Bill, we got a hundred thousand people going to watch this. Can you turn off the grinder for a few minutes?
This is a background special effect.
WHAAAAT?
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Wow! The possibilities are endless! Thank you :-)
I've been in aviation for over 40 years and long before I started, they were already shadowing tools for inventory control. A standard utility knife with 9mm snap-off blades is all you need to use and does a great job.
True ken. Im a old school aviation guy myself. The new electric foam cutter is far easier than the old way. Been there, done both. Im giddy with this new box i just shadowed with so much more accuracy and ease.
@@ricpowers1475 Same. I'm trying to decide if I want to shadow my line box. Wondering if its even worth it or just keep using canvas bags.
Great vid, will be purchasing soon, once I decide on the colour.
Has an entire VDE tool kit. Still hasn’t attached the socket to the wall.
I so want that purple color now. Love this stuff thanks
That looks so satisfying
Great solution and great detail guys. 👍
Hi thanks for a great video. I’m just about to do a complete refit of my metal fabrication workshop. You have given me some great ideas. If you would like to follow along with my refit it starts on the 26th January 2020 Australia Day. I would love any ideas on the refit. Cheers.
We'll definitely check it out!
Does it hold onto moisture, turning tools into rust? Or is it impregnated with corrosion resistant juice?
If you wait till the end of the video, well show you-...
*Immediately skips to the end of the video* 🤣
looks great well done boys now about doing something for pneumatic tools
we did this almost 50 years ago, went to an art and craft store, and bought sheets of 1" foam, cut foam to fit each drawer then laid tools on foam and traced tools with a black marker. to cut out the markings, we used a soldering gun. we then sprayed the sheets and let them dry, next day I inserted foam back into drawers and placed tools in their chosen locations. not only looks good you tell at a glance if something is missing also easy to locate the proper tool.
You're absolutely right, it's the best way to easily spot missing tools
With what did you spray the foam inserts? What purpose did that serve? Was it an underlying adhesive?
Garlic bread!?
It's the future.
Very helpful, will make an order when my new tool chest arrives.
Great independent business and I wish you all the best! I am wondering if the paint used to colour the foam is durable, flexible and cleanable?
Would it be feasible/possible to have a thicker coloured layer that fills in the cells to make a flat, wipeable surface?
I think the idea is to make a contrast between the top color layer and the actual foam, so when a tool is not in its home, it’s very obvious
What colour should that top drawer be?
You can put desi-pak’s in your tool box to help prevent rust. I’m an aircraft mechanic in Texas and it’s ALWAYS really humid out here. I’ve been using desi-pak’s in my tool box for years and never lost a tool from rust.
That's awesome
Thanks videonya,
I wasn't expecting to laugh when I clicked on this. Great video, just put our first order in.
haha what did you laugh at mate?
This guy is reminding everybody he is engineer every 10 min in average
So twice....
Essas ferramentas no Brasil tem um custo muito alto.
“Garlic bread”
Здорово 👍 Где бы взять такой паролон?
G’day guys. Awesome outcome! Can you tell me the brand name of the foam you used and where you bought it please? Kaizen only make black outside layers. Cheers, Michael 🇦🇺
Brand name for the foam is Shadow Foam and is available on www.shadowfoam.com
are standard sizes still available on amazon?
Should be, but the best place to find all our products and foam sizes is www.shadowfoam.com
I would do this for portable cases, but I would need 10 more tool chests to make it work in the garage :)
I agree. Basically all I got out of this is you need a sharp scalpel. Was hoping there was a trick to getting the bottom of the foam flat.
@Fritz Smith, there are other brands that have been made that foam is made in layers, be careful you will damage and make mistakes this foam looks cheap and nasty for the price and its better to make finger holes at the side of outline to pull the tool out than to try and cut, by eye in perfect layers with a blade like that, be prepared to make mistakes
Hi, thanks for the great video. I was wondering is Shadow foam can be cut by laser? I had a DXF (CAD) file of my tools and was hoping to get it organized using Shadow Foam. But I was hoping to get it cut quickly at my local makerspace. Again, great video and a great product!
Yes, absolutely, just make sure there's plenty of ventilation as the fumes can be unpleasant
@@ShadowFoam Thanks for the quick reply. I'm looking to laser cut with the contrasting colors (blue top and red bottom). Do you sell them in the US and how do I order them? Thanks!
Check this. You certainly can cut foam with a laser, but it may not be UK legal to exhaust the fumes, which - depending on the foam material - may be toxic. We are not allowed to cut foam at a School where I volunteer. We are often Safety Inspected. Hence this comment.
You will find yourself spending more time trying to make drawings for the parts and setting up the job on the laser than simply just using a marker and a proper thin and sharp knife with adjustable depth.
Hi guys are the cutting kits and straight edge automatically added to your order or is there a code for them?
Unfortunately we are not offering free gifts any more, so you would have to add the separately
How much do I have to buy to get that grinder to shut up?
Trace first with a long tip marker, then cut out the marker outline. Much easier
An overhead camera would be a great help
An overhead camera would be great 👌
How would you say X-acto blades work with this?
With Shadow Foam Original they will tear the foam, so not ideal. Easy Peel will be cut fine with it, as it is much more rigid
Hi, Great video, I have just purchased the same tool box and some of your foam and extra blades (arriving today) I am looking forward to creating a tidy tool box environment. I noticed that your standard sheet would not fit that particular top tool tray and the custom price is very high just to accommodate that one draw. I also went 30mm for the smaller draws instead of 50mm in your video, do you see any issues with the small depth foam for these draws and can I ask why you opted for the 50mm. Thanks.
It's just preference, with 30mm the items will stand out of the foam, but with 50mm you can set them all the way in. It's just how you want the finished look to be, neither are wrong
You make it look really easy 😮
I love the idea of this, but can I be assed when I have so many tools... absolutely not. Non-slip draw liners FTW.
These are better for mobile tool chests that get turned on their end to wheel away. The tools need to be secure.
oh what is this AMATURE HOUR!!
Guys,
I have a Dewalt DSC570 battery-operated power saw.
How would you recommend storing it in a TStack case please - I'm struggling :)
Hi Pete,
That's a great question and we are going to make a video about that right away so stay tuned! Straight away, my thoughts are to use two 70mm sheets of Shadow Foam and cut the shape straight through. If you need any help or advice, do let me know if you can hang on, wait for our video and we'll happily show you how we'd do this. Great question, thanks for commenting 👍
Next week, extended highlights on how to cut paper with scissors 👍🏻
How did you guess!?
How do you keep foam from being oily and dirty?
Train to be a nurse
Kevin Lancaster well they get payed more than a mechanic so I might think about it lol
Its Peter Kay, Brian out of Pheonix Nights
Chorley FM had to let him go during furlough. Good to see him back on his feet again 😄😄😄
Do you offer this in the US market?
At the moment we can only ship to the US from our UK warehouse, which means shipping costs can quickly add up. We are working on introducing Shadow Foam into the US soon though
I’d love to buy some but it would probably cost a fortune to ship to Australia. In fact anywhere else other than the UK.
If you want, we've got an exclusive discount code for our RUclips fans! Go to our website www.shadowfoam.com and use the code 'youtube15' for a 15% discount
Do you sell in Australia?
We ship to Australia, however we have to ship from the UK so there are postage costs
Can I get them in the USA? I need this for all my tools.
They do ship to the USA.
What happens when the tool breaks and you cant get another one to fit..
I have already thought about this and If you get a new tool in a drawer that doesn't fit, deal with it temporarily even if it's ugly. Make it work. Then... Set a goal to upgrade all the other tools in that drawer. When you have purchased the new, (and hopefully improved) tools, and you have a replacement for every tool in the draw, run a new sheet of your choice foam.
Personally I own many hand tools that will last forever which are good brands like knipex, milwaukee, but mixed in are a bunch of older tools I plan on replacing as I can afford them. I'll use this 'sheet at a time' method. I just with they sold big sheets.
...is this available in the U.S.? ...retail?
We don't have distributors in the US, but we do offer shipping across the pond!
@@ShadowFoam
...thank you for replying...
the top draw should be hot pink
Who went straight to end of video to see top drawer?
Me
Good video. Just seems like a couple of good guys trying to make an honest buck ya know.
I haven’t got that many years left to fit this in
All the more reason to get started! It's never been easier with Shadow Foam. What project would you have in mind?
How to know the people peddling foam dont use their tools?
Everything is pristine... and there are no cut outs for your fingers to get around the tool.
I assure you we use our tools daily, everything is pristine because we like a clean workspace and toolbox.
With our foam you don't need finger pulls because the foam is soft enough to not warrant them.
Lol, all those colored foams would look like hell after a day of heavy use. I love the organization, but you would need 3 times the drawer space for the same amount of tools
Shadow Foam hello, where I can buy the knife kit, our what is the part number
Gave up after 10 minutes ... get to it man!
no snapon toolbox? sad.
150 quid is half the price of my tool chest.
wonder what its like after a year , when its filled with oil and dust and the foam starts to break down ...
Well if you keep your drawers clean you'll never have a problem. Our other product, Easy Peel is water and common chemical resistant, so it won't ever break down
ah , ok , i work with my tool s often they get wet , but then i oil them to keep them good , but then again , im a diver.
@@ShadowFoam define "common chemical" and define "resistant".
Looks like a great way to make a single set of wrenches take up an entire drawer.
Common chemicals such as oils, bleaches and solvents. And resistant as in, it resists the liquid so you can wipe it off without damaging the foam.
Yeah Easy Peel would be a much better foam I'm that scenario, Original is better suited to dry environments
HOT WIRE..!!!
13:02 could have been bad
router
suppose to be not ad for product. click bait
Had to flush the video at the 6 minute mark. Even at 2.0 X speed, it was too painful to keep listening to all the blather instead of just getting to the point.
We have learned a lot about video making and keeping the pace up since making this video! Take a look at a more recent video and let us know if we have upped our game 💪😃
fuckin lovely
Booooorrrrrrrrrrrreeeeeeddddddd. Omg get on with it, mate.
Больно смотреть на ржавый книпекс!
Nothing till 11:40 mostly selling you he's sponsers tools. And by the end you realise he has talked a lot but no really any help 🤦♂️
We don't have any sponsors! We just like talking about tools 😂
We have a guy at work who is this organised so we swap the drawers around in his tool chest, childish I know but it drives him mad.
Would be easier and faster if the foam was pre-cut like other brands. No tools needed
But removes the DIY element, remember no two toolkits are ever the same!
@@ShadowFoam There are kits that are precut that you can remove with your fingers, they are not cut all the way through so the foam sticks together like one piece.
you buy like a 1000x1000 mm foam piece and all of the foam is already precut in squares of 5x5 mm or so but not all the way through. You just rip out the space you need with your fingers and can even put them back
Ist das umständlich. Für all das Zeug was da auf dem Tisch liegt ist man ja ewig dran.
Dann lasse ich mir das für paar euro fräsen
lost the will to live
That's a shame, Bill
Way to expensive for foam wtaf 😂😂😂😂
😎
I'm not sure how these two get anything done at the speed they work.
This is just a sheet of foam with some paint rolled over it xD
Anyone who "really uses" tools does not store them like this. Bunch of bugle boy engineers.
Wow, you're right! No one uses foam for their tools... We better start a new business
Millimetre NOT mil. A mil is 1/1000 of an inch and since you lot weight yourselves in stone, get with it.
Didn’t invent anything…. Foam organizing tools has been around for ever
We never claim to have reinvented the wheel... But we have created a unique product, as there is no other foam of this kind that comes in the range of colours we offer
7 min in stopped watching.
Video title is how to cut foam. Should be 2 blokes waffling on forever and not doing anything.
That's 1/3 of the video and you have not gotten to the point of the video.
If you want to keep and engage people who randomly click on a video, get to the point early, then waffle after you show them what they came for.
16 mins before you cut anything, I'll never get that time back. Typical youtube nonsense.
I just wish it wasn’t so “screw you” to the environment, it’ll be hurting animals in a thousand years. Industry could have developed a natural source of foam. Making a material like polystyrene or foam is pretty much industrial psychopathy, no emotions for the impact on their own family’s descents.😭
Easy Peel is a polyethylene foam, and therefore 100% recyclable!
@@ShadowFoam That’s good that it’s potentially recyclable, though real world, how many of the sales unit you sell, will ever make it to a recyclers? I think the current rate for easy stuff is sub 10%, it’s sad that we have created a system which betrays our children’s future and call that normality.😢😢😢
@@brandsthatcreatelitter1648 Unfortunately, there is only so much we can do once the product leaves our warehouse. We use cardboard boxes for packaging and the foam is 100% polyethylene, so it can go in normal, household recycling. We do make this apparent on all packaging, but at the end of the day it is up to the customer to recycle the material. As for the other product, we are trying to find a way to recycle the offcuts, any material that is scrap in our warehouse is sent for recycling, however, offcuts from customers cannot yet be recycled. However, as I said, we are trying to work on this issue.
You talk tooooooo much!
Massive waste of space. There are much better ways to organize.
are they better ways to visually organise and display though? 🤔
Geez, so much yada yada unnecessary small talk....Please, in future videos, you could concentrate more into usefull content, not so much into you chatting in front of camera.
I can get three times as many tools in my box without this foam crap and still be organized. This guy probably yaks all day and gets nothing done.
👍
The different colors is a good idea. Then you can take some paint or tape in color matching the foam.. then mark the tools with it. That way if anyone does use a tool or if your in a hurry or tired it's brainless during clean up.
