    It appears from internet searches that Grand Junction's crime rate is nearly double the national average (per capita), driven mostly by higher rates of burglaries and theft...Your experience?

    • @LivinginGrandJunctionColorado
      @LivinginGrandJunctionColorado  2 года назад +7

      Unfortunately, those "On Line Stats" can cause a very misleading narrative because of our small population of 65,000 in comparison to, say, a Los Angeles or New York. You'll notice other, and what I would consider more important, crime metrics that show us well below the National Average. Christie has grown up here since 1975 and I've been here since 2006. Neither of us or any of our friends, family or Clients have ever had any issues. Some folks still leave their doors unlocked. We feel completely safe in our quaint little town!

    There is not a week that stops us in our tracks and thankful for the brilliant decision to move here.
    The first year was an adjustment. People we didn’t know would wave to us and I had to check I wasn’t wearing a huge bright yellow hat. One of first things we realized was the melting away of stress. You could never give me a reason to go back. Every where we go, it’s soooooo simple to strike up conversations. Please dont make click bait videos like this... Some people read the title and just assume you don't want them in your city/state/etc.. and move on. This trend of posting a negative title and then turning it around to positives is old and done. Be original or just straight up honest, people appreciate honesty. These click bait switcharoo videos come off dishonest and like trickery, and who wants to deal with a dishonest trickster, they are not cool.

    10 Facts:
    1. Grand Junction leans toward Conservative, old-fashioned family values. Folks here love freedom, the flag, the 2nd Amendment and hunting.
    2. The individuality is strong. It's a 'live and let live' culture.
    3. Not for "misanthropes." If you don't like being around people, then don't come here. People in Grand Junction are really friendly and will go out of their way to say hello.
    4. It is super dry. The average annual humidity is really low. Stock up on lotion and drink lots of water. Plus this town is 4,500ft above sea level.
    5. Some of the scores of some of the local schools are mediocre to lower-end scores. That said, since Colorado is 'school-of-choice', you can petition to send your kid to the desired public school. Also, there are charter schools. Do your research.
    6. The local airport has only 5 direct flight stops.
    7. The local road construction seems never-ending. Luckily, the average commute time is only 14 minutes.
    8. If you're in your mid/early 20s and you're not going to school here at Colorado Mesa University, there is not a lot of nightlife for you. There are a lot of outdoor activities but there's hardly any nightlife.
    9. The median home price is about $350K, which means half are selling above $350K and half are selling below $350K.
    10. There are a ton of different areas you can move into, and looking at photos online doesn't tell the whole story. The North area, the South area, the Redlands, Fruita, Palisade. A $300K home in Fruita is completely different than a $300K home in the Northwest or Northeast.

    • @marionmeister4268

      How does a 300k home in Fruita compare to one in the Northweast or Northeast?

    • @LivinginGrandJunctionColorado
      @LivinginGrandJunctionColorado  10 дней назад

      @@marionmeister4268 a $300K home in Fruita will feel pretty similar to a $300K home in the NE although the NE will feel a bit more "busy" or congested than Fruita. You'll be hard pressed to find a $300K home in the NW area. Remember, our "Median" Home Price is $400K as of this response.
