This event is a celebration of the mid-autumn festival, a festival associated with the moon and is commonly celebrated in East Asia especially China. Since Clefairy is associated with the moon, they make it as a symbol to celebrate the festival.
i knew it! i've seen so many pictures of the festivals in china and it always looks so beautiful. seeing the lanterns and pics of mooncakes makes me so jealous 😭

7:15 It's important to note that seeing the "The number of [Pokemon] in the outbreak is definitely getting lower" message does not mean that you've knocked out 60. Each time one of those messages appears, it means you've defeated 20-30 pokemon. To guarantee that you've knocked out 60 and you only use those messages, you'll want to wait until the "There are not many [Pokemon] left from the original outbreak" message to appear.
Does that not drop the spawning amount?
Do the knocks have to be uninterrupted?

You are right @_DewGaming I shiny hunt often and I have even counted them myself. As soon as the last message pops up... That is (there are not many Pokémon left from the original outbreak) I immediately stop and save. I then make a lvl 3 shiny sandwich and either roam or picnic reset to have the max odds for getting a shiny for the full 30 minutes.

Clefairy has a special place in my heart. As a kid playing Red and Blue, because they were harder to find and the dex said they were rare, I collected every one I found. A few years ago, I checked to see if the battery was still working, and it was, so I got to see all the Clefairy I captured back then. I might do the hunt for this mark as a nod to my kid-self.
Were you able to transfer those Clefairies to the news games? Do you still have them?
@nicholasalexander9866 No, they all live in my Blue version. You can't get original Game Boy pokemon out of Gen 1 and 2 without, like, knowledge on how to get that onto a computer and then on to a hacked 3ds with red or blue downloaded. Or something like that. I DO still have my original Gardevoir from GBC Sapphire. She's moved through all the gens with me and is hanging out in my party in Violet.
@@Pumpkin_Cult Well at least you have that Gardevoir. I wished I knew you because I have a hacked 3ds and would definitely transfer them for you. On the bright side you still have the Gbc
Clefairy is also the best Pokemon to prevent recoil damage when catching enemy Pokemon by Skill Swap-ping your Magic Guard.

Clefairy also give 2 HP EVs so if you need to EV train some pokemon for raids you can do that while mark or shiny hunting.
He probably knocked down one that has a Titles by taking down 30 of them which I got a few titles very early which I was surprised because that doesn't happen to me!
I'm not using Sandwich Encounter Power either which I caught 7 so far I think!
it's currently the mooncake festival / mid-autumn festival. hence the moon theme. there will be a full moon tonight, 29th sept 2023 :)

I don't typically care about marks, but I think I'll actually try to shiny hunt this marked Clefairy. It's not a great shiny, but I still like it.
Good luck with that. I was just looking for a regular non shiny marked one and after hours gave up without catching even one. I think the odds of finding one are still very small
@@DeVon675 Well it's 5%, aka 1 in 20 (for the non shiny), as he explained in this video.

I think learning that they are able to even do that is cooler than the event itself. Seeing that they can increase mark rarities/rates and also shiny rates with the data is neat!

I could honestly care less about marks but I will show you my support as always austin since you are very helpful explaining the confusing things the pokemon company promotes sometimes
I tried this out today and the 3rd Clefairy I caught in the 1st outbreak I saw ended up having the upbeat mark. It took like 5 minutes. Thanks again Austin for your unrivaled and thorough videos.
So thankfully I was able to catch several Clefairy with marks, one of them had the Upbeat mark and another one was a shiny which I'm really happy about. I wish you all the best in your hunt.

This event is surprisingly convenient for me. I was planning on shiny hunting Clefairy anyways to celebrate getting to Round 10 and unlocking the one and only Explosion TM in Pokémon Platinum thanks to a Shiny Clefairy.
Got one on my third catch, a crafty mark
I am hype because of the clefairy line being of my favorite pokemon! I liked how they incorporated this fullmoon event to both pokemon sleep and SV. I would like to believe it could have some reference to something more but it is more then likely just how this fullmoon event in real life goes well with this pokemon in terms of a theme.
I started this event just to get a shiny Clefairy, my 8th Clefairy in the outbreak was a shiny and it had the mark.

Hey Austin, I do wanna let you know the spot where you did your test of catching Clefairies, most of them are probably spawned in the cliff/wall so everyone else should be aware if you specifically get that spot! Had a Charcadet outbreak at that exact same spot. Just move the opposite side of that cliff and it’ll mostly spawn in the open!

They could also do outbreak events to make normally night and day exclusive be able to appear anytime of day so that for example Dawn mark Drifblim could finally be possible
Found my first shiny with a mark. Shiny Eevee with the crafty mark this morning. Very happy.
Shinies with a mark are always neat. Im personally shiny hunting Shaymin in BDSP right now but if i get it soon enough and I feel like it I'll go for Clefairy.
Why are the marks neat? This is my first game since heartgold so i aint caught up with the new stuff. Is it like more rare?
@@David_619yea basically there are many marks that are fairly rare to be obtained on mons. Basically adding more value to shinies for some people. There is a very rare mark too
@@David_619 it's just one more thing that helps make a pokemon more special, especially because it affects their names. my personal favorites are "the Reliable Partner," "the Cloud Watcher," and "the Former Alpha."
How are you shiny hunting Shayming? did you get the event and din't catch Shayming until now?

Thank you for the clarification, last night was my 1st time participating in the event. After catching roughly under 12 I didn’t realize I obtained a mark clefairy to my surprise it had the upbeat mark too. Almost released it
This is actually cool, since Clefable and eviolite Clefairy are quite good in ranked pvp battles and having a shiny with a mark is extra drip
Finally a good and difficult hunt

First outbreak i went to, defeated 60, then caught 25 before outbreak ended, wound up with 1 Sleepy-Time Mark, 1 Humble Mark and about 20th I caught was an Upbeat! No shinies but at least i got 1 of the special event marks already :)
I guess I got lucky. Caught 4 Clefairy and 1 of them had the upbeat mark. It was a green music note for a "chipper" pokemon.
You could tell how pleased Current Austin was with the info provided by Past Austin 😂
The first one I caught had a crafty mark.
I did this outbreak first shiny I got no sandwich because I have few herba had the upbeat mark super excited about it.
The very first Clefairy I caught during this event, had the mark, lol!
Great video, just mentioning though, the notifications during outbreaks dont always mean youve knocked out exactly 30, 60, etc. it varies from outbreak to outbreak.
I got a shiny Tinkaton with the aggressive mark

I am pretty sure around 7:25 that notification does not always pop up at 60 pokemon K/O'd from the outbreaks
I got lucky with the Upbeat Mark, Austin. I caught less than 10 Clefairy, and it was one of them. I also got the Sleep-Time Mark, and the Dawn Mark.

Just one data point here, but the location used in the video for an isolated shiny encounter Clefairy gave me success even with it also being a Mass Outbreak. I tried going up to the Carbink spot but with no luck (I had little time because I wasted it in other Mass Outbreaks hoping it would be faster).
Might do this just for fun. Don’t care too much about mark hunting but it’d be a neat addition to my collection
they’re specifically doing the full moon events not just because it’s a full moon (or was a full moon last night) but because it’s the harvest moon which means autumn moon festivals like chuseok (korea) or Tsukimi (japan)

I decided to shiny hunt the Upbeat Marked Clefairy. I found 5 shiny Clefairy and and got 1 Upbeat Marked Clefairy and 1 Sociable one. Super psyched I saw this video a couple hours ago, I just barely made it 😂🎉

I have have enough herba mystica in scarlet where I can and will be using these outbreaks to shiny hunt. If I get the mark then cool but mostly just after the shiny because I don’t have it in game yet.

While this event may not be up my alley specifically, I do really love the idea of special outbreaks and some of the parameters they've set up. Imagining the size being set so you have to hunt the biggest possible Tandemaus or teeny tiny little Yanma sounds like a lot of fun. It also might be a really interesting way for them to have a few other unique form outbreaks... like Alolan Sandshrew, Vulpix or Geodude (all introduced in Kitakami) or other regionals that are transferable to the game and can be bred but not obtainable in the wild. Hopefully I am not being too pie-in-the-sky hopeful about what they actually do with these outbreaks lmao.

Are the Mass Outbreak mechanics similiar to PLA? If i knock out 60 can i save, and just catch 30, reset catch another 30 etc? or do i need a clean outbreak up to 60?
Funny enough, a few years ago, we did spirit Pokémon with number generator and clefairy was my spirit Pokémon
