    Heck of a job man, sometimes I consider undercutting the whole job when I get wild carpet, nothing worse than tucking something and realize it needs another bump up, pisses me off

      Oh man that sucks

      Well yeah if you undercut then you can just send a little more carpet under the wall, I hate getting patterns and no tuck space

    It's scary, but if you know your walls are absolutely parallel, do your long stretch and set that wall. Double tackstrip is your friend here.
    Now, stretch 3 or 4 times in width to get a feel for how much it will stretch in width. Trim that first couple of feet on an even row as if you were going to tuck it in.
    ... don't tuck it in. Using your stretcher, release it from the tackstrip, then use a row cutter and pre trim the entire wall.
    Now, stretch it back in place for a couple feet then tuck that in.
    Set this wall on the tacks and make a couple of long stretches to the opposite wall.
    NOW..... Go back and stretch your pre trimmed wall perfectly even and tuck it in. Gutsy? Maybe.
    Raised baseboards help on this process, but not required.
    Once the width is stretched, go finish the length.
    If my description is confusing, I'm simply saying that once you make a few stretches in width to know how much stretch you'll get ....... Do the finished width trimming before you stretch it........ It's going to end up there anyway, right?

    Surprised them teeth on the stretcher did cause problems on the face of the carpet . I'd worry about them pulling loops. Id probably of went to a cotton head..looks awesome very time consuming. Watching you work is like watching Bob Ross paint . You make it looks so easy but we both know it's not

      I keep a metal file to take the bend off of the teeth on my stretcher when I do LCL carpets works if your in a position where you can’t get a cotton head attachment

    • @FloorsbySouthernboys
      @FloorsbySouthernboys  10 месяцев назад +1

      Trust me, I was a little concerned about that, and even pushing the loops through the backing. I will have a cotton head before I do another one.

    I would suggest investing in a cotton head attachment for your power stretcher for carpets like this

      Definitely agree about the cotton head. I know there’s one person who says cotton head should not be used on wool but they’re just flat out wrong.
