haha! Thanks brother! I'm cheap as fuck, so I like to save a buck and fix my garbage for the lowest price! haha! It's the only way to get ahead in life! I'm still driving it too!
I have the same truck and the same Warn 11690 hubs. The snap ring that holds the hub lock assembly together keeps coming out on the RH side hub only, and I have no idea why. It's not coming out when I use 4x4. Maybe only when going down the freeway or something? I don't know! Y'all got any ideas why?
Make sure you bend up the outer tab on the ring, and also press the entire ring deeper in with a screwdriver. The outer bend makes it easier to pull out and also catches the inside of the hub to keep it a little snug. At least on my Warns it does. How are you finding it coming out, as the outer cap presses against it and should keep it equally secure. I run the premiums on my 01 Excursion.
Actually the best explanation if heard.. very good video lmfao ... I'm trying to figure out on the stock lock which one is free and which is lock since it's not marked
best way to figure this out is to jack up the front and turn the lock on the hub. If its in "free" position the axle won't spin along when you spin the tire. When hub is in "lock" position the axle will turn along when you spin the tire. Mark accordingly. Good Luck!
Man this comment from 3 years ago and yet that info just taught me something new after so long... The new one replaced are manufacturer marked I & I just changed out both at the time. But I hope someone needing this info to diagnose comes across your comment bc that's again good info. Thanks.
sounds good brother! yeah they worked flawlessly in the snow! easy to put into 4x4, worked with no issues! hit me up if you come across a snag or have any questions!
In your experience. What are your thoughts on the Warn hubs compared to the OEM? My hubs are about gone on my 2006 f250. I saw the new premium warn hubs in black. Really thinking about going that route
Yes you do. That retaining screw holds the gears and spring into place. You only need to remove it when you want to get in there and clean the gears and regrease it. Also, the grease that comes in the hub from the factory is sufficient enough and you won't need to add any before you install them for the first time.
I broke my locking hub and now all of the hub bolts are broken in the holes beyond repair. I've ordered parts to replace everything but I need to use the truck to snow plow for one day at least until parts come in. Does anyone know a trick to lock up the cv axle to the hub without a locker? I'm about to drill a bolt through the hub/cv axle or re drill new holes and tap new mounting points in between the old holes. I ordered: cv axles disk brakes new hubs bearings new warn lockers so I don't mind damaging parts as long as I can remove them later and have 4wd again for at least a day. Any ideas are greatly appreciated, thank you!
Well, I personally like to refer to it as "dirt n' shit"...haha! But thankfully no gravel went into it! As a matter of fact, I've been using these same hubs for the last 2 years on my old Ford and they're still running solid! Lot's of snow up here in New Brunswick! I've really been givin' em' the business, puttin' em' through their paces lately! Thanks for watching!!
That sounds like it's the wheel bearing....I had the same problem, and after i changed out the hubs, the vibration was still there. Then I had to replace both wheel bearings and that cleared it up.
In FREE and 4H is the front end limited slip? The same as OEM hubs in auto - or is there no engagement of the front end at all? Likewise in LOCK and 4H is the front end fully locked? The same as the OEM hubs in ON. Thanks.
Soooooo.....no worries about disconnecting the vacuum lines for the OEM auto locking hubs and plugging them? I wonder why Warn recommends it...hmm...I love Warn products yet their instructions are straight out of the 70's and worthless. Thanks for the video.
Nope, I never bothered unhooking the vacuum lines. I actually never even looked at the instruction manual to install them. They've been working A1, and this has been just over a year ago. Even when they get clogged up with ice and snow, the hubs still turn and click into place with no issues!
Yea....I'll give this piece of shit vid a thumbs up....and if I didn't have a new phone I'd throw it in the dirt too! Lol, nice job bud, love your style....
Love the precision in the explanation of parts, tools, and process. 😂🤣😂🤣.
Helped us shade tree DIY folks.
Outstanding! Best Trailer Park Boys skit I've ever seen. Can't wait to work on my truck!

Nice view of the inter workings, just finished my 02 after watching your video. Thanks for posting.
Your descriptive and fitting commentary makes the video well worth watching! Thanks. Buy a tripod or get your one friend to hold your camera phone!
I was able to find a tri-pod at a yard sale last month! $5 all in! haha!
I love this guy. Its like he is the internal voice in my head. Hilarious!
Best commentary I've seen in a while. Please keep making videos
So easy. Love your style, brother. Show me more tricks for my 7.3 - down here in San Diego, CA
Love this video regular guy working on his own shit! Good work bud!

Will this work to replace the vacuum actuated auto locking hubs?
did you ever find out?
No
@@nathanboogieman Actually it does work, I did it.
Can't seem to find myself subscribing after this video.
No one gives a shit
Great vid, no bullshit straight to the point,
This was both an informative and entertaining video. Thanks
Hilarious ,made me laugh the whole video ,now I can go get my warm hubs off ,thanks !
Right on! Yeah give er' a whirl! What's the worst thing that could happen?
Great video !!!! Thanks for the great info.
I need help with locking hub with the rim's that are outies. Got any advise how to remove those?
awesome sean your the man big help for sure especially with snow on the way
sounds good brother! yeah they worked flawlessly in the snow! easy to put into 4x4, worked with no issues! hit me up if you come across a snag or have any questions!
Sean Doherty will do
Might as well put some dirt in your engine oil while your at it bud Piss on it
👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
A little dirt surely ain’t going to hurt an old 7.3 ❕❕❕❕

@@Crack_the_Skye yea me too. Great investment for my truck. Easy to engage
This video was helpful and humorous lol
laughed my ass off....thanks for a great video
Well look at that fancy shit.
Why are there two different styles? Mine are gold and you have to turn them almost 360 to lock and unlock.
Oh frig, I dunno! These one are like a quarter turn, click! Letter' eat!
You got the premium hubs. The standard locking hubs are just chrome with the quarter turn black plastic
How the hell did you get that to slide in like that? I’m having a harddddd fucking time getting my warn ups to line up with the spline. It’s 30 spline
awesome video answered alot of questions
Joey Pariseau thanks man!
no problem sean i have one more question do you leave the retainer screw in that hold everything together underneath the cap
Yes you do. That retaining screw holds the gears and spring into place. You only need to remove it when you want to get in there and clean the gears and regrease it. new hubs
bearings
new warn lockers
so I don't mind damaging parts as long as I can remove them later and have 4wd again for at least a day.

how much gravel went in

So funny! Thanks man.
Mine are sezied in lock
Definitely change them out ASAP, as running 4X all the time will cost you lots of money. Depending on your truck, it's an easy fix.
I have a 2002 F250 and when I turn my 4 wheel drive it sounds like something rubbing and theres a vibration in my left wheel. Would this be my hub?
That sounds like it's the wheel bearing....I had the same problem, and after i changed out the hubs, the vibration was still there. Then I had to replace both wheel bearings and that cleared it up.
Nice video.

Vacuum lines are for Auto engaging hubs, no manual.
