I just got mine the other day (though I had it shipped to home so I won't actually see it until Thanksgiving). Somehow I never noticed that it was released until a few days ago (I checked when I saw Entertainment Earth had it in stock; I had for some reason assumed when you first posted that you got it that Mattel sent it to you as a promo, maybe based on the box it was in). It's a good thing though because I wouldn't have been able to check it out until Thanksgiving no matter when I bought it and when I saw it in stock there was a $10 off coupon (which is still available at the time I'm posting this comment)!

I had 8 of them from amazon. Every single box was destoryed so you can forget about a collectable in good shape box. Honestly not the easiest thing to put together. Its an awesome item to open and play with.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts! My box was incredibly decent. I didn’t realize there were issues with the boxes being shipped. Interesting! And for me personally, I didn’t find it difficult to put together. The instructions are clear. It’s just time consuming more than anything I’d say! 😁
But yah, awesome playset no doubt!

This set is really awesome.
Although it's too expensive and I'm broke. But as long as I got my figures I'm good. Ofcourse I'm planning on getting the xL 01 ship next to complete my xl 01 buzz since I completed my xl 15 with the xl 15 buzz. Saw the ship on Walmart, need that last ship to complete the xl 01 buzz. And they do work for star wars, if you have star wars ships and characters the buzz lightyear ships fit in like a glove. The armadillo could be a stand in for a troop carrier if you wanted, but I don't have that one either. If there any characters I want in this assortment, it be commander Burnside and Alicia Hawthorne in her commander uniform. Or old buzz. With a new open up zurg suit. Like iron monger from 2008.

Hey Dan, nice review! I know that I’m late to the party, but how well would say that 6 inch, GI JOE Classified action figures would scale with this playset?
I was finally able to finish the whole video and noticed Buzz mentioned Xenomorphs lol. LIGHTYEAR/ALIENS crossover in the future? 😄 Ripley will be Buzz's partner in that movie lol.

Looks impressive but the only thing this isn't optimized for is kids play: there is hardly any room to play with figures, in narrative mode ( not enough floor space for figures to stand and 'walk' on, and the various action hotspots are cramped to say the least ). Makes for a nice display piece, though.
You place the cards over each other and they make different crystal pictures, that’s what the holes are for.
