  • Well, the usual characters made an appearance today. I was also happy to see more elusive birds: the chickadee and the red-bellied woodpecker.
In the opening video, you'll see the Blue Jay opening its beak. Birds don't have sweat glands, so they cool themselves down by opening their beaks and panting. This allows the hot air to sweep over the wet mucous membranes of their mouths, which assists in cooling them down.
I have a bird bath about 15 feet away (beyond the fig tree), and there are several more on our property; today, I'll put one of my hanging birdbaths in the nearby fig tree, allowing them another water source. I hope to capture some of that bird behavior on video.
    Fruits added to the feeder
I added fruits and nuts to the video feeders and a few others. I use Royal Wing Fruit and Nut Mix Wild Bird Food, 40 lb. Hopefully, that will entice the birds that enjoy fruit to check out the feeders. Then again, they will likely continue snagging fruit from our property's berry bushes and mulberry trees.

******************************************************************************************************** *Quick update: Regarding the above fruit and seed addition. The birds love this blend! This is my first time purchasing how the birds have acted; they enjoy it, so I'll buy this combo and base it again.

While touring some of my gardens today, I was happy to see the elderberries and chokeberries appearing in the bushes. I'll watch them closely to pick them up and freeze them dry. The berries will be turned into elderberry and chokeberry syrup.

Thank you! :) I had some issues; I got stuck on processing at 99%, but I could resolve that. I had thought I'd reschedule this to post later; however, it's posted. No big deal, and I now know what to do in the future, so I consider this a win.

Great BirdCam footage! It's fascinating to watch the birds visit, especially with the dried fruit addition. Their eating habits and occasional bickering make it all the more entertaining. Thanks friend for capturing this slice of avian life! Big Like! New sub 🐦🍇

I agree they are fascinating. It's the small things. I work from home and usually have my iPad to watch, live stream, and see the birds at their bird feeders. My window has a beautiful view of the outdoors; trees surround us; however, I don't have a bird feeder.

Would you mind if I shared this video on my community? It’s really nice

Sure, you can share it on your community page. :) That is my longest-edited video thus far. I removed a lot of dead air. I still have much to learn about Final Cut Pro and have only dipped my toe in the shallow end; however, I am enjoying the experience.
