Just tested something very similar to this on a friends radio (Also FS-i6). Can confirm that it works flawlessly with TBS Crossfire. I did something like this about 3 years ago to a old Turnigy radio;)

that great you did it,, im using frsky dht module in fs-i6 its super simple to add ppm wire and +- and ready to go, but you need to cut power wire for existing stock module otherwise it will suck battery quick.
Crossfire with i6s please???

Hi! I did it yesterday. Its work fine. How to switch between two modules? I would like to use both modules with two receivers and i would like to choose between with a switch. Like Frsky Taranis x9e.
