    I knew this was a five minute repair going in but it only took 3 minutes since I've lost all my hubcabs. I didn't even require tools.

    Thank You for the perfectly "imperfect world" version of removing the locking hub.
    Am a good penetrating oil soak and a 100 rubber mallet blows away!

    my locking hub is stuck really really bad. the locking ring I had to use locking pliers and twist it out like a centimeter at a time. I think it had seized or mechanically welded to the groove it sits in.
    I applied penetrating oil around the shoulder of the locking hub, and went at it pretty good with a hammer but... it wouldn't budge. I hit it a few times with a metal hammer and it cracked just a bit so I figured I better lay off and do some research. I thought maybe heat but I've never used heat on something like this before...
    Do you have any suggestions to getting the locking hub out? It seems to be completely seized onto the hub assembly. I'm at a loss...
    oh and they aren't stuck in or out of 4x4, 4x4 engages and disengages properly .. I need to replace the ball joints and gotta get that thing out of there...

    Just bought my truck... I noticed the dial on one of the hubs is backwards. Like the arrow is pointed in the opposite direction of the Free/Lock markings. In 4x4 it seems to pull the the side so one of them probably isn't locking. Got to go mess with it more but the snow is all melted now. Not sure if it's broken or just installed wrong? There are two dfferent brands going on... I don't think my wimpy jack is gonna lift this beast of a truck lol.

    Great video...i have an 2002 F250 super duty and sometimes my electric windows won't go down.... have to open and shut 2 to 4 times for the windows to work. Maybe a loose wire behind the door panel??? Thanks much....

      My driver window gets stuck shut if the door gets hot from sitting in the sun. Have to let it the door cool down in the shade or drive a few miles before the electric motor cools down. Then the window will go down.

    Hi! I have a 2001 f250. It makes a loud 'clan, clan' when the wheels begin to turn as I accelerate with the 4x4. Would it be the hubs? The sound is only when the hubs are lock, whem unlock no sound at all.

  • @rbaines89

    what about if there is a little bit of rust on the inside of the hub on the axle, does that all need to come off. I bought my truck without the front hubs and it has a little rust in there.

    my one hub is lose. ford put new bearings in it a while ago. I had/ still have a clunking noise under neath after putting on bilistien shocks and new sway bar bushings and end links?? Ford had already replaced the sway bar bushings. Next question. the truck 2000f250 4x4 powerstroke bought 2 years ago with 107k( yes a cream puff that was both garage kept and in my friends family) 7o me has extreme body roll at low speeds on rough in town roads.the truck now has 130-k o it. the springs I guess I'll call them progressive?? leafs attatch on top of and on the bottom of the shackles?? I'm unsure to dbl springs togther. am I old school in a new world or are the springs and other components already worn out?? every one says they don't make them, .
    guess they don't. my 1993 f250 4x4 idi purchased in 95 seems to have finally given up the ghost. 2nd body, metal in the oil and now a bad rear seal on top of everything else. total rust bucket from living/working on the beach! Still can't seem to dump an old friend. manual with a beach seat and side windows to boot. any help would be greatly appreciated! thank you.

    Does the front end need to be off the ground? Or can I do it with it sitting

    • @1AAuto
      @1AAuto  6 лет назад +1

      +T k You should be able to perform this repair while sitting on the ground. You may want to lift that side up though to make it a littler easier to service. Hope this helps you out. Have a great holiday season. 1aauto.com

    Hey guys! To remove WARN Hubs off this truck would it be the same process? Thanks!

    • @esserenterprises
      @esserenterprises 5 лет назад +1

      The warn hubs will be slightly different. They have 6-8 hex head bolts that need to be removed from the front cover of the locking unit. After you take that cover off there should be a spiroloc style locking ring that holds the locking hub into place instead of the one shown in this video. They are a bit trickier to remove than the one in this video as well

    Would you need an alignment after doing this?

    • @carrionwithout_me
      @carrionwithout_me 5 лет назад +1

      No, since you did not modify any light suspension related (tie rod ends, etc.) You would not need an alignment.

    HI im hearing a noise from my right front tire and the mechanic told me that it is the 4x4 hub locking assembly is were the noise is coming from as the brake pads are good and the rotors been turned. can this hub cause a grinding noise like a brake pad worn down noise

    • @1AAuto
      @1AAuto  10 лет назад

      Thank you for watching. This Locking Hub can cause noises like that. Here is a link to the part used in the video.
