I really appreciate that you weren't plugging products. Instead, you just presented information that you thought would be helpful. That's great. Thanks
Why is there 65 dislikes on this video? This God like information, lol. I'm a new, amateur twitch streamer and am looking to improve my audio device for better/best quality when speaking to my viewers. I currently run Microphone condenser xlr to 3.5mm jack with multiple splitters that includes Elgato chat link, and a Y splitter so I have a mess of wires coming out of my xbox1 controller lol. Was looking into mixers and interface, but also learned the audio configuration I have on OBS directly from the software to tune the audio I'd like to test, compression, waste gate, eq, etc. Thank you for the video after two years of upload.
I really like how you talked about some basic FAQ about xlr's. It really does help when you want to use something but have no idea why it is what it is!
Oh so what kind of price should you aim for for a pre-amp? know every amp is different but still at least to the price point area where it wont be detrimental
good info!! what would be a good mixer in that 200-300$ range that still offers a good dac and amp for entry level audiophile setup? i want to be able to drive a DT 990 pro for gaming with the 32 ohm variant but i also want to be able to plug that into my soundbar until i eventually get studio speakers. also what would be a good xlr mic to pair with that 200-300$ mixer?? would i need to get a separate amp for these headphones??
This actually helped a ton, I just bought myself an XLR microphone and the cable is XLR to 3.5 mm auxiliary and I'm getting really bad interference. I'm learning how to play instruments among other things and I'm brand new to the world of sound so any advice is appreciated.
I've been doing a lot of research on this and I'm going with the Centrance MixerFace R4R (has AMAZING preamps!). All I need are 2 XLR inputs, gain control and good preamps. The boom mic was a lot more difficult to choose because I'm spending most of my audio budget on the preamp with option to upgrade the mic later (which I will down the road). I think I'm going with the Audio-Technica AT897, the older brother to the wildly popular AT875R. The AT897 just sounds more bassy to me and less of those harsh "sss". I hope I'm making a good choice because I'm basing this all off of RUclips reviews/audio tests. Also going with the braided XLR cords because I'll be doing a lot of interviews at random locations. Wish me luck! And thank you for this overview of XLR! :D
I just bought a XM8500 with the UCM22 and I have no clue how to play with the settings. I plugged in the cables (xlr and usb cable) and downloaded the driver and that’s it. How do I change the way how I’m going to sound? And also I hear background noise like my mouse clicking or my pc fan how do I adjust noise gate? There is also a static noise when recording and besides that I use radeon relive to record and whenever I record and rewatch it I hear the sound in my left ear only so that means it records in stereo. I tried changing the settings in relive but there is no option to change to mono. Then I tried OBS where I could change my audio to mono so I would hear the audio in both ears and then I noticed that the capture quality is really bad with OBS. I switched some settings, watched youtube tutorials, applied everything still bad capture quality. So what do I do now? Which software do I use to make my mic sound better like noise gate, remove the static noise etc.. and what software am I going to use to actually record now... I’m so lost.
Well... it isn‘t less likely, that a USB microphone would fail. After all, it has the basic stuff integrated to it. The mic itself, a preamp, an ADC, - and if it has a headphone output - a DAC and headphone amp. I don‘t see, how it makes any difference to the stream. If hardware is broken, it is broken. Bad luck. And talking about audio chains and issues while tuning sound: Other than you have it in hardware, if going XLR vs having it in software, if going with a USB Microphone, the issues are pretty much the same. Tuning sound on one point of the chain can clash with something later on in the chain. Other than that, this was a great, great video! I‘m leaving a like!
I really want to get either the Blue Spark SL Blackout, or the Blue Encore 100, (encore 100 id rather use), but i have no idea what mixer/audio interface to get(help lol). Sure, the GoXLR sounds great, but 1) it's pretty expensive, 2) cant find anywhere that sells it currently. Even the GoXLR Mini. Out of stock almost every where or the price is marked up wayyyy high.
Oops, commented too soon. Just saw you using the Scarlett... Have been looking at that one for a while now! since that pretty much answered my question, should i go with the blue spark sl blackout, or the encore 100?

Just getting into streaming, already have a bunch of xlr mics. For recording music levels going on are fine. On stream it’s just ridiculously low. I know that’s not. Lot to go on but if you have any tips I’d appreciate them
@@ridhaali yes. They are much sturdier (stronger, solid in construction) connections than 3.5 or 6.25mm connections. @@HobbyistPCs I suppose in the case of 3.5 or 6.25 jack, the port also needs to be balanced right not just the connectors? If so are typical 'phone' ports in mixers such as Yamaha MG12 balanced or unbalanced?

@Israel Salgado Exactly I also thought that this cannel must be pretty big :) Sound is very good as well as whole video is very imformative
Can you tell me what pairs best with a Samsung q2u
Hey what Audiointerface/Microphone combination would u recommend me with a good price/worth ratio ? Good video :) awesome background. Greets

Very interesting how the acronym of XLR actually means nothing fancy at all.

Yeah mate that ain't gonna work
A 3.55 jack to a usb? Maybe, sure:
But a 3.55 to a c-type micro USB? No way lol

Doesn't the same interference cancelation apply to 3.5mm or 6.25mm balanced jack connector?
Yes. A balanced cable is a balanced cable. They all cancel out interference. XLR connectors are more secure and sturdy in comparison
@@HobbyistPCs secure means they latch on tighter? And what's sturdy?

We have the same case & Liquid Cooler.

Absolutely! Getting a "professional" sound will take some extra work, but you can totally swing it

love the little history about xlr. Canon 4 life
@4:47 I wasn't paying attention and I grabbed my phone.
Would a £40 xlr setup (including audio interface) be better quality than a £100 usb gaming headset?
i just want a cool mixer on my desk
