I remember when it used to be holimarine 50 years ago . We stayed at the cheaper place opposite and we used to sneak in to use the pool and watch tv !!!! Many , many laughs !!

I remember when it was Holimarine as well ,we first went in 1979 when it was much smaller. Went many more times and we were there when Live Aid was happening, watched it in The entertainment lounge which was called either the Norfolk lounge or the Suffolk lounge. Last went in 2011 the changes were significant and looks like there have been more since. Great little village and not far from Great Yarmouth.

It's great to see Hopton on here, I was a member of staff here for a long time. I must say the best place I have ever worked no joke. Unfortunately I need to find somewhere where to work that was all year round. The staff I worked with were some of the best ppl I have met. I'm so pleased for the great review. Injoying all your videos.

Hello Tim. I was quite surprised to see this today. They have made some major improvements over the years on that site. Good to see they are tackling the erosion. Just missed the Supersonic and entertaining Gaby and yourself in Southwold the other Sunday afternoon, you must come back down the coast when things are open and less windy. Enjoying the videos! I was staying at the park when the boulders were being offloaded. They had to be put in when the cliffs kept eroding and they nearly lost a few caravans one year. To the best of my knowledge the stone is Norwegian Granite. They could only bring it in dependent on tides, so sometimes they would be dumping it off the side of a flat bottomed barge/ship at 1am and the entire park would shake and rumble. It was a sight to see!
Holidaying in Hopton twice a year for 5 years is the reason we moved to Norfolk from London/Essex. We explored the county and fell in love. I dont get over to that side as much as I would like. I do have a soft spot for Hopton and Gorleston.
Also the plants at the Lake at Bullrushes.

Then in 2019 i brought my fiance for his birthday and we are going to visit again this year with our son. It is a truly amazing park and it is beautiful. My fiance loves bubbles he thinks the family who own/run it are the nicest people. All in all this holiday park is our favourite and we cant wait to be back lazing around the beach and exploring great yarmouth again 😊 Tim you do an amazing job with your walks, you and Gabby are always a pleasure to watch and learn about the history of these seaside towns 💕😊

My Grandad's name used to be on a plaque on a bench at that bowling green. Shame it looks like they've removed those benches since then, but it was a long time ago. He used to own a caravan there before he passed away in 98. Then my nan had ownership for a time before selling it off.
Also that pond seems to be one of the newest additions since my childhood, where there used to be a large park that I used to play a bit of kick about with a ball with my cousins.

Just been looking at some of the prices of those holiday homes at Hopton. Cor some of them are a bit expensive. You could go on a cruise for that.

Bullrushes! That is what those fluffy things are that you asked about. Once they get fed up with being long and brown they explode and scatter their fluffy seeds throughout the known universe, or at least the close vicinity.
I went to Hopton when was a nipper but have no memory of it because that was around 60 years ago and a lot of stuff has happened since then. Looking at the beach I do wonder why my father took us there as there are far better beaches in the area, which you have kindly shown us.

agree Barry not the best beach in the world but if you are on holiday its not bad

I live in Hopton and you might think the tide was high but it was nearly low tide. When the tide is high there is no beach at all, sadly

We used to have our caravan on this park, it is a lovely place with great facilities and a lovely beach. Sadly they didn’t keep to their commitment of an owners area of the park which meant we had new neighbours (rentals) every week, some of whom were not very pleasant to be around 😳
We moved off to a private park in Kessingland after a few years

Very smart caravan park. I wonder if Dot Cotton is at the laundrette or is she at church, as it’s Good Friday lol.
