete the album
@@butterface2005 Tlop's not maximalist though, a lot of the songs sound deliberately unfinished or spacy. Plus it's kinda like Tyler the Creator's CMIYGL where it's an album that sounds like a mixtape because of how varied the songs are. MBDTF is maximalist and you could probably call albums like Late Registration and Graduation maximalist as well.
Also, just to be clear I think TLOP is awesome, like a 9-9.5
Reminder that Daft Punk produced 40% of Yeezus.
*Co-produced. West and others still played a big part in those songs
travis scott actually helped kanye with some beats

DeeJayCee I fucking hate Yeezus, that shit was hard to listen to. Too much autotune, obnoxious beats, and horrible Lyrics
Yeah I love it. What's your least favorite song on it though? Mine would be Bound 2
DeeJayCee you must be special
Your Grandson I honestly thought people would be used to Kanye West using autotune. I think he uses it fairly well in this album. Not as well as in songs like "Lost in the World" or anything off of 808s and Heartbreak.
Its an amazing album but it was too soon to release it
Yeezus was one of kanyes greatest albums ever.. People just weren't ready for the new sound that it brought to music
Anthony Valadez Ever heard of Death Grips
Klasse death grips doesn’t have psychedelic guitar build ups, introspection, and melodic breakdowns. The only similarity is the punk influences and distortion which they didn’t invent. And I’m sorry but yeezus is way better produced than anything death grips has made
@@neighbor472 death grips has produced godly things
neighb0r this definitely ain’t it chief
@@neighbor472 Beware by DG has those build ups
okay here is the real question. where does he find the samples he uses? my man has literally cultivated every genre from every generation and blended them perfectly together. 🐐
producer list is extensive. I wouldn’t assume kanye found & blended everything. Collaborative effort
Its called cratedigging
It’s called being open to different types of music
Like someone said it's cratedigging. There are people who just buy and listen to a bunch of albums and have cool samples or give vinyls to other producers to find samples themselves. Also Kanye usually works with a lot of producers so they most likely already have a collection of cool samples that they have
Kanye's Yeezus period is my own personal favorite. Very experimental and influential music and fashion being crafted during this era from Kanye.
Agreed. I love that album so much.
Big ass facts
Yeezus is STILL my favorite Kanye album. He went against the grain.

Yeezus is basically Kanye West version of bittsm by Travis Scott
I love Death Grips but Yeezus is not comparable to Death Grips aside from the fact that they both draw from industrial sounds. DG is more visceral, pure-energy, all over the place. Yeezus uses these sounds in a subdued, beautiful, minimal way.

Arca is an amazing producer. She's the reason I actually listened to Yeezus, and i'm glad I did.
FRANK OCEAN IS ON NEW SLAVES WTH 😭
The I Am A God Jamaican sample is by far my most favorite of Kanye’s. Every time I hear it, I’m just in awe. The way he elevated a little-known club vocal into something so massive, so cerebral, and almost transcendent, it’s so hard to describe the sheer depth and beauty of this song. It’s breathtaking, and it shows just how true it is that Kanye is a creative genius
Man these videos make me appreciate all the songs more.
I don't even mind this album. I like tracks like "Black Skinhead" "New Slaves" and "Bound 2". This album gets too much hate. I think it's better than 808s and Heartbreak by Far.

Yeezus is an astounding album for me
the reason this album is my favorite is cause it scares me and makes me feel relaxed at the same time(it gives me goosebumps). and it’s something that i feel is kinda overlooked in this album.
I had always been a fan of rock and metal music especially industrial rock like Nine inch Nails so I immediately loved Yeezus. Come to think about it, it was kinda dumb that a whole lot of Ye fans thought he would do a MBDTF 2 and I'm here like "why the heck did u expect Ye to do the same sound again?? He's always evolving so don't expect him to do the same album twice in a row"
I remember as a kid I had this album on replay I didn’t grasp the full concepts yet but it sounded great and had the best one liners but now this is definitely my favorite album period it’s like Ye’s whole discography was building to this Amazing samples and futuristic 3005 sounds all in one album 🐐
It took a while but Yeezus has grown on me the last few years. Ye spliced so many samples and created a dope piece work with an aggressive, minimalistic undertone.
I just love how watching all these sample videos make you excited about those albums again and you just wanna go back and listen to them! Going back to Yeezus🔥My last stop was MBDTF
Yeezus is, was and always will be Kanye's best work. Shit aged like wine

my all time favorite ones which still gives me chills everytime are the childrens choir on on sight and the guitar with kanye singing outro to new slaves. love those
Thank you for doing these. Don't want it to end with the life of pablo
It’s sad that there are some people only look surface deep into some music.
I don’t think the album was ever meant to hit the ears softly and attract major attention. This album was meant to be rough, energetic, emotional and provocative. This album is the contrast of albums like college dropout, it kinda shows we all have a sinful side and that life is wild and unpredictable, like the sound of the album.
That’s album taught me that we all interpret the world differently. We have to be open minded and really listen to the music even if it doesn’t sound traditional or we may not understand what is being said at the moment. Some music starts to make more sense over time with life experience and that is the kind of music I love.
I Am A God feels literally apocalyptic everytime I listen to it, idk how to explain it cause I ain't no expert but I hope someone else knows what I mean.
Basically, Kanye thinks that he’s a god, hence why he keeps giving commands. And the reason he screams at the end is because he’s panicking about his godly appearance getting destroyed
Este hombre podria sacar una canción de 1960 y volverla una obra maestra
