  • Follow along with us as we share with you our experience of owning and operating the new all electric Ford E-Transit van. We aren't paid automotive reviewers. We're real customers who paid about $56,000 for our E-Transit. So we have real expectations that the van needs to live up to. In this video, we discuss the range and other characteristics that make the E-Transit unique and also a perfect fit for us!
So far, we are absolutely loving our E-Transit. It's performing better than expected and saving us a ton of money of fuel. We rarely drive over 70 miles per day so there's zero range anxiety. We know we have plenty of range to complete our daily driving needs and we recharge nightly on a Ford Level 2 Connected Charger. So we start each day with a full charge.
Our van also has the Ford Pro Power Pack which allows us to plug in tools while we work and cordless tool batteries while we drive from job to job.
We have done several other videos about the E-transit including a few range videos where we start the day with a full charge and run it completely to zero miles remaining. One range video was with the empty van as it came from the factory. Another range video was with the van loaded down with our standard truck stock, tools and shelving.

Very informative RUclips channel on the E-Transit this is very good stuff to know for contractors like myself I have a electrical company and this channel has been the best that I have found that isn't endorsed by Ford .I went today to go test drive one it was a nice ride it se to start to slow down as soon as you let of the gas pedal which I would think would cut down on the brakes pads needing g to be replaced as often as well as no oil changes.

So great to hear the opinions from people who are not professional reviewers and are just living and using the vehicles day to day. Even reviewers who try to do "real world tests" will never get the true experience of long term ownership. Keep on truckin!
Your assessment of vehicle weight vs. wind resistance is spot on. Weight becomes more a factor in frequent start/stop driving at low speeds (e.g. neighborhood deliveries) and when driving to higher elevations (up and down mountains), but once you're rolling, you're rolling.
The power needed to overcome air resistance scales with the CUBE of speed - double the speed means EIGHT TIMES the power draw, and this obviously chews into your range, but the cooling system is working harder and the efficiency of the motor and battery drop slightly under high power which is just salt in the wound. If you do a lot of highway driving, going 60 instead of 65 can make a noticeable difference in range for any EV... probably more so for a brick on wheels!

It would have very minimal driving. A few miles a day. But those outlets would theoretically be powering the camper part. The van will last quite a while running Barber style equipment like clippers. It's a cargo unit so the AC is really only ducted for the front driver's area but you might be able to make something work. There are two outlets in the rear and there is one outlet on the inside of the passenger seat. It's a 20 amp circuit that runs those outlets so I doubt you'll overload it. I've run a drain auger for 3 hours straight and it did not take very many miles off of the range.
