@@SimHangerFS kinda surprising you could even match those settings with your older 10th gen intel cpu vs Steve’s 13th gen i913900k. In any case I’m glad you’re getting good results with your Crystal mate. It’s still on my radar and I’ll definitely be considering getting one once it’s Fully Functional with all promised features, and available from Amazon. Helpful Mark. My Crystal is finally in the mail. Took about a month to ship after the initial shipment notification. They needed to to do mold maintenance before they could get the orders out.

Question, did you tried the Pimax with the latest Fenix 214 version? Did it work for you? I was having some issues not being able to dial stuff in the AP or MCDU…
No I have used the PMDG 737, but not tried the Fenix yet. I have noticed FLOW can be a bit awkward sometimes though. There is also an intermittent issue with wireless mouse and Kb combos.
Excellent video ! I have done exactly as you and also I’ve tried DLSS-DLAA. I’m getting some shimmering effects with buildings that have lines close together such as corrugated steel hangers with TAA, but I agree that it does look better than DLAA and I’m getting a solid 45fps. DLAA doesn’t have this issue but I can’t get above 30fps. Running i9-14k, 64GB RAM, 4090 GPU. Also noted - I can’t seem to use my mouse when the single mirror window is selected - it’s not the active window. You’d have to have a separate monitor to use this.
can you tell a bit about Chromatic aberration people are experiencing? There are topics on reddit and discord, people see CA in the middle. Can you elaborate on that and tell us where do you exactly see CA looking at e.g. Garmin panel
This is a failure of a lens to focus all colors to the same point. Typically you will see a red line underneath black writing, especially noticeable on a white background. There is some Chromatic Aberration visible on the menus etc. but it is not awful, I’ve seen worse. It is more noticeable with local dimming off. I have noticed this on Mcdu/fms etc. I haven’t especially noticed anything on the Garmin units.
Since I don't own a PIMAX VR device, all this information is meaningless to me right now. Should I ever get one of these headsets in the future, it is nice to know that your video exists.

No you do not need OC..don’t use it for MSFS.

can you tell me why did you put Render Quality to Maximum and then downscaled it in OpenXR? What's the benefit, can we just not override and set Render Quality at Custom providing e.g. 0.80 or 0.85 value? The resolution should be similar in that case
Yes it would be, but the slider bar in the Pimax app does not seem to move in small enough increments to do this. It seems to move from max straight to balanced etc.

I have the light , 4090 and 14900k .
FPS no issue , running 90 hz 1/2 frame rate , 45 fps .
The only issue i keep having is a blurry image while moving / turning . It is driving me crazy

Hi Mark, how do we download the beta program like this? if it is only available to developers, do you know when the Beta version is going to be made available for normal issue? I also noticed that your headset has a higher version than what I have, yet when I press the 'HMD update' button it states that there are no updates available. Thanks for your excellent content, its just a bit frustrating when I'm unable to follow exactly your instructions at this time.
only 100 random people got BETA version. You need to wait for them to release. I think it will be in a couple of weeks starting from now.

I recently purchased the Pimax and I'm quite happy with the difference and improvement I got from the Reverb G2, I was trying to record a video with DCS
and flight simulator but I can't record full page like you do.
I use obs but then how do I get a single large window and not two?

If you fly VFR steam gauges planes on 4090 try resolution in OXRT 4700 x xxx and DLSS Quality in the sim. You might be surprised with the quality of the external view.
I thought that TAA 100 and 3500 x xxx is the best for VFR - until I tried the settings above.
Just wondering if by adjusting the 1st number for resolution to 4700 x xxxx changes the 2nd resolution numbers automatically?
And changing those numbers in the stean vr settings is reqimuired enmven though the PimaxXR Control Center is set to PimaxXR?

I've been itching to upgrade from my G2 to a Crystal but I've read about some production and QC issues which makes me hesitant.
great video, how did you get the full screen recording? If I use the mirror in xr it has two black bars on each side.

@@SimHangerFS I tried zooming in with OBS and the quialty is bad. steam vr would be the best route for recording but using it cost me 10fps. I need to gain frames not lose them. I can't set my monitor to 4k I don't have the head room. I have the 4090 and i9-13900k. If I set my headset to 90% in msfs I can get mid 30's fps but I do lose some sharpness

Hi Mark (and Steve) - great video . I have my FPS locked to 45 globally thru the Nvidia 3D settings.Does that have the same effect in your opinion as locking it thru Pimax XR app? - many thanks
Better to lock via Pimax app, then it will always apply and not get overridden.

Thanks for the video Mark. Do you recommend the Crystal or Aero for a PC with a i7-10700 CPU @ 2.90GHz, 32.0 GB, & 4080 for MSFS?
Which headset (between Crystal and Aero) requires more CPU or GPU resources in MSFS since I only have a 4080?
BTW: For my current Win 10 system, DX 12, & DLSS Quality or Balanced works best.
The Aero has a considerably lower pre-rendered image, thus less demanding, but marginally lower image quality.
I'm just stepping up from the G2 headset to the Crystal. I have it looking great, about 45 FPS with nearly all high and ultra settings, but one issue I'm having is when the aircraft are on or very near the runway, there is a lot of shimmer or jitter on the edges of the aircraft windows or wing struts. I had this ironed out with the Reverb G2, and it was like butter, but I cannot remember what setting I used to fix that issue... Any thoughts? I'm Running a RTX4090 and a 13900KF (Also I keep getting black screen crashes causing me to have to restart the PC. I can play for about 30 minutes at a time)
Check, you may have fixed foviated rendering on in OpenXR toolkit.
Regarding the black screen crashes… I’d be willing to bet you have HAGS on. Turn it off and let us know if the crashes go away!
Hi, tyanks again for your great videos. I am just wondering with my pimax crystal/4090/7900x cpu my vram is only 40% used at max doing the same settings you use here. I tried even some higher settings, it remained there. You know how to make it use more vram and make it smoother. It runs ok by the way but i thought it should use more of it. The gpu headroom is anywhere between 20% and 0 at 45fps locked. Thank you

@SimHangerFS thanks but i wonder why that would cause lower vram. The gpu does hit 100%
@SimHangerFS by the waybi changed my ram, it was CAS 40 corsair, and I went to CAS 30, and my fps jumped up 30%, i get 60fps now, but interestingly the vram is still the same only using 40%. So I ordered 7800x3d and gonna see what that will do hopefully i can get more of the vram
Hi My man, I installed 7800x3D last night, I got the same exact framerate. Also with your setting I get around 40% VRAM same as before, no more than 10GB. But when I go to native Resolution I get about 12GB of VRAM used and when I choose super Resolution like 120% it goes up higher to 14GB. This is flying in Manhattan New York. My fps is good, but I still wonder why my VRAM is not being used. My case is super cooled, my GPU and CPU temperatures stay around 60s. I even have switched most of the settings to Ultra with world LOD 200%. I get a solid fps. Anyways thank you, now I have to decide which CPU to keep 7900x or 7800x3d
I just got my Pimax Crystal and 1 thing that is confusing me some is, if its best to set the PimaxXR OpenXR Control Center to PimaxXR do we still adjust those resolution settings by going into the SteamVR settings?
No you don’t. Use OpenXR Toolkit.
Does this set up work with the crystal light?
Awesome Mark! Do you have X-Plane 12 by any chance? I have a Pimax Crystal, 7800x3D, RTX4090, 32GB DDR5 6000Mhz RAM and 2TB NVMe drive. Identical to your system! If you could do a similar tune up video as this one for X-Plane 12, I would be so in debt with you! 🙏🏼

Is anyone else's local dimming appears not to be working? Flying in a black night it appears like I'm looking through fog covered goggles with all the blooming.
Known issue, turn LD down and it goes away.
Hi all , I m a Pimax Crystal owner and i tried to apply the same settings shown here on my system( 5800X3D , RTX 4090 , 32 GB ram):
- in MSFS: AA TAA and Medium to High settings , TLOD 150, LOD 130.
- in OpenXR: resolution set to 3500*4142 ,turbo mode on, refresh rate locked to half(45) and i also activated DFR.
The issue is ,even if frame rate seems stable, i m experiencing terrible re-projection when moving my head around.
the issue goes away if i change from TAA to DLSS quality or if i keep decreasing the resolution with TAA.
I found a good balance using DLSS Quality and increasing the resolution higher than 3500*4142 but i m curious why following these settings i m not able to have decent performances?
Is there some other of you with similar configuration struggling to achieve good performance following these settings?

Hey Mark so I have followed this video to a T within the Pi Play, PimaxXR and msfs settings and wow I am getting such bad performance and Im not sure why. I also have a 4090 GPU accept I am running a I9 9900k witch I cant afford to upgrade yet, Maybe within a year or two. Other then the much lower CPU can this be the cause of my stuttering and really bad gosting? Could it be my nvidia control panel settings? I even went into my nvidia controll panel and reset everything both in Genral and MSFS and it didn't help at all. Please help. Nevermind, Im knocking on my head and working it out.
it may be, because 4090 only is flying with high end CPU like Ryzen 7800X3D. You have to tell us what is your render resolution and how many fps you get
@@grzegorztomasiak render resolution is at 3500 X 4142 in TAA mode and 42 fps locked but nevermind I am working it out.
Check smart soothing is off and turbo mode is on. This helped me push up the fps.

No, using the one that came with the headset. Not sure if third party products have hit the market yet.
