Hello Vince, We do hope you stayed tuned in after hearing the price 🙂 . For us, this is one of the nicest sites we have ever stayed on and by no means the most expensive. The leisure complex was first class and the spacious and scenic touring park puts others to shame. We had the most enjoyable walks through National Trust land, visited ruins, a heritage centre and a little seaside town. We enjoyed dining in our caravan each evening with a lovely view and a sunset. All this and we didn’t spend a single penny all week. We had a marvellous time and made lots of memories too. Good value we think 👍. Kind regards, Rob & Gail 😀

Your video reminded us of how lovely the Holgate site and surrounding area is so we are here for two nights. First stayed on here in the 1970s and stayed on a number of times since but hadn’t stayed on here for over 20 years. We didn’t manage to get A9. But you are spoiled for choice. There are all excellent pitches.

We have had many great trips there as a kid. Still visit occasionally for food however our family business is now set in carnforth so no longer our holiday destination of choice with work around the corner! Glad you had a great time

Excellent video Rob. What a lovely place it is indeed. We go 3 times a year when the kids are on school holidays. October half tern, over New Year and February half term. Weve just returned last Sunday. We love the facilities there as well as being in such a nice area. Also when the schools are on holiday most if not all of those pitches are full. Fabulous place.

Wow. That looked like a great site. I normally avoid large sites as I feel like we're all on top of each other, but I loved how spread out the pitches were and the privacy hedging. Something the C&MC should look at more 🙄
This site was a breath of fresh air Tommo, literally 👍. It was a joy to stay here. We too like privacy hedges and a pitch with a view. We agree the club ought to look into planting more privacy hedges but I doubt we will ever get away from nose to nose pitching. Thanks for watching and all the best, Rob & Gail 😀
Great vlog Rob and Gail - looks a fantastic site but some of the approach roads look a little narrow - we went to the beach at Silverdale but it has signs up for sinking sand so we dare not go on it with the dogs 🤦♂️
Hi there Shaun and Sally, We were surprised at the roads too but at least not much traffic at this time of year. I suppose sticking to the arrival / departure times avoids meeting oncoming touring vehicles. It certainly wouldn’t put us off going again, it really was fantastic 👍. The heritage centre was very good and there was lots we didn’t film. They had taken the £2.50 admission charge off when we went. We can highly recommend this site and area 👍. Another good’n from you two thank you, you certainly had good weather. Can’t say it’s been too kind to us in 2024, Mrs D spent hours unsuccessfully looking for wooly gloves when at Tyddyn Du in June, hail shower and torrential downpour at Poolsbrooke a few weeks ago returning from Broadway. Off to investigate Troutbeck Head on Tuesday only an hours skip over the A66 for us so nice and handy, oil skins at the ready it is October after all. Regards to you both Chris & Mrs D.
Hi there Chris & Mrs D, Nice to hear of your approval. Perfect weather it was, what more can we say. Our June holiday at Haven Cleethorpes started off chilly too. Don’t think we’ve had many weeks without any rain at all this year. We recall a very wet weekend at Poolsbrook on our very first outing with the caravan. Our one and only ever standard pitch too ! Hello there Rob and Gail. I have a couple of questions for both of you.... What are most useful gadgets or cooking utensils/vessels (i.e for weight saving) you have come across for your caravan? Gail, I am also gluten free, so I'm wondering what meals you're cooking while away in the caravan. I'm getting a bit fed up with pasta and rice dishes 😂 Keep the fantastic videos coming 🙂👍
Hi there Scott and thank you for your comment. Our most useful lightweight item is our Dry:Soon heated towel airer from Lakeland, although we realise not every washroom has space for one / or would need one. Another favourite gadget is a small plug in ioniser air purifier to neutralise the air after cooking salmon etc. Not exactly weight saving but very handy for cooking outdoors is the electric Lakeland Remoska. It’s a low wattage 400w, one temperature setting cooking pan. Gail sometimes cooks sausage and onions, bacon & egg and skinned and boned chicken thighs. She uses it all the time at home but doesn’t do an awful lot of cooking in the caravan. After a full day out exploring we enjoy throw together easy meals such as cold meats, cheese and pickles, salads as well as pasta and rice dishes 😂. Pleased you are enjoying our videos 👍. It’s a brilliant tow car but it did unfortunately let us down twice (same air suspension problem) and two holidays were cancelled the same year. We’re both Derbyshire born and bred. In my early videos I tried to speak without the dialect but it came out robotic 😂 . My line of work is civil engineering so I have a practical mind. Thanks for your encouragement 👍. Thank you Mark, pleased you enjoyed the video 👍. We just use the mobile hotspot on the phone rather than installing the Avtex or Maxview Wi-Fi with SIM card. Don’t really want to pay for a second SIM as it would only get used when we go away. One negative using the hotspot is, depending on area, we sometimes find the signal is weak inside the caravan. Hello John, we’re going to have to pull our socks up and do better next time 🙂. We didn’t eat in the cafe so our filming was from a distance, with no menu in sight. However, we can tell you there is a gluten free fish and chip shop in Arnside called Arnside Chippy, just past the row of shops around the bend in the road. As for the bus stop we only saw it as we departed site for home so I took a quick clip and was slotted in with some careful editing 😁. We do know the bus goes to Silverdale and Carnforth. what a fabulous video of Holgates you made. We love this site and have been using it for winter season for the past 3 years. We only live 45min away so handy for quick weekend get aways in the winter. Glad the weather improved for you . Those pitches certainly give you a fabulous view and sunsets.
Ps the older couple in the distance when you return to your pitch was our neighbours Jackie & John 😂

Excellent video Rob. What a lovely place it is indeed. We go 3 times a year when the kids are on school holidays. October half tern, over New Year and February half term. Weve just returned last Sunday. We love the facilities there as well as being in such a nice area. Also when the schools are on holiday most if not all of those pitches are full. Fabulous place.

We can highly recommend this scenic site 👍. There was nothing about it we didn’t like. Yes we’ve been to Grange over Sands too and have an earlier video from Meathop Fell. Wow. That looked like a great site. I normally avoid large sites as I feel like we're all on top of each other, but I loved how spread out the pitches were and the privacy hedging. Something the C&MC should look at more 🙄
This site was a breath of fresh air Tommo, literally 👍. It was a joy to stay here. We too like privacy hedges and a pitch with a view. We agree the club ought to look into planting more privacy hedges but I doubt we will ever get away from nose to nose pitching. Thanks for watching and all the best, Rob & Gail 😀

Great vlog Rob and Gail - looks a fantastic site but some of the approach roads look a little narrow - we went to the beach at Silverdale but it has signs up for sinking sand so we dare not go on it with the dogs 🤦♂️
Hi there Shaun and Sally, We were surprised at the roads too but at least not much traffic at this time of year. I suppose sticking to the arrival / departure times avoids meeting oncoming touring vehicles. It certainly wouldn’t put us off going again, it really was fantastic 👍. The walk we did wasn’t a bucket and spade beach but it was firm enough to walk on. Hope you’re both well. Cheers, Rob & Gail 😀

Hello Keith & Helen, pleased you enjoyed the video. Not sure if you can book a specific pitch but you do get to choose your own on arrival. The heritage centre was very good and there was lots we didn’t film. They had taken the £2.50 admission charge off when we went. We can highly recommend this site and area 👍. Another good’n from you two thank you, you certainly had good weather. Can’t say it’s been too kind to us in 2024, Mrs D spent hours unsuccessfully looking for wooly gloves when at Tyddyn Du in June, hail shower and torrential downpour at Poolsbrooke a few weeks ago returning from Broadway. Off to investigate Troutbeck Head on Tuesday only an hours skip over the A66 for us so nice and handy, oil skins at the ready it is October after all. Regards to you both Chris & Mrs D.
Hi there Chris & Mrs D, Nice to hear of your approval. Perfect weather it was, what more can we say. Our June holiday at Haven Cleethorpes started off chilly too. Don’t think we’ve had many weeks without any rain at all this year. We recall a very wet weekend at Poolsbrook on our very first outing with the caravan. Our one and only ever standard pitch too ! We’ve also stayed at Troutbeck Head pre RUclips days. Remember the A66 being a pea souper. Hope you have a great time 👍. We’re heading for south Lincolnshire next. All the best, Rob & Gail 😀

We had a fantastic time and of course the weather made all the difference 🌞. Sea fog was great too, very atmospheric and we were treated to a sunset each evening 🦉.
Just perfect with National Trust landscape and lovely walks.
The heritage centre had lots of memorabilia we didn’t film. Bur Gail particularly enjoyed the Brief Encounter link. Yes we could have done our own version 😂.

What are most useful gadgets or cooking utensils/vessels (i.e for weight saving) you have
come across for your caravan?
Gail, I am also gluten free, so I'm wondering what meals you're cooking while away in the caravan. I'm getting a bit fed up with pasta and rice dishes 😂

Hi there Scott and thank you for your comment. Our most useful lightweight item is our Dry:Soon heated towel airer from Lakeland, although we realise not every washroom has space for one / or would need one. Another favourite gadget is a small plug in ioniser air purifier to neutralise the air after cooking salmon etc. Not exactly weight saving but very handy for cooking outdoors is the electric Lakeland Remoska. It’s a low wattage 400w, one temperature setting cooking pan. Gail sometimes cooks sausage and onions, bacon & egg and skinned and boned chicken thighs. She uses it all the time at home but doesn’t do an awful lot of cooking in the caravan. After a full day out exploring we enjoy throw together easy meals such as cold meats, cheese and pickles, salads as well as pasta and rice dishes 😂. Pleased you are enjoying our videos 👍. Great news to hear we have taken prime time viewing each evening 😁 . Gail and I are very impressed and we are pleased you like our style. Yes Olly, I take a pride in my car, 13 year old this month. It’s a brilliant tow car but it did unfortunately let us down twice (same air suspension problem) and two holidays were cancelled the same year. We’re both Derbyshire born and bred. In my early videos I tried to speak without the dialect but it came out robotic 😂 . My line of work is civil engineering so I have a practical mind. Thanks for your encouragement 👍. Hi Rob & Gail .... Brilliant video once again, bit of advice if you can , whats the best and cheapest way of getting mobile internet in the caravan ,?
Thank you Mark, pleased you enjoyed the video 👍. We just use the mobile hotspot on the phone rather than installing the Avtex or Maxview Wi-Fi with SIM card. Don’t really want to pay for a second SIM as it would only get used when we go away. One negative using the hotspot is, depending on area, we sometimes find the signal is weak inside the caravan. very informative video, although you didn't say where the buses went to. Did you eat at the cafe?, and if so how did Gail get on?
Hello John, we’re going to have to pull our socks up and do better next time 🙂. We didn’t eat in the cafe so our filming was from a distance, with no menu in sight. However, we can tell you there is a gluten free fish and chip shop in Arnside called Arnside Chippy, just past the row of shops around the bend in the road. As for the bus stop we only saw it as we departed site for home so I took a quick clip and was slotted in with some careful editing 😁. We do know the bus goes to Silverdale and Carnforth. Hi David, It’s really annoying when this happens. We’ve noticed other regular viewers comments are missing too. Clearly a glitch in the system, but not helpful to a small channel like ours.
