It isn't that they know a lot or are smart. When you know what they are up to, their manipulations make no sense, and you can see them for the worthless people that they are. These people have to lie and manipulate because if they were their realselves, no one would want them. They know that, so they lie. They also choose people who aren't used to scum like them, so they take them at their word, which really shouldn't be an issue if they were with a normal decent person.
Unfortunately, they aren't with a decent person.
This is why when you're just getting to know someone you gotta keep things vague and cryptic. I always know they're trying to play me when they keep asking things like "what I like in a partner." That's when you say something vague like "oh... I don't like to go into things with expectations or rigidity. I just like to enjoy the experience and see where it goes."
That one alone literally saves me every time. The look on their face when they don't get the answers they want and they're trying to manipulate. Lolol. They end up thinking I'm so chill and exposing themselves so quickly. Just make them feel accepted and comfortable and they'll expose themselves soooo fast that it's unreal. Then you block and move on and never contact again.

When I tried a dating app A guy asked me that and I instinctual got weary of the question. I feel things so deeply something about it felt off and left him on read.
I didn't know this was a known manipulative tatic at the time but I did have the thought he asked in order to pretend to be what I want. I'm so grateful to be in tune with my intuition. Has kept me safe throughout the years even if everybody doesn't understand it.
I did that same thing with my last guy. Had enough bad experiences before that my instincts won't let me NOT be careful with men. What I wasn't prepared for was how absolutely shattered I got this time, when I quickly saw what he was really like. I had fallen for him hard already, when we were friends (or so I thought). And while we had been friends, he had exactly said to me how he admired that I was levelheaded and gotten my stuff sorted and healed.
So, never mind relationships of a romantic nature; The grief that someone I thought was at least *a friend* would do this, the grief to basically realise that *someone would hate me just because I was doing okay*.... to discover that the person you like actually *hates you*.... It hurt so bad it paralysed me, and it meant I just sat there in the situation for longer than I should. ;_; but your advice is solid. But, be careful ladies. And do not blame yourself or each other if you find yourself paralysed. These specific creatures are so so poisonous, and we can show caution and discernment - but we cannot give them the power of building a world wherein we can never be vulnerable.

Honestly as an empath I run into men like this a lot and my first instinct is always right when they start talking “ this person isn’t genuine” and ladies always trust your first gut instinct. It will save you from so much heart ache.

This is the same guy who made a Tiktok saying he was dating a girl and they got in a fight and she was saying he doesn't care that he hurt her. She started crying "...a real guttural cry, a mentally ill cry.." and he's just listening and doesn't feel a thing and tells the girl he doesn't care and to find someone else. He said he felt annoyed but also enjoyed the fact the fact that he meant so much to the girl. So... yeah 😬 very dangerous to say the least.

He was annoyed that I got bronchitis and had coughing fits...even though he is the one who gave me the cold that morphed into bronchitis! When he had diverticulitis and was in severe pain, I didn't mock him or tell him that his whining was annoying me, though.

Every men that ever told me he was a "good guy" always turned out to be a real piece of work. Thats why as women we don't like "nice guys",but they try to twist that to we do not want a genuine kind man. These men spend so much time playing the "nice guy" character and the "bad guy" character that they have no real personality. They fluctuate between extremes but are shocked when we don't want to be around them because it's so annoying when a man is acting hard to get.

If you are dealing with a narcissist specifically, they are trying to be whatever it is you want to be in hopes to get under your skin. And do it as long as it takes before they can abuse you mentally with free reign. A lot of men ask women what they want in a man to become that. Or mirror that even if that’s not who he is. Don’t tell him what you want in a man. Don’t even act appreciative when he’s the bare minimum of what you want. Just watch, and listen to what he is saying. Someone can only pretend to be someone they are not but for so long. Especially when they don’t know what makes you tick. The more someone knows, the easier it is to manipulate you emotionally. They can just make assumptions, and try to work with what they have. But if they believe they have you pegged, they will take it and run. It’s just like when men think you will never leave. They will disrespect you while you’re there because they don’t see you going anywhere. But, when you leave of your own volition and don’t come back, it hits them hard. That’s where the regrets come in for them as well. That’s why men, particularly exes will come back. Even after they’ve hurt you. I’ve got men I dated years ago STILL wishing I would give them the time of day for this very reason.
For me, the less I’ve told a man, the harder it’s been for him to manipulate me. The more emotional, open, and welcoming I was with a man, the easier it’s been to be manipulated, and find myself looking stupid over someone who honestly didn’t care. A man that cares about you, loves you, respects you isn’t trying to figure out how to control you emotionally. He’s either a good man or he’s not. He won’t need manipulation tactics. But, it’s wise to guard your heart.
@ceteris paribus When you show your hand by telling them exactly what you want in a man, you've given them the playbook to your heart, and all they have to do is PRETEND to be all those things long enough to get their hooks in you emotionally. Then, once they know they've got your heart and mind under lock and key, they will begin devaluing you and breaking you down from the inside out! A genuine man will be either all or some of those things on his own, and without your prompting, which is exactly why you don't tell them. Your only job is to watch, listen, and see who they CONSISTENTLY are.

There is a channel on here called Mental Healness. He is diagnosed NPD and is actively in therapy. His whole channel is dedicated to helping people who are targeted and abused by narcissists. He explains a lot if the thought processes and warning signs and it’s awesome when his wife comes on to help answer questions both with him and on her own. Just thought I’d put this info here for someone who may need it.

They way he talked about healed people implies that he doesn't believe that they're actually healed. He looked down on them and treated the things they say as worthless instead of as a way out of trauma... So, he basically doesn't really believe that ANYONE can heal.

I want to thank this man for revealing more tactics used by people like him. Another thing to look out for and avoid while dating. I have noticed many guys say things like “wow, you’re a beautiful person” or gas me up on some random stuff I’ve spoken about genuinely. I’m a people watcher & after watching tons of people, the trick to it has always been to get you to believe you’re special. Once they do that, they have you in their trap. You’re not actually special, but they finessed you with numerous tactics to convince you that you are indeed special or “different” in their eyes. After that’s done & you’re all invested, they will start to show their ass if they haven’t already. It’s wild & it’s insane that people even think like this
I know this comment is old, but i just had to say YES. I went slow with a narcissist and he got BIG MAD that I wouldn't "invest". They are looking for women who get way overly invested in them emotionally because it's much easier to control you. What I did was always approach situations with him from a lens of "what he's saying COULD be true or maybe not, but time will tell." That keeps the emotional investment down. I believe real relationships should go slow anyway and manipulators keep trying to push you to go faster.
And this is why dark empaths are necessary. I cannot wait until he meets the right one.

This is generally true but I think we forget that manipulators KNOW that now. So they know how to be consistent at the right times to make you think they're not a manipulator. Manipulation evolves. They're always studying their prey, seeing what you believe, what your values are and trying to figure out how to exploit what you think. So please, the little tatics and things they tell you online to identify manipulators are true, but also outdated for some of the more sophisticated ones.

What is "consistent at the right times?" There's no such thing. Narcs and manipulators aren't evil masterminds. They rely on naïve people with weak boundaries to "benefit-of-the-doubt" them nonstop.
Works every time. Though the commenter above me is correct, they are getting smarter. The demon I was with started making excuses that seemed valid at the time to spend less time with me. He did that not just because he could do extracurricular activities with others, but that the less time he spent with me, the more the real him could be hidden. Pretending is hard work you know😂 and I was already starting to call him out.
