Gloriousum was my first fav philo, we’ve been through A lot together and she’s finally pushed out her most beautiful leaf . It’s a long story lol . I couldn’t give up she’s a beauty tfs new sub 🌱 I recently got the Glorious but she’s a baby . I want a Gloriousum, Pastazanum little indoor jungle for myself 🫶🌱 My Pasta is exploding finally 😇 Yes I’m constantly checking the humidity in my house and humidifier going non stop keeping it around 70% with a fan lightly blowing on them .
.. I just bought one.. I said that no way I wanted a crawler, no matter what.. But I forgot to check before I bought it.. I just fell in love with the leaves 😳☺️ bugger.. But it's here, and I've had it for about a week now.. It was very well watered, even way more than it should, so I just let it sit in the nursing pot, thinking it would take quite some time before I needed to water.. I'm not sure of why, but when you talked about soil I went to check my Gloriosum, and the soil was some sort of black clump soil with nothing else.. When removing the soil it was damp and almost half the roots fell off it too 😳 Now it is in a terracotta pot with my aroid mix.. I really hope it survives, also since it has a new leaf coming..
Thank you for this insightful video. I just got a chonk that’s about to open its first leaf. I’m in Vegas, so 28% humidity is a good day for me. The mother lives in Vegas too so I may be okay. Great tip using a makeup brush! 💚😎💚
Found your video just today. Dont worry about electricty. 15W grow light will cost you around 10 bucks per year :) Check how much you pay for 1 Kilowatt of electricity. 15w grow light 12hr a day will eat +- 50Kilowats of electricty. Here in my country (EU) 1kw costs 0.18eur so thats 9,40eur :))
So glad I found ur video. Bought a plant on sale @ Menards. No label. No name. 😅 I had to find it on web. Then I found ur video. I have no green thumb. But I think plants make ur home look and feel more relaxing. I think I picked the wrong first plant to start with. But I'm here. And I'm not going to let Phil down. Yes, I named him Phil 😂. Phil will live and I will be a proud momma
I just got a gloriosum last week and this is really helpful. I'm wondering if you could train it to be in a round pot. It just seems like you would run out of room pretty quickly in a rectangular one. Thoughts?
Thanks :) and of course! I've not got a triostar at the moment but if I ever get one I'll be sure to make a care video on them! Thanks for the suggestion!
.. I've got one, and she's doing perfectly fine really, even though she is not at all where she was supposed to be.. She came in a very small nursery pot sticking out the feet from the bottom, and though she looked perfectly fine, I checked her rootball after 6 months and knew it was time, so I gave her a new 15 cm orchid pot and my aroid mix.. She was sitting on my dresser in the bedroom, in the corner (by accident actually), with a little lamp and calathea Freddie one one side and ikea mini greenhouse and a couple of other plants on the other side of her.. But she seemed happy there, so I let her stay there.. Above their heads there's two smaller shelves, two grow lights, and then with a wee little luck, light from the window (west side) when the sun is shining.. But she seems happy with it all and growing as if conditions were absolutely perfect.. Once a month I take her (and all the other plants) to the kitchen and clean all her leaves, one by one, with a microfiber cloth damp with neemoil solution.. I water when her pot is dry little more than halfway, and then I let her stay in the sink to let out all excess water.. .. It is supposed to be bright indirect light, a higher humidity and a very steady temperature.. But that's not where live, it's the complete opposite going up and down like a yoyo.. I only live across the pond from @Good Growing, so we share the weather more or less 😊
Hi!! Love your channel. I went back to some of your older videos. Do you still use liquid gold leaf for plants in leca? And do you know where I can find that in the US? Thx girl!
Hey thanks!! I do still use Liquid Gold Leaf for everything but have transitioned away from leca to pon instead. I don't think they sell in the US though as they're UK based... sorry!
what do you use for pest repellent? I have a spray that I use with all my plants, but if it doesn't like it's leaves to be sprayed do you recommend something else? :)
If it’s for pests I’ll defo spray it. It just doesn’t like water sitting on it’s leaves for long periods which can happen if you spray indoors without ventilation. But anything you’re doing with pest stuff should be done in a ventilated area
they're so amazing huh! the glorious is probably my all time favourite philodendron. It's just so perfect! and thanks for subbing :) I hope you continue to enjoy :)
I bought a Gloriosum, 3 leaves with a new one on the way. Could not figure out how to plant the thing. Contacted the seller. She said to plant it upright. Looks like it wants to climb, but I guess it will figure itself out. Any thoughts?
Philodendron gloriosum likes to crawl. However, philodendron glorious likes to climb, they're both quite similar and often get confused with each other. I initially thought they were the same plant... If you think yours seems to try and climb, maybe you got a glorious?
thanks Emma! I so so want one but am still trying to figure out if I would get a more mature one or a smaller one - any indication on how long it takes to mature?
I waited three years to get one and im not sure how to take care of it. I watered it when it arrived because it was kinda dry, the stems are kinda straightening out (they were a little droopy prior). I touched the stem for the first time today and it seems to be flexible and able to bend? Im used to a stem like the philodendron goeldi which is very hard and firm. Is it normal for the stem to be malleable somewhat? I dont think tis mushy as in it rots or anythign but I just never touched the stem before until today
If you use lechuza pon, it has slow release fertiliser in it already that will last about 6 months. After that period, or if you use soil ninja's semi-hydro, you can add more slow release or use a liquid fertiliser suitable for semi-hydro. I typically do the latter as i find it easier to remember
Soil can hold on to too much water because a lot of times it has a peat moss base in it but when you use pon or something airy like perlite it allows air to reach the roots much better. Self watering pots when used with soil can also work as well since it’s almost like bottom watering your plant. The soil soaks up what it needs to hydrate and then the water level will drop so the roots and soil aren’t sitting in a pool of water. With Cache pots it doesn’t allow for the soil to really dry out or rid itself of excess water and can keep it overly moist and the roots are more susceptible to rot because they cant really breathe. Hopefully that’s a bit helpful.
yes to everything Stephanie said, and also for most self watering pots, the reservoir is below the bottom of the substrate so the plant isn't actually sitting in the reservoir. The water is being brought up by the substrate to the roots as they need it

sounds like the ideal environment for them! Glad to hear you're getting along with your gloriosum now too!
cant wait for mine to get as big! itès my fave and was on my wish list for so long, bough it as one leaf, and already has 3 with a 4th on the way!☺
Amazing that it's grown so much since you got it! I'm sure it'll be huge before you know it!

Yeah if it's used to lower humidity you may be fine. It also may be worth looking for ways to boost the humidity around it's area artificially
@@GoodGrowing 35% is boosted 😁 I need a grow tent I know 😎 I’ll keep you updated
You are the best! You explain very well, thank you 😊

I'm in New Zealand, getting a cutting soon, thanks for this video
i want one 🤩..... i'd probably just pet the leaves, beautiful. 🌿
They are very pet-able 🙈

Yey! Another great video! Don’t know if you have one, but would like some tips on my Stromathe Sanguínea Triostar if you have or ever get one ☺️
Thanks :) and of course! I've not got a triostar at the moment but if I ever get one I'll be sure to make a care video on them! Thanks for the suggestion!

Cool plant!
Just can't decide which type I want. Your regular form looks beautiful. Maybe I should just get two? But I don't have the space for it.

Thank for the video, where did you get this pot, I lining in Iceland an í haven't found one here
it's from Lechuza which you can get on amazon

Just wondering what sort of pot you have? I’m a semi-hydro enthusiast and I’m keen to lean more about this pot!
This one is the balconera 50 from lechuza. Defo not cheap but good quality
nice plant. I also have 2 gloriosum and 1 glorious. New subscriber from Philippines :)
they're so amazing huh! the glorious is probably my all time favourite philodendron. It's just so perfect! and thanks for subbing :) I hope you continue to enjoy :)

Glorious ..is a X between Gloriosum & Melochrysom that why her leaves are bigger .. ( pls excuse the spelling 😕)
do you have a video of your potting this gloriousum ?
I have a reel of it over on instagram
thanks Emma! I so so want one but am still trying to figure out if I would get a more mature one or a smaller one - any indication on how long it takes to mature?
I would love to transfer mine into pon but im worried about the transition. Did you notice any issues at first?
Emma, could you please tell me if you keep a dry phase for your Gloriosum in the self watering pot?
I don't, no
So hot! And so is the plant!
I waited three years to get one and im not sure how to take care of it. I watered it when it arrived because it was kinda dry, the stems are kinda straightening out (they were a little droopy prior). the stems won't be hard like bamboo or something like that
@@GoodGrowing Thank you!
I haven't had a Gloriosum before, but you're making it look so easy :D Eyeing up a variegated version right now... hmm...
Do you add nutrients in your water ?
If you use lechuza pon, it has slow release fertiliser in it already that will last about 6 months. After that period, or if you use soil ninja's semi-hydro, you can add more slow release or use a liquid fertiliser suitable for semi-hydro. I typically do the latter as i find it easier to remember
I only collect snake plants, but I’m thinking about getting one of these. We’ll see. Does plant addiction ever end? Lol
I don’t think it ever does 😂
My gloriousum has splash of silver markings. Starting to think maybe it’s something else
Why doesn't the self watering pot cause root rot but too much water in a cache pot does?
Soil can hold on to too much water because a lot of times it has a peat moss base in it but when you use pon or something airy like perlite it allows air to reach the roots much better.
