I'm on disability in legislated poverty at 11K a year. This will never be an option for me. Maybe at $100, it would be something to consider. that 55 times less than the current price in Canadian dollars.
13.7 million households in the US make over 200k a year. Millions of people can afford of it if they want it. For millions of people the price is not all that premium.
@@AlessandroPhotoss Just because people can afford that price doesn't make the price premium. Who makes the price premium is what you can buy with the same amount of money. It's not luxury. It's not Hermes bag. But it is a Gucci bag. Which is a premium product. You're paying massive amounts of money for something that you can do with a PC the cost $800 and a meta quest 3 which you can buy for 350 used. Which would give you a ton more use cases for it. And a better experience because you're getting a desktop GPU. They didn't have enough content on it to make it worth the price point. The thing about economics too is a lot of those households that are making $200,000 a year live in areas in the United States where it's extremely expensive to live. So the medium household income in America is $74,000 a year. So when you take 74,000 a year and you say you want to spend $4,000 of that on a headset. That you're going to use for part-time video watching that's a big ask. It's not the phone. People spend thousands of dollars on their phone because they use it a ton. It's more like an iPad. The sweet spot Apple is realized for most iPad users is 3 to $500
The worst thing Apple could do is to stop producing new content before their next Vision product is released. They have to keep the new and existing users raving about the content or nobody will be thinking forward to next one.
We cut it out of the video to shorten the runtime but we did have a segment that talked about their new partnership with Blackmagic camera, which should help expand the amount of content being produced in the Apple Immersive Video format. - Josh
They won't stop, they don't care what those are saying, who can't even recognize the show what they watched.. because Developer Conference (WWDC) made for developers, announced for developers, here is their developer toolkit to start to work on their apps.. they will release a cheaper version too for the regular users, when developers made enough apps for the store, to show them a proper store page instead of empty store.. until that, this is just a dev tool to make fantastic apps like Lapz, without the Vision Pro that app can't improve, so when regular users will buy a Vision Air the app will be ready..
VR enthusiast here. There is a lot of distracting glare in the vision pro. There just is. If someone says there isn't any, they're lying. You can mitigate it somewhat but it ruins the viewing experience. There's literally no Apple Immersive content. You can watch it all in a single afternoon, the entire catalog. It's pretty bait and switchey in my opinion to release a $3500 product and 6 months later there's still nothing.
Yup, the only thing this thing had going for it was the status symbol of owning one but after the backlash of this overpriced underpowered flop most people just laugh when they spot a vision pro in the wild "poor guy got scammed" 😂
You’ve gotta love an opinion that insists that contrary opinions are LIES. That’s a mind you want to lead you to conclusions. My AVP is awesome and I’m glad I sold my favorite kidney to buy it. I’m sorry anyone disagrees. Then there’s the statement that there’s no Apple immersive content. That’s verifiably inaccurate. Have a good one, folks who probably won’t listen.
@@westmcgee9320 Name the Apple Immersive content. Name it. I watched it all in one day. There is just about nothing. There's 3D Videos and if you consider putting a flat screen in Bora Bora than sure, there's tons. What you are doing right now is lying.
Someone needs to talk more about the professional uses. I’m a mechanical engineering student, and using mine to see assembled CAD projects and products before printing or submitting has been amazing.
I’m an architect and have two primary uses for it which has been very successful. First, I obviously use it for 3D client presentations. I have the 3D model from my CAD software converted to USDZ which natively opens in the Vision Pro (and any Apple device) without the need for an app. I don’t even have my clients use guest mode. I stream the VP’s view to my laptop and coach them through it. The second, I have set up a very nice mobile office in my SUV. I move the front seats forward and have a very roomy area to sit in in the back seats. I have a DJI Power 1000 for a TON of power for laptop, VP, etc., and I work under shade trees at the beach or in the mountains (I live in Hawaii so they’re quick to get to). I then open my laptop into 4K mode on the VP virtual monitor and have my text, email, music and browser apps surrounding it… with enough open space to see the beach view beyond. I am IMMENSELY happy with my professional use of it!
Most professionals don't use Macs though and Apple refuses to allow their systems to play nice with non-Apple products so its unlikely to catch on for professional use in most cases. If it wasn't made by Apple or they weren't so strongly against customer choice that could be quite different. For example I was i itially very interested for its virtual screens. I often work with multiple computers simultaneously, and having them appear in 3D space as virtual screens I expect would have been productive. Except I need to also access Windows and Linux machines and of course Apple refuses to allow that use case. So I have zero interest in the product.
@@Me__Myself__and__I it’s quite easy to do this. There are many apps that let you stream windows and Linux displays, and it works with multiple instead of being limited to one like through the official Apple way.
@@Me__Myself__and__I This is contrary to what I've known. Macs *main* use is for work and productivity...gaming and less serious uses not so much. Professionals use them because they work better than windows/linux in certain situations. At least at the company I have experience with.
I mostly use mine for 3D movies, the new music videos, concerts and other immersive experiences are cool but they need more of it for mainstream events. Had they done the Olympics that would’ve been really cool
I would pay some serious money for some great Apple Immersive Video shots of the surfing competition! I do hope someone does live sports in this format soon. Thx for the comment! - Josh
They do sports events like that on Quest all the time, sat ringside for UFC and NBA games which was pretty cool, plus you get controllers to play your sport of choice as well lol
The whole immersive experience angle is how they could really sell this even at the current price. Who wouldn't love to be able to travel the world from your home. Plane travel, airport customs, standing in lines, buying bus passes, struggling with language barriers, etc is rarely fun. The plane fares, hotels, tour guides, etc are expensive too. And it isn't easy if you have small children, if you have physical issues, etc. Also some environments have a lot of downsides like the risk of crime, temperatures, diseases/viruses, etc. And what happens if a member of your travel company becomes ill before or during the travel? Then there's the additional costs of taking time off. Plus sometimes I'd like to explore a place in bits and pieces over time, not all crammed into a week or two. When you travel virtually you could experience things real time (telepresence) or you could experience a pre-recorded session. It's hard to time a trip/visit with an event like an animal migration, rocket launch, eclipse/meteor shower, aurora borealis, festival/ceremony, etc. Safaris come down to a lot of lucky timing and you still may not get that close. Imagine being IN a Discovery Earth setting with David Attenborough literally at your side. Much better than being restricted behind the ropes at the Louvre trying to see the Mona Lisa, behind glass, from 10 feet away. You also mention concerts. All of the above hassles and risks are present with concerts. How cool would it be to have a backstage tour, VIP meet and greet, and the perfect seating and sound? Of course there will be benefits to actual travel - especially the culinary aspects. We can still travel, but we can visit first virtually to prioritize where we want to go. If resorts got into the content creation we could tour them to decide which resort met our preferences and even which part of the resort we wanted to stay in. We could figure out ahead of time which attractions, restaurants, neighborhoods we want to visit - making the actual physical visit better. The $3500 cost to be able to explore a large catalog of different places when we want, in nice bite-sized pieces is a bargain. I'd even be happy to pay it twice to have my friend/spouse/family member along to share it with. I'd also consider paying small additional fees for specialized content. This could really enhance the last years of our retirement/life - heck, even if it was to go visit casinos virtually. 😁 Hanging out with remote friends and family is another big win. I often wish I lived closer or could teleport to visit them. If most of my friends/family had a device already because of the above virtual travel/events benefits, then it would be more likely we'd be able to connect virtually... not just at their home, but in an environment of our choosing. The multiple screen use case for work/productivity is very appealing to me, but not with this form factor. The headset needs to be open air, easy to put on and take off, lightweight, comfortable, and it would help if it didn't look too dorky if I'm using in public. I think Immersed's Visor will be the best option for that in the near future.
Does it have the Skybox VR Media Player like OCULUS? The same exact one?? Or any player that can delete files from the windows shares? So watch videos and be able to delete them afterwards (good for sorting content)..?
My cousin bought one of these for my dad's 50th bday. The thing is we live outside of US and it turns out u can barely use it cuz of regional limitations. Now we got a "Dust Collector V3500" lol
As someone who works in a tech company, This is why you should generally avoid 1st gen products. They're meant to get user feedback mostly from the early adopters before it can be refined for the mass market.
I think your intro is how most people feel about the product. It's novelty, and little else. I don't want something strapped to my head all day, thank you very much. Phones are dystopian enough.
Visionos2 has fixed about 90% of the issues I had with the first OS. I’m actually thoroughly impressed how tweaking a few things has completely changed my view of the headset.
I agree that $1500 is the perfect price! I want one, but not for the current price it’s at. It just isn’t worth it and like you said, “over-engineered”
Yeah, give it a couple years. They’ll perfect the technology and they’ll get it down in price. Right now it cost more than a 65 inch OLED which is kind of crazy because most people would prefer just to go with the big TV
I agree with Zuckerberg in that it's a worse product than the Quest 3 _even if it was at the Quest 3's price_ (when you factor in the walled garden, lack of content, etc.), which means even 1500$ is significantly too expensive for it. Yes It has some really great features that one should not expect to pay Quest 3 prices for, but it comes with so many downsides that reduce the value of the product to a really bad level.
The most difficult thing about Vision Pro is the cost. A Quest 3 can do 95% of what the Vision Pro can do for 1/7 the cost AND the Quest 3 still has a very nice screen AND viable 3rd party accessories. Also, as good as the integration of working off a macbook is, the app "Immersive" is a far better implementation. Obviously the OLED screens are far better but how does that actually affect the experience compared to a Quest 3? oooook. The Airpods Pro are really nice when watching a movie off the Apple Tv using spatial audio and head tracking. I'll give you that. But it's no match to a real speaker system that's setup properly. Just as a large projection screen feels tremendously better than watching a movie in VR.
I am a tech consultant and have been working with various professionals. For instance, one of my interior designer clients is planning to incorporate the Vision Pro into his daily work. My client uses the Vision Pro to review 3D assets of furniture and decor items, as well as for virtual staging. These workflows are not as practical on a MacBook or even the iPad Pro.
@@LBMust no .. I have 4 headsets and also a Mac user . I am not buying it because I cannot use it for anything whatsoever. Games (I play) don’t run on my Mac and I do not watch movies, play kids games or interested in anything it offers. Simply no use case for me.
Neat. Too bad not everyone weighs the same and most people realize it's a bulky, unbalanced mess. I am pretty sure all the "you get used to the weight" people are either REALLY muscular, or, more likely, desperately trying to convince theselves that they didn't waste $3500 on a gimmick that, even Apple already, seems to be trying to distance themselves from. It's like all the people a few years ago that tried to convince the world that AppClips would take over.
@@CameronGrumetcan you elaborate? I’m interested in buying one and have seen a lot regarding comfort. I’m not terribly worried about it because of my stature and such, but figured I’d line up potential solutions before buying.
@@mooseywoosey8734 I found that originally more than the weight being an issue, it pressed down on my cheeks and forehead causing headaches. I tried multiple light seals but none fixed it. I bought the AnnaPro head strap and it puts more of the weight on the top of my head pushing down instead of on my face.
I wear a VR headset 2-3 hours almost every day (sim racing mostly). I am also a mac/ipad/iphone/apple watch user for work and everything ... but gaming. At this price: no. With this design: no. Without games (I would play) on mac: no. Too heavy/big for AR. No real apps for me to warrant this for VR. I just cannot find one single thing I would/could do with this to be honest. Yes, I agree, if it had a PC compatibility for actual serious games (sim racing, sim flying, etc), and it was 1/3rd the price I would consider it with an aftermarket head-strap. Like this, I would play with it for a week and it would go on the shelf me looking at my 2 32'' Asus monitors attached to my Mac Studio .... and the Quest 3 on the PC ...
This is mostly spot on. I've had one since launch and this review encompasses exactly how I feel. I do love mine. The only thing I disagree with is I have a very small case that I used to travel and it's incredible for that.
The video could have ended after the first point. It's a $3,000 device who's best purpose is "novelty experiences" of which there are few. You can only watch the dinosaur so many times before it becomes silly. And most people are looking for productivity, not games, in these devices. Gaming is a small market relative to productivity. Vision Pro failed to attract tmits target market and failed to offer anything relevant to gamers.
It reminds me of early IMAX where you could only see novelty type movies (flyover of Grand Canyon etc.) in somewhere like a theme park. It took literally decades for IMAX movies to become more mainstream for "real" movies, and even then it's only suitable for a small minority of films.
I was very impressed with the football and basketball game examples. Will Apple start to have their own cameras at live events so we can feel like we’re there?
Certainly a neato device, but is there a little bit of sunk cost fallacy here for the super fans? It's so expensive for what it is. I still don't see how it's worth that price.
When I tried it at the Apple Store , it felt so heavy and uncomfortable for some reason idk. Maybe I didn’t take my time to adjust cuz im introverted and don’t complain but still it was so heavy and my neck got tired so fast.
No. It's a prosumer product with no competition in a segment Apple is good at compared to making a gaming headset-a segment that have gaming headset manufacturers that have yet to find their proper niche balancing what they're willing to manufacture to actually make a profit and make the games/software high-end AAA gamers want to pay for such headsets. The Meta Quest headsets-that are primarily cheap to appeal to budget and casual gamers and support Meta's metaverse aspirations-have yet to make profit losing billions. PSVR2 and Valve Index have yet to be invested in to allow game devs to make games on par and better than non-VR games-gaming headsets don't even have HDR.
Well, as a quest 3 user I really hope vision pro takes off and doesn't flop. What it means for the vr industry in general will be great. It is only going to keep meta on their toes and better iteration of next gen. Honestly I feel like we are only about 1 or 2 generations away from meta quest crossing that threshold where screen clarity is going to be more than adequate for it to be genuinely a productivity device. Throwing apple into the mix will only make it better.
Worst move was pricing out the general public out the gate. If it was way more affordable people would’ve justified purchasing it in their own way. More peoples hands being on it would’ve pushed VR/AR into the forefront of everyone’s mind. Several hundred thousand product testers would’ve helped them sort out issues of glare, motion sickness, tracking, app development/use, streaming videos, gaming, and much much more. At $3500 no one in their right mind would by it for chess and Candy Crush, and the dinosaur experience. Plus it’s way to fragile, to many people have complained about the front splitting in several areas with out any impact. The Vision Pro should’ve been ready and on sale on par with other headsets on the market, not some “pay for a premium and wait for us to abandon it in less than a year” device.
7:15 I used it on a plane and can confirm that storing it in its case does take up space in the limited baggage you’re allowed. You can work that out by having it around your neck, an excellent discovery I recently made, and keeping the case in one of your bags...filled with clothes or something. Anyway, it was excellent for finishing a series I rarely have time for at home, without disrupting anyone else or having a tiny screen.
This thing being bought for 7k was always going to be a fail It’s like having the ability to buy a roller coaster for your backyard……it’s gonna be fun af at first, and cool to show your friends and have them enjoy it, but are you really gonna be hopping on that thing daily 6months to a year later or is it gonna be boring after after a certain amount of time? This is why novelty is never a good long term investment
It's a prosumer headset that certainly doesn't make that analogy fit for it; if you have limited use for a prosumer product, you're probably not the target audience, and that's OK. Not everyone can justify the Pro Display XDR, Mac Studio, iPad Pro, nor Mac Pro either.
@@lilkwarrior5561 Have u watched any of these 6 month later videos pal? Literally NO pro users have a need for this thing anymore because its a GIMIC. If anything, they still use it to watch movies with.... A "prosumer" or "professional" user doesnt NEED this to watch movies, but a wealthy person who can afford an expensive piece of tech that provides entertainment can tho....much like owning your own roller coaster in your backyard 🤑
@@LooksFrosty …Your point is completely void by the fact there is no stand-alone that can output as a portable secondary monitor as good as this. Other ones don’t even have Dolby HDR or any professional/premium HDR support line this headset. 2.0 literally just released with HIGHER resolutions and modes such as its 5K2K ultrawide monitor mode that even make your point moot. And that’s before the fact this standalone headset has the most powerful APU to do meaningful things + iPad app support that has an. abundance of productive apps
Thank you so much for this amazing review. You just saved me spending $3600 on the Vision Pro. Like you said maybe one day when it’s 1500 I might do it but under no circumstances am I spending $3600 to make my movies cool
@@Bloooo95 When material science allows for greater advancements in size and weight combined with greater processing....you will be Johnny Neumonic, and apple should make sure to be the leader in that. Plus theyve already come this far.
@@treasonwhat4 We’ve hit a wall in terms of miniaturization and it’s called quantum mechanics. You cannot make transistors any smaller without preventing quantum tunneling of electrons. That’s why hardware has moved away from miniaturization and towards specialization of hardware to see performance gains. But we’ve had countless motivating use cases to make compute smaller (e.g., laptops, smart phones, and smart watches). VR will not motivate innovation here. There’s already plenty of motivation. The issue is physics is getting in the way. Also, VR hardware is not new and it’s still uncomfortable. That’s not going to be avoided. Many people hate wearing glasses for several reasons: comfort being one of them. We’re not gonna make a VR headset that’s anywhere as comfortable or as convenient as a pair of glasses (a simple technology that people still get LASIK eye surgery to avoid wearing).
Except.... if you've been paying attention to the last 60 or so years, you'd know that no. It's not. This has been tried over and over and over for decades by the biggest names of the times. Apple, Microsoft, Google, IBM, Sony, Samsung, etc. They have ALL flopped because nobody wants to wear something heavy on their face that does what a laptop or phone does, but worse.
17:00 Whether to recommend getting it is different from whether it is a good product. The former must consider the price. The latter does not require that consideration. I wouldn’t recommend getting a $1500-2000+ tv. But plenty of people find that to be worthwhile. This is an amazing tv, movie theater, mobile device, 3D camera and display, that can do way more than most mention in their videos. It’s easy enough to cost-justify it in a world in which people pay $1200 for their phones… every 2-3 years - particularly if you can do those other things with it. Having first-person video of interactions with the little ones is INCREDIBLE and has lead to some misty eyes in this household.
The price, the lack of content and the weight of the headset were all deal breakers for me. The launch of the Apple Vision actually spurred me to upgrade my Quest 1 to a Meta Quest 3 which I've thoroughly enjoyed with a ton of content options because the platform has been around for such a long time. At the end of your video you mentioned the need for a prescription for people who wear glasses, which I do. This was the moment I stopped the buy process. I have never needed my glasses using the Q3.
I only have a metaquest 2 and my favourite use cases are playing walkabout golf with friends for regular catch-ups and watching movies particularly on airlines. I watched some movies on short 2 hr travel and I can never go back. Last international flight I watched and slept in my VR headset for the 14 hr flight there and back. I preload movies and therefore watch none of the onboard plane media. VR tricks your mind into thinking you aren't squashed into a seat when you are watching a screen that is 15m away in a grand cinema. It feels like virtual comfort to forget I'm squashed for 14 hrs, which is amazing. I think vision pro would only be better for plane viewing. But the lack of controllers seriously hampers it's versatility with gaming.
When watching 3D movies just make the screen smaller and you won't get motion sick, it's that easy. Enjoying 3D movies are one of the best uses of this technology.
Definitely worth every penny for me. Looking forward to Vision OS 2 for the dual 4K virtual screen. I use mine mostly for a virtual screen as a developer. Of course, I do have the developer cable and a 40Gbps usb c cable attached to my mac to bypass using the wifi. The result, zero lag time. Best part is, I can still run native apps on the AVP while using the virtual screen. So, it’s like having a TV on the background while doing work and nobody in the office will know even the pesky network guys because my AVP is tethered to my iPad Pro for wifi. 😂
Thanks for reminding me i have a Vision Pro sitting on my dresser collecting dust. Last time I used it during a business trip in my hotel room, I ended up falling asleep with it on on my face and looked like a raccoon for the majority of the day due to the impression it left on my face. I use it sparingly now. Macbook Pro + Studio display is my go to in most cases. And the price of apps? Come on Apple, give us a break. The app store for the Vision Pro is a wasteland..
I posted this in a comment regarding professional use, but I also thought I’d post it at the first level of comments: I’m an architect and have two primary uses for it which has been very successful. I am IMMENSELY happy with my professional use of it!
Do you use android or Apple phone? If android treat like one and side load useful content to it. Game on it, do watch media. You don't have to use it everyday.
Just bought mine barely used for $2000 in cash. At that price, I'm quite delighted with it. Original owner ate the big depreciation. At the $3500 retail plus tax? Not nearly as compelling.
@@user-cr6ki4qs4y Yeah that was my rationale. It's a toy more than a "ready for primetime product", so I felt $2000 was worth the fun. At $3800 after tax? Heck no. The movie watching is the big draw. Having an IMAX theater on your couch? Pretty crazy. The Mac virtual display is pretty neat too.
In terms of watching sports court-side, how accessible is that? Is every game available to watch court-side, can you watch it live? Is this format accessible all around the world?
Quest already has this, not every game but I've seen UFC and NBA live and there's tons more they do all the time plus concerts and stuff, it's pretty cool just need good internet
Okay, I’ve always scratched my head about the obsession around the kislux book totes and their practicality, but this one is adorable!! Congratulations
The underlying business model would be the easiest aspect to fix but I don't expect Apple ever will. As time goes on it becomes clearer that the "problems" with iPads are features not bugs. It's driven by business decisions to maximize app store profits. Let's enjoy our Macs while we have them..
in the 80's when i was 2-3 years old they put micro and nano computer robots in my brain that control my brains chemicals and function, they also put computer chips connected to my visual and sound cortex on my brain and they can put me in full VR and augmented reality, which they did a few times and at first I didn't know how it was happening until they told me, they also play movies in my brain when I'm sleeping that aren't my thoughts dreams. fun stuff!
I think they've achieved what they want - in 5 / 10 years it'll probably be consumer ready... which i think is what they're aiming for. The key is to build a backlog of content so when it's ready they're the go to ecosystem.
Always beware of the "Hype-Cycle". Apple is not the only company that does this, but they have perfected it, and are probably what inspired so much of that in other companies.
Of course. New product comes out. Shills praise it. Then a replacement comes out. Same shill knock the previous one they praised and praise the new one. Cars, phones, TVs, essentially everything that gest updated on a regular basis.
I got vision pro day 1 in Canada and have used it every single day since. There's nothing better on the market for media consumption, full stop. I also work inside the headset and find it quite intuitive, especially when looking at my macbook air and having the display show up in vision pro in a large screen, 4k version. If you sign up for the beta updates, they roll them out regularly and add lots of new gesture based functionality. I've worn my vision pro for hours without any fatigue at all, although I would say that the solo loop band is pointless. I would agree that we need more experiences and better apps. I've tried the spotify vision tunes app and it's laggy and unuseable. The Imax app was working but then suddenly stopped. In truth, after the disastrous homepods and airpod max experiences, this is one of the best I've had in many years with a new apple product. I'm 100 percent invested and shall remain so.
Thank you for the advise, I was trying to decide if I should that the plunge and this really helped. I'll wait for the next version to see what improvements are made.
Great overview. One thing I would note is that the shareplay functionality was mind blowing and I'd recommend trying it out. If you had coworkers, friends or family this thing it really is like sharing a physical space with them and I'd see a lot of value in. I think as adoption grows I would personally spend a ton of time on this at work or chilling with buddies or family. There's no better way to catch up virtually, IMO
I tried it once, and it took me a while to navigate with my eyes instead of hands as I am used to meta quest 3. I belive once they release another V, or drop the price to below $500 it will go mainstream. I think AR glasses (like the rayban ones) are more likely to take off in the XR realm than these big ass headsets.
I fully agree with the sports thing, I go to a lot of football (soccer) games in UK and the clip in the demo was the first time I ever felt like I was at the stadium. Absolutely impressive. The future is going to be fun as these headsets will get cheaper, lighter and even more impressive. I am a hard core VR guy that used Varjo, Quest 3 + Pro and Pimax Crystal. This is the first time I truly felt like seeing the future of VR headsets. I mainly use it for 3D and 4k movies and mostly content consumption. What could be improved - Although decent a bigger FOV would make it shine even more - On board battery is needed in the next one - Lower weight - Won't happen but gaming on Windows + direct connection to external GPU unless they make stunning games for it and they make the headset very powerful - Some form of a controller and other accessories like the Wii consoles - Make is cheaper as it's prohibitively priced - More independent devs need work on it to get extra content
I think I’ll stick to just my eventual plan to upgrade to the M4 iPad Pro. As someone who gets migraines easily, I think I’ll stick to a more traditional screen (I’ve already got the AirPods Pro 2).
As someone who has worn glasses since age 7, having to pay for a pair of lenses to correct my vision when I've already paid for my glasses makes this a no-go for me. I am getting Google Glass vibes from this review.
9:45 Looking at things I want isn’t fatiguing for me except when there’s an issue selecting finer points or details. That’s not so often and not something I quickly think of when considering the AVP interface. It’s fine. For me.
I went to a Vision Pro demo a few weeks ago. Honestly the dinosaur experience was the least impressive part for me. I wasn’t impressed by the quality of the graphics at all. What did stand out was the pass through and the sports video. I honestly believe if they start live broadcasting the NBA, F1 and a couple of football (soccer) leagues it would sell.
Hoping for option 3. I know they recently removed the remote controled boats next to the bumper cars in between Kumba and Jungala as well. Wonder what might go there. Also rumors of using the Pantopia theater for a dark ride with a marker behind it for a few years. Too bad they can't just relocate this next to Serengeti Flyer.
Very good and fair review. With the mod for overhead support, I am able to use my Vision Pro for hours easily. It's a shame it has to be done tho. As for your avatar, I dont know what the complaint is bc yours looks very much like you and comes across really well.
Apple must go full on immersive for the LA and Brisbane Olympic Games. In LA it will be novel, by Brisbane it will be heading for mainstream. Sony basically launched its television production division on the back of the Tokyo ‘64 Olympics.
I have the Meta Quest 3 and the headset made me realize that the tech is awesome and a cool experience, but for it to succeed, it needs consistency. This the one platform I think the streaming business model would make sense on. I think the biggest obstacles VR/AR needs to overcome is price:value you get and friction. I think a 2 hour battery is fine, I hardly wear my headset for more than an hour. If that battery were be sustained without use, that could decrease friction. Ease of use is another. Setup. And price. I want the price of the Quest but the lenses of the AVP. Or just the lenses to be honest, watching movies kinda hurts with this resolution.
I think applr just assumed since its apple devolopers will flock but they didnt so its a circle of not enough users to justify devolopment and not enough apps to justify buying it
I'm still using everyday my quest 2, so cheap and so good, specially for pcvr steam games, and now with the UEVR that turns 90% of all Unreal 4 & 5 old games into vr
The price is still crazy, you could get a Quest 3 for every member of a large family for the same price. It may be technically “better” than a Quest 3, but not 7x better. Lose the eye pass through thing for a start, and making it from metal and glass was dumb for something that has to sit on your face. I only have a $300 Quest2 and still don’t feel like it was really worth the money relative to the use I’ve got out of it.
3500?? Jeez. I purchased a oculus for 200 usd - feel like I got everything this video explained. I feel like any bugs or issues at 3500 is a dealbreaker for me. Good video - thanks very much.

Honestly the price alone just locked so many people out of this product.
I mean, Even Smartphone Folds seems a better deal.... 😅
Picked one up used for $2k, a fair price for what it does, imo. $3.5k is insane
@@rossfisher323 $2k much more reasonable. You find yourself using it a lot?
I'm on disability in legislated poverty at 11K a year. This will never be an option for me. Maybe at $100, it would be something to consider. that 55 times less than the current price in Canadian dollars.
@@rossfisher323 Personally, I would pay 1k max.
It's such a premium price for a casual use. It doesn't mix.
Exactly! I just bought M4 iPad Pro. Can’t justify this.
The sweet spot Apple is realized for most iPad users is 3 to $500
@@AlessandroPhotoss agreed. There's a massive market for this product. Plenty of rich Americans will gobble it up
@@weightelk ....but they didn't lol
Apple needs to release cheaper one Asap on or before June 2025 to encourage developers
That's something Sony should have done with PSVR2.

@@westmcgee9320 glare due to their optical stack design is not an opinion.
Someone needs to talk more about the professional uses. I’m a mechanical engineering student, and using mine to see assembled CAD projects and products before printing or submitting has been amazing.
Yeah actually being able to see it full scale in 3D before fabricating would probably make a big difference.
Hanging out with remote friends and family is another big win.
Yes, the Olympics, too bad, you would have seen that supper dude's bawlz in 4k detail.

You can get a Quest 3 and still watch a lot of content like this.
@@theoriginalanimekerquest 3 is just a nah in resolution, nausea due to lags etc
@@PSy84
wow, i own a quest 3 and there is no lag at all
I agree with Zuckerberg in that it's a worse product than the Quest 3 _even if it was at the Quest 3's price_ (when you factor in the walled garden, lack of content, etc.), which means even 1500$ is significantly too expensive for it.
Bottom line: Not enough use cases to justify its use case
The problem is the astronomical price, especially competing with the Meta Quest 2 and 3
Price Price Price…too expensive for regular people.
I love mine! They only reason that people is not buying is the price. The device is amazing, you do get used with the weight.
Yep and I also have the annapro thing to better distribute it. Amazing device.
What case do you use?
@@6MonthsLaterdon’t mind me. Just replying for the case name when they respond lol.
That's normal, at least for that headset
They should’ve focused on gaming to compete with meta quest
This thing being bought for 7k was always going to be a fail
It’s like having the ability to buy a roller coaster for your backyard……it’s gonna be fun af at first, and cool to show your friends and have them enjoy it, but are you really gonna be hopping on that thing daily 6months to a year later or is it gonna be boring after after a certain amount of time?
This is why novelty is never a good long term investment
It's a prosumer headset that certainly doesn't make that analogy fit for it; if you have limited use for a prosumer product, you're probably not the target audience, and that's OK. Not everyone can justify the Pro Display XDR, Mac Studio, iPad Pro, nor Mac Pro either.

$1500 is still ridiculous.
they should honestly keep going. it is the future, one way or another.
In what way is this the future? VR has existed for over a decade and it’s never graduated from only being a niche category in technology.
@@Bloooo95 Great points. Trust me tho, it will happen. We will find a way to tunnel that quantum any which way eventually.
Except.... if you've been paying attention to the last 60 or so years, you'd know that no. It's not. This has been tried over and over and over for decades by the biggest names of the times. Apple, Microsoft, Google, IBM, Sony, Samsung, etc. They have ALL flopped because nobody wants to wear something heavy on their face that does what a laptop or phone does, but worse.
You can resize the screen to whatever size you want while watching 3-D movies
You actually made this thing look pretty useful.

I then open my laptop into 4K mode on the VP virtual monitor and have my text, email, music and browser apps surrounding it… with enough open space to see the beach view beyond.
I am IMMENSELY happy with my professional use of it!
I am an architect, your comment peaked my interest. Could you potentially post content related to how you use it with clients?
I was watching this with my Meta Quest 3. Amazing... much better.
CNET just dropped a 6-month later episode too.
I bought the Quest 3, pretty good, I used it for like 2 weeks, bought a bunch of accessories, and haven't touched it since then lol
Do you use android or Apple phone? If android treat like one and side load useful content to it. Game on it, do watch media. You don't have to use it everyday.
I use my Vision Pro daily and haven’t touched my Quest 3 in months.
Just bought mine barely used for $2000 in cash. At that price, I'm quite delighted with it. Original owner ate the big depreciation.
At the $3500 retail plus tax? Not nearly as compelling.
This is the way.
I'd consider it for $2k, but $3.5k is very steep for such little support for apps. I mean not even RUclips?!
It’s a future application not current. It will require a crazy amount of bandwidth!
Currently there’s just the demo
There's absolutely no content. There's one sport trailer and a few Apple Immersive 15 min videos and that's it. That's the entire Vision Pro catalog.
Quest already has this, not every game but I've seen UFC and NBA live and there's tons more they do all the time plus concerts and stuff, it's pretty cool just need good internet
Did you have an issue with lens glare when watching a movie in a dark environment?
Everyone does, and the solution is to use a different environment.
I haven’t booted mine up in months. I will later tonight.
Two words:- Expensive, Novelty.
i guess apple finally found a price tag that even the apple cult cannot stomach..
in the 80's when i was 2-3 years old they put micro and nano computer robots in my brain that control my brains chemicals and function, they also put computer chips connected to my visual and sound cortex on my brain and they can put me in full VR and augmented reality, which they did a few times and at first I didn't know how it was happening until they told me, they also play movies in my brain when I'm sleeping that aren't my thoughts dreams. fun stuff!
I think they've achieved what they want - in 5 / 10 years it'll probably be consumer ready... which i think is what they're aiming for. The key is to build a backlog of content so when it's ready they're the go to ecosystem.
It’s named Pro for many reasons. I use mine every day for work and starting to do more music production. This is only the beginning!
Watching movies and TV streaming shows on Quest 3 is absolutely awesome. And it's only $499.
17:23 And it wouldn’t be portable.
Thank you for the advise, I was trying to decide if I should that the plunge and this really helped. I'll wait for the next version to see what improvements are made.
Quest 3 is the way to go. Better value for money, more contents, and can do pretty much Vision Pro can do
iPad and the Apple Watch had same “dud” designation on release. Wasn’t til gen 2/3 they became staple products
True, the iPad had a huge redemption and increase in popularity compared to its launch
That's hope talking. The home pod or whatever didn't become a staple product. Many others didn't either.
@@peerbr7849 wasn’t a new product category, if you follow xr at all you’d know that mixed reality is the future. We’re all just waiting
I believe the immersion video format is the next evolution of cinema experienc exceeding IMAX 3D.
@ 6:38. There are multiple smaller cases. I use mine almost daily and it's priceless. I can't take an 83" TV with me.
kay, I’ve always scratched my head about the obsession around the kislux book totes and their practicality, but this one is adorable!! Congratulations
Controllers and Quest 3 game ports would have sold me. The fact I can't add multiple Macbook monitors also killed this version for me at launch.
Apple is never releasing a headset for $500.
What could be improved
- Although decent a bigger FOV would make it shine even more
- On board battery is needed in the next one
- Lower weight
- Won't happen but gaming on Windows + direct connection to external GPU unless they make stunning games for it and they make the headset very powerful
- Some form of a controller and other accessories like the Wii consoles
- Make is cheaper as it's prohibitively priced
- More independent devs need work on it to get extra content
I think I’ll stick to just my eventual plan to upgrade to the M4 iPad Pro. As someone who gets migraines easily, I think I’ll stick to a more traditional screen (I’ve already got the AirPods Pro 2).
As someone who has worn glasses since age 7, having to pay for a pair of lenses to correct my vision when I've already paid for my glasses makes this a no-go for me. I am getting Google Glass vibes from this review.
"it gave my my first ever migraine!" LOL!
Price beside, i think the best way to describe its unpopularity is that is does so much yet not enough to justify regular use.
9:45 Looking at things I want isn’t fatiguing for me except when there’s an issue selecting finer points or details.
That’s not so often and not something I quickly think of when considering the AVP interface.
It’s fine. For me.
I’m buying mine soon. Looking forward to do work with it while laying back on my chair. Don’t need to look at my keyboard when typing.
Let’s see where do i start? 1. The Price 2. The battery life 3. Comfort Level 4. The actual use of the device.
Just let me watch my favorite sports live from the best seat in the stadium, and I'm all over it - even at the current price.
Because it was a sales pitch and everyone who bought one, fell for it.
For your use case I would highly recommend the Viture XR Pro glasses. For 1/6th of the price they are much lighter and a great way to enjoy content!
Imagine if it was more accessible the platforms you could develop on it, you could change social media and communication
I think a lot of the issue is a lack of programs written specifically for the device.
Just for immersive video it’s worth it, imagine live video for sports and events if that comes, not that I own one but demo’d it 😂
I think applr just assumed since its apple devolopers will flock but they didnt so its a circle of not enough users to justify devolopment and not enough apps to justify buying it
The problem is Apple always partition the purposes into different products. This have a m2 but doesn’t allow running macOS software.
Yikes. I tried it and liked it a lot. But it is more than I would pay by a factors for three, maybe four.
This feels like the Model T... basic, rough, and has some use cases. it's a first gen. I want it.
Price tag is too heavy for most people and it doesnt justify unless Apple has no plan of launching new version of Vision pro anywhere soon.
I'm still using everyday my quest 2, so cheap and so good, specially for pcvr steam games, and now with the UEVR that turns 90% of all Unreal 4 & 5 old games into vr
3:54 You said 3D movies give you motion sickness because the screen is so big. Can you not adjust the size of the virtual screens?
The price is still crazy, you could get a Quest 3 for every member of a large family for the same price. It may be technically “better” than a Quest 3, but not 7x better. Lose the eye pass through thing for a start, and making it from metal and glass was dumb for something that has to sit on your face. I only have a $300 Quest2 and still don’t feel like it was really worth the money relative to the use I’ve got out of it.
The difference between Quest 3 and Vision Pro experience is not 5 times as the price may suggest.
3500?? Jeez. I purchased a oculus for 200 usd - feel like I got everything this video explained. I feel like any bugs or issues at 3500 is a dealbreaker for me.
Good video - thanks very much.
