Amazing Content Guys, and THOSE HOMES, WOW. I'm Very Impressed.
I missed garages and hobby rooms. The first one had a "bar motorbike garage", but all others had no "man's repair shop". And I want a usable garden for me. Prices were fantastic - please make more vids.
What’s the home/ land ownership process like?
You two produce better content than HGTV =) All the homes are beautiful. Maybe you should get a real estate commission on sales as a result of your home tours.
Thank you so much!
Julio Alvear: I have to Agree with You.
You guys loosing money with that real estate tour plus bi-lingual
I totally agree. This clip was better than anything you see on HGTV. Well done guys!! 👏👏👏
yeah, great editing and narration.!
😊 If I could, I would chose them all but the blue house and secret garden is the winner here - like living in a fairytale 🥰
Thanks a lot for sharing.
Good choice!
Yeah! That blue house is incredible! 😊
OUR SON just checked out rental apartments here in Central Florida, and was STUNNED. A 2 bedroom, one bathroom place goes for $1500-$2000/month - with "first, last, & securtity" before you move in, that's a minimum of $4,500 to set yourself up ! UNBELIEVABLE ! No wonder so many retirees are MOVING ABROAD - America has become TOO EXPENSIVE for Americans !
Apartments here in Indiana are the same ridiculously high price. It's just greed on the part of the landlords and they know they can get buy with charging that much. Equador looks very good to me, as a single 74 year old woman.
I love the homes there and prices are wonder. How far are hospitals? Is there a large English speaking expat community? What about earthquakes?
Wow! Loved all of the homes, but would probably choose the last one. The craftsmanship is amazing!
Simply beautiful, but it's way too much of a home for me. I would love to see 1-2 bedroom apartment rentals for single people.
Or 1-2 bedroom places to buy...
Really enjoying these homes for sale tours. Great job!
Definitely Casa Azul. I love the mature gardens the tile, the views from the 3rd floor.
The 3rd and 4th places are beautiful but HOA's are a game changer for me. In my experience, they're (HOA's) a pain.
Being from SW Colorado, I've always owned at least an acre ... I dislike the scrutiny, the meetings, the rules that regulate everything from your lightbulbs to landscaping. I'd rather do my own gardening and hire a handyman on occasion anyway. Thanks!!! Was fun.
Hi, I completely understand how you feel about HOA community's. I'm sure that an overseas HOA is completely different from what it is here in the States. In this case, being in Ecuador, I am sure that the gated HOA also provides 24 hour security, which is a huge benefit..
As far as aesthetics, definitely the last home. As far as what I would choose, Casa Azul. I'm an outdoor garden guy that would modify backyard with additional veggies and fruit trees.
Good choice!
I love that you guys are thriving and living your best life’s!❤ great video
Love all of them but the blue house was just magical!
I love you guys! You are always so positive! I agree with you, I love the last one!
I’m so happy that Amelia likes the laundry rooms. I’m really big on laundry rooms whenever we rent properties, so I’m happy to see someone else who has this clothes washing fetish! :-) We are enjoying your channel in Kyoto, Japan, as American expats ourselves. Thanks!!
I LOVE THE SECOND HOUSE! OMG !!!! 😱
Just an FYI - the "high" today in Denver was 15°F... in case you needed a reminder of what it was like to live here. ;)
brrrr, thanks to the inversion we are a balmy 25 up here at 8'500ft in Conifer!
@@michelegangaware5250 Today, we managed to get to about 20 here in Canon City. As I was driving back from Colorado Springs last night at 5 degrees, I kept thinking of Ecuador!
@@FroHawkDesigns We lived in Costa Rica for 6 years & came back home to CO about 11 years ago, we are ready to move south again soon and Ecuador is calling. It was 1 this morning, but warmed up!🙂
I see the temperature is in the low 40's to mi 60's for Feb 23, 2023 which explains why the fireplaces in several homes. What type of heating system is used , forced air electric or another type ? Beautiful homes and if you like the weather then a beautiful place to live in. Thanks.
Beautiful homes and great tours by you both! Casa Azul was my favorite! I would love to spend my time having coffee on the balcony or reading a book in the garden.
I agree. I liked Casa Azul the best. No HOA!
Besides, there was a cat.
I like any house a cat likes.
I live in Vegas, and there are chickens and roosters all around. The roosters don't crow at night, so they are not really a bother.
The only thing missing in Azul is a fireplace in the living room.
That back garden seemed to go on forever.
Will this town be the next Pompei? 🤔
You're in Vegas and there are chickens and roosters all around? It is blazing hot there around half the year and they survive?
@@donh5794 yep! Dogs to. I've been a cat person for a long time because you don't have to walk them and especially since they don't bark. 😆
@@wernerdanler2742 Ok, dogs I know. I just never saw chickens and roosters from decades of visiting and occasionally working there. I know the area very well.
House 3 @ 155k 😮 my heart broke…I purchased my first home in New Orleans for 195k and it wasn’t as big, needed 100k of love and the taxes and insurance are so high 😢 I’d learn Spanish to live in House 3…my mind is changing. Thank y’all for showing me how Ecuador is living ✌🏾
Wow, Fantastic homes. I LOVE Cotacachi.
Cotacachi is the place for me, I love the area! I liked #2 & #4 for different reasons; the azule home with the that fantastic garden, the rooftop with 360 degree view and that master balcony, is great, the downfall is the stairs, not great with stairs unless an elevator (lol) last house was great as well, loved the round living room, the woodwork and that dining room and the kitchen was great.and JP was correct the landscaping looked like an artist did it...and no stairs....very nice bathrooms....I would pick #4 only because it was single level.
@@judithsmith9582 if you’re in your 20s 30s or 40s, no problem, but when you reach a certain age you don’t want to be climbing stairs…(and slipping, tripping or breaking something) as much as I love those views, I’d be perfectly happy with a garden to have my morning coffee ☕️🌳🌞
4:57...you know she's looking for that elusive dishwasher...
LOL!
All of those homes were amazing for the price!
Cotacachi was fabulous. We stayed in the Kalera part of town and really loved being in the Indigenous area. People there were fantastic. Made some good friends. Look forward to going back for an extended stay.
char..were there a lot if English speakers there?
Didn’t try to call, the setup was to send a message. I did that twice but never got a response and by then we were set to fly out.
If one could take the best parts/features of each of these homes and combine them into one, it would be maravillosa!
I loved this! Please keep doing home tours. 💙💙💙
Thank you! Will do!
I agree. I LOVE LOVE Amelia and JP content!
The ads are out of control on this video
I cant wait to visit Cotocachi in June. these are beautiful homes and look to be really great deals.
My favorite is the 3rd, but the secret garden house was great, too. All the homes were really nice! 🙂
To Amelia and JP ... There's just one drawback to all the houses in this video--they're all right next to a VOLCANO!!!!! That's the ULTIMATE deal breaker!!
Amelia and JP. Do you know bout the family from Boise who are staying in Cotacachi for about 6 months? There new RUclips channel is Family Latitude Adjustment. You should feature them to help kick start their channel :)
agree on the last house, all were beautiful!
Tried to contact Amy about a property while we were there but never got a response. We’re disappointed as we wanted to see the property while we were in that area.
Unfortunately I liked the last home, but those chickens and roosters would have me walking back to that third home which was still a really nice place. These homes are larger than my current home and little less than 1/2 the price!
Loved the video. I was thinking can you make a video on a one bedroom condo or a one bed home if any. One day I hope to visit in retirement and is on my list of potential permanent living
Great video. I also loved the last house. Do you know when was the last time the volcano erupted?
Great houses with each having some very stunning details. What about termites? With all that beautiful wood interior work, are they a problem?
Thank you. I love your energy and excitement. Your content is awesome, and you compliment one another beautifully. I am struggling frequently with work stress, feeling pretty stuck at times. It’s nice to temporarily escape’ through dreaming of other possibilities. I enjoyed Ecuador and would consider returning for sure.
All of these were pretty good and all in a decent price range. Thank you
It's so beautiful there. I love the Tardis house!
I loved the last 2 homes. Don't want a lot if stairs in the future. May go next year for a couple weeks and rent a flat there.
Wow all of these were fantastic. It would be very hard to make a choice. And they are all in my price range so that makes it even more difficult.
I just love you guys. My husband laughs and says “There goes another video from your friend” every time I watch your videos. Aside from that, now I’m in love with Cotacachi ❤️ It looks amazing! It’s everything I want in life, except for constant cloud and rain 😔 And I loved the house with the secret garden! I’ll be sitting there all day long if I could. I’m not even in Ecuador, but it feels like home, my soul place ❤️
Property taxes $50 or less per year - this alone is reason enough to move there
Casa Azul for me, love the gardens and the views. Not bad price compared to the coast region
It cannot be that safe with wrought iron on all the windows.
I liked the “tree house” Winder how much the upkeep would be though, since there’s no HOA fees?
These were all beautiful homes, but I'd love to see some similar homes in more rural settings. I am seriously looking into Ecuador as a retirement destination, but I prefer a bit more privacy and space than these (sub)urban homes offer.
I liked the last 2 house. No bars on the windows, beautiful skylights and vaulted ceilings.
Beautiful homes. I didn't realize real estate was so cheap there. Maybe I should consider there instead of Mexico for retirement.
I'm surprised they don't have you take your shoes off when showing these homes with the beautiful wood floors...
just found your channel. Nice places there! pretty good price too. I might have to come visit
The second house hooked me. Didn't need to see more💥🥀
The Blue House is my #1 Choice. It’s also by far the highest maintenance. Was the structure at the end of the garden a storage shed? How much would it be for a half or full time gardener? Any parking? Cars. Import ours or,buy there? Love all your videos for sharing experience and realistic e situations and concerns.
I love how they are close to the Centro. All three were great and reasonably priced. However, I think that I would go 3, 2, then 1.
I really liked the home with a pool. So unique. May have to adjust to the roosters 🤔😂
No thanks to any HOA. My gosh what beautiful properties. I am pretty new to your channel so forgive me if you have already covered this, but if you haven't, can you do a video on how you dealt with getting rid of a houseful of possessions, and your car, and EVERYTHING!! before finally moving? That is really holding me back. It seems overwhelming. I'd do it in a second otherwise.
Welcome!
We answered your question in this video: ruclips.net/video/LkPosWIvWJQ/видео.html
And went into more detail here: ameliaandjp.com/how-to-move-abroad-10-crucial-steps-to-expat-in-a-new-country/
@@AmeliaAndJP Thank you! I am really enjoying your channel :) I never considered Equador, I was planning on Mexico.
Are you still living in Manta? I'm getting the impression that you have moved. I remember your comments about the humid salty air in Manta harming your appliances, so maybe you have moved. Usually you post several times on what your choices are and why you chose to leave. Did I somehow miss a video?
I really liked that 2nd home with the secret garden and the balconies. Loved it! Thank you for sharing!!
Glad you enjoyed it!
I saw that last place on mls-ecuador already. So nice, along with the others, and what value! I could see myself making my home base in Cotacachi in one of these places, and also renting a place in Quito, shuttling back and forth whenever I required big city amenities.
The Cotacachi homes are still my favorite! The green views, vibe, and amount of living space are amazing 😍. The only thing keeping me from putting Cotacachi at the top of the list is wanting to be closer to a larger city at least at the start of our expat journey. But I would LOVE to stay in one of these homes as a retreat. Thank you for all you do to put these videos together- I'm so glad you decided to keep doing them!
I totally get that you guys walk or are driven everywhere, but many of us want to know what the parking situation is for each house. I would need to park a 4x4 and a motorcycle, and I would want something at least out of the rain.
Those are all interesting and affordable choices, and as cool as the $200k to $300k homes are, most of us are not going to be able to foot that bill. I really liked Cotacachi. I found it to be clean, plenty of cool restaurants and I found a great masseuse!
That's pretty cool.
Questions:
1. Can Foreigners Purchase Real Estate? And,
2. Do they Finance? What are typical terms and Requirements?
Thanks for your questions!
We talked about that and more in this video: ruclips.net/video/jpiBfJ6VSjg/видео.html
@@AmeliaAndJP - Thank you for the heads up! Much Appreciated
I just bought a killer place there not even a week ago. I am so glad I got to it before you guys posted this video lol. Anyway you guys do good work
Congrats!
@@AmeliaAndJP kind thanks! Just sent email, grateful for any & all feedback. Cheers
The blue house is amazing! I love the garden and the roof would be a great spot to chill. Oh and a pool! I love all the wood and tile in these houses too.
You can't go wrong with realtor Amy Prisco!
¿Nunca han sentido la tentación de comprar un departamento o casa acá en Ecuador?
They're all decent . I'm just not sure I'd want to be situated between the scenic view of 2 VOLCANOES!! Is that safe??
I would pick whichever one doesn't have HOA fees.
That house with $265/mo HOA for gardening ?? That's beyond crazy in a country where a big mac costs $2.75.
Great to see what's available there.
Incredibly low property taxes. Unbelievable! There must be a catch.
It makes me happy to see you both happy in my country Ecuador. I'm learning about my own country thanks to you.
Amelia And JP;
Sweetie and Husband:
Guys,
I liked THE PRICE of ALL FOUR !!!
I'd have to physically experience each house before choosing.....
Tks. much.
I swear, I love you guys' vids and content, but seriously, y'all are aging backwards!! Y'all look AMAING and HAPPY!!
I vote for casa Azule
Amelia, diga : Hola MICHI, instead of hola kitty
Love all of these!! The Tardis house!! Wanna move ... Canada is so cold right now January 11 2024! Happy New year @amelia and jp
This place is immaculate
Este lugar es Inmaculado
How many Airports are there in EQUADOR????
Lovely house guys, but the thing that put me off was, how close the volcano was????
Beautiful homes. However the HOAs strike me as ridiculously high.
Love the houses. Wish I was there now
My house in Braintree mass USA is 1350 sq ft 4800$ a year in taxes goes up 100$ every six months. Though value is $525K any gains must pay 40% tax at sale. I live next to a highway. No sense of community, paranoia, fear, suspicion, hate, racism, inequality is everywhere.
Tks, Amelia and JP. What would be your take on why 'maintenance fee ' is so high? whats added into/included in it? (for better understanding) . thanks in advance. Lovely places. Did Amy talk at all about mold issues ? Did any have heating (solar or hot water) heat in floor ? Love they are walkable to town.
B.Pe Are you referring to Amy Prisco?
The "maintenance fee" is usually utilities as well as security and condominium fee for the gated community the house is located at.
Many of these communities pay for their own streets and playgrounds/parks/pools and also need to pay for guards, gardeners, etc.
They can also hike up prices just because of exclusivity
You guys are making me love this place!!! 😄😄😄
That last one (Diorama) was perfect for a couple!! And HOA not as high. I loved it. We have entertained ideas about Mexico and Portugal, but those homes for 159k are awesome.
I would want a traditional Ecuadorian home. However Out of the 4 you showed I would pick Casa Azul.
$30 in property taxs a year on $120,000 house 0_0 wow, that is incredibly low, I had no idea Ecuador property tax was that low, what is that like 1/20th of 1 percent?!?!?
Love the houses there….
JP do you have trouble breathing in Contachi?
I have a lung condition, I do well at 5000 feet, but I couldn’t breathe in Quito when I went there for a conference once.
Thanks for your response, you both do such a great job at all this, what a blessing you are.
Cheers, Michael
Honestly the help you’ll hire will be so affordable you probably won’t be doing your own laundry nor your own cooking. Just beautiful homes especially the last two.
lol, these homes will cost millions of dollars in the US. You pay $300,000 for some wooden structure in a gated neighborhood while you can pay $160,000 for brick and wood and garden and all that
I'm European. That cute little kitchen fits a good mansion.
Alll nice homes and affordable. THANKS. Do more homes for sale vids.
Yes, I liked Casa Azul also most, the secret garden is so cute......and I love to live in an art tree house. Actually, I am builing my house in Vilcabamba. Lets meet if you are here next time, becaus I will also have 2 A-frame Guesthouses for you. See you guys, greetings Steffi
These are amazing! If you want to live on a bit more land, 2+ acres, what would that look like? Where would you recommend? Would love to see a video showcasing farm-ish homes and or just more country living.
The asking prices are insane for that quality inside a gated community!! My fiancé lives there. I live in Boston but man I may reconsider relocating lol. That last house was a beast, imagine what you can get for 200k!! Omg!
WOW, the Blue House is AMAZING!!! I'm completely in love with it.
Casa Azul ... no contest! I'm not into manicured lawns and gardens. Casa Azul had character and soul, although the indoor swimming pool was a bit unnecessary.
Love your videos. So practical and cheap. I live in Denver/ north park hill. and totally understand why you have left. Keep it up. Very interesting.
Love the Dr. Who reference! :)
I'm in Love with the Blue House, incredible views of the volcanos, but that secret garden is what blows my mind. Amelia/JP can you please put me in contact with the agent for this property or for something similar, same area. I love your videos.
