I feel so bad for the Eee PC. It screams so often just asking for the display resolution to be fixed but Dank just closes all the popups instead of fixing the problem the popups are trying to help him to solve.

I feel good about that. My dad had an Eee PC, and it was an awful piece of shit, the fucker had to be formatted multiple times because it thought the volume button was always pressed, so there was a messy pop-up with the volume that appeared all of the time, and the volume had to be on max all the time. It was also laggy as hell, actually unusable. I had to use it for school for a week and it was awful, do not know how my dad resisted throwing the fucker out of the window.

The Bean was, in fact, my first MP3 player (and my mom's too). For listening to some Bon Jovi and AC/DC on the school bus in middle school or walking around the neighborhood for exercise (her use), it was perfect. The software wasn't that bad, all things considered. The problem is that the rail pin (for lack of a better term) was held in with glue and that glue wore down. I was a kid and didn't have super glue, so I couldn't fix mine.
Also that CHKDSK thing could be turned off via a command line string.

No problems with either, and I think it's been over 8 years since I got ANY kind of malware. (BIG CAVEAT: IF YOU'RE RUNNING AN ENTERPRISE SYSTEM, IT MUST BE KEPT SECURE AND FULLY UPDATED AT ALL TIMES)
Keep regular backups, always be suspicious of links in emails, and scan every shady executable using VirusTotal. And finally, just don't be stupid. Even with a Windows 10 PC fully updated, it can still be compromised if you're a dumbass. Microsoft tries to make everyone think nowadays that if you don't get the latest updates for every single one of your Windows PCs, they'll explode.
Oh, and finally, the ironic thing is, really old Windows OSes like XP and 98 SE are technically more secure than later versions because barely anyone's running that OS anymore so malware writers are not gonna target it nearly as much and are instead gonna focus on OSes with lots of marketshare.

As a computer security person, lol at all those people who (shockingly still) look back on the XP days with nostalgia.

I never had actual info they could steam nor i cared if my pc was a zombie for ddos attacks or whatever so security was irrelevant for me, thats why i can see it with nostalgia

I still hold nostalgia for easily understood system requirements.

XP had the benefit of being supported during a long time in which hardware advanced substantially but the OS wasn't destroyed by trying to look hip and modern. In some way it just worked.

"With these dress-making scissors this is hard"
Yeah, because even though they're massive scissors, they're meant for cutting fabric, not plastic.

If I had a nickel for every time I saw a bean-shaped music player, I'd have two nickels, which isn't alot but it's weird it happened twice

Sony - We like engineering so much that we replaced our marketing and legal departments with engineers. Now we have a trademark for Atrac3.

I’d rather have enginerds take over marketing than the other way round.

I used a different Sony player back in the day and, yep, SonicStage was like that all along. Slightly less inscrutable with a higher resolution though. And it was alright at ripping CDs. But when I used iTunes I was like “oh this is what it’s trying to be”. I never ever touched the online music store, nor its transcoding capabilities (ATRAC is what MDs used, so of course Sony utilised it in their players even though they knew they had to have MP3 and WMA and AAC support as well), nor any of that stuff. It was just a puffed-up file browser I had to use and which made the players unusable on Macs.

it's actually really annoying to me that he refuses to read the instructions, it literally says on the popup and he instantly jumps to conclusions, just like come on dude it's the same as apple with the instructions
