    I've had the disk lock for a while now, but the fidelity of the keys is such that it's actually pretty finnicky to unlock. And if you don't unlock it within 5 seconds, it blasts you with the alarm. It was giving me anxiety every time I wanted to go for a ride. AND THEN, it started to arm itself even though the lock was open. So i'd throw it under my seat and it would start screaming as I drove down the road. I ended up just gutting the alarm and now I just use the lock itself. The lock is great, but I can't endorse the alarm. Hearing it again in this video triggered my PTSD.

      @@luc1ferblack Have the 8077. It has two flaws: 1) There's holes easily accessible where the noise comes out. Spray some glue in there, or just put your fingers over the holes, and it makes a lot less noise. 2) The time from starting to lock it, to fully armed is too damn short. I've heard my alarm many times now, all because I was locking/unlocking my bike. If you don't have a very easy to hook onto brake disc, or have the optional additional chain, then you're most likely going to hear your alarm go off right near your head, quite often when you try to lock your bike. :(

    • @Toureebo
      @Toureebo 4 года назад +2

      When you put it under the seat it will arm itself if something, like a strap, rolls in its gap. Also, even disc locks need some maintenance... If the mirror part gets dirty from water stains, it needs to be cleaned, otherwise it arms. I find it very good, the last 4 years and I have witnessed it to save my bike and its accessories many times.

    The Sena GP10 audio pack works flawlessly with the Sena 10 C EVO helmet camera, allowing two synced audio tracks for simultaneous forward and backward-looking shots. Remember to update all Sena products firmware often, they are pretty good at fixing coding bugs and making improvements. I enjoy your videos very much, thanks for all your hard work!

      I faced the same dilemma, The street cats at my place tend to mess with your stuff all the time and 120db every night will get me angry neighbours who will trash my bike anyway.... A simple disc lock with a GPS device which gives me an alert if the bike is moved should be enough I guess..

      I’m hope that things have gotten better in the two years since this came out but since you have a cover that unlocks for changing the battery why wouldn’t there be an adjustment for sensitivity and the timer to unlock. Of course nowadays you could do that with an app. Seems somewhat archaic not to have such features

    Hi, correct me if i'm wrong but the anti-thief device seems quite useless, usually motorcycle theft load the motorcycle in a van and bring it to a garage to take it apart/look for devices like this one. Few steal motorcycles to have a night or two of "fun" to then abandon the bike. It will be best if the device could track the last position on a map on a smart phone or something.
    The lock looks good but i guess i could use it only without battery here in nyc :)
    Thanks for the vid.

  • @6Twisted

    I had to take the alarm out of my Xena14 because it was way too sensitive. Wind, loud noises, even shutting the door would set it off. The lock is also fiddly and sometimes it takes me a minute to be able to get it undone. And under my bike seat is now yellow as the yellow paint rubbed off.

    Hi, great clear to understand video, but can you confirm that the Sena audio pack for the GoPro camera will work with the Scala Q1 units? Thank you.

    • @FortNine
      @FortNine  8 лет назад +2

      Hey! The audio pack has Sena's new universal intercom software, meaning it *should* work with the Scala Q1 (I haven't personally used the two devices together). The only downside I foresee is that you'll only be able to record your own voice. As opposed to people who use the GP10 with a Sena comm, which lets them record the voices of other riders in their group as well. ~RyanF9

    I'm not happy with my Xena lock, either. I got the exact same one Ryan shows off. Mine goes off all the time, in the saddlebag, while I'm riding. I often pull to a red light or a fuel stop beeping at 120 db, looking like I stole the bike. The alarm part inside the lock gets easily displaced when not locked on the brake disc, rattles around and the light sensor arms it, which makes it go off on the next bump.

  • @TobiasRieperGER

    I had the Xena disc lock here for test and it does a permanent alarm when locking it. So it was unusable for me.

    Hey man, I really like what you are doing....Great MotoVlog
    I wanted to ask you about the sena audio system you have?is it worth buying it?
    Thanks Michael.

      It depends how much you care about audio quality. The SENA GP10 is a slick system and if you already have a comm mounted on your helmet, it's definitely the easiest way to record your voice during motovlogs. But if you *don't* have a comm system already mounted, it's just as easy to buy a lav mic and run it up into your helmet. You'll get better audio quality from that, as opposed to the SENA. Depending what you hook your lav mic to, you'll probably get a longer talk time from that option as well. ~RyanF9

    Hey Ryan , How about a video on a fuse block install video. Like Eastern Beaver or Denali powerhub2

    I would go for an Abus 8077 Alarmed disk lock, stronger and not prone to constant false alarms. Also the Xena locks can easily be broken with a screw driver and hammer.

    With the alarm does that mean wind can set it off if its outside?

      I'm riding a few different bikes this year, but most of my time is spent on the 2015 Suzuki V-Strom 1000 you can see behind me in these videos. It's the same bike we did the travel series on! (ruclips.net/p/PLQlYdWX-PfbnGSuJOCQiMOen-nuDe0LBl) ~RyanF9

    I could be wrong.
    That alarm could be too sensitive.
    I think it should only go off if someone tries to roll your bike away!

    I have the xena wheel blocker thingy, and 3 weeks after purchase I yanked the batteries out of it because it will give false alarms non stop, the neighbors where very happy is what I can say. It's a good bike blocker to have on you everywhere your would like to park, better than a chain but I use a bike alarm with a pager along with the xena and that never gives false alarms. I would like a gps alarm if I could find one here in Romania but for the moment a xena, a pager alarm, a bike cover and 2 chains should do.

    Spot Trace. 6500m above sea level ? If in fact it is "satellite" tracked, why not 10,000m ? Spot likely works ONLY from cell phone "satellite" towers and not in extreme remote areas. I have a friend (tech. wiz) who said it didn't work on a Canadian west coast cruise ship holiday, so he cancelled his subscription. Why didn't it work ? Probably, Spot doesn't have access to such things as SPACE "satellites." This needs to be checked more vigorously, especially if you're planning extreme remote runs.

    do you know if you can hook up the spot trace to battery to draw power from if the internal battery goes out

      Yep - SPOT sells a waterproof DC power cable separately (www.findmespot.com/shop/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=39) ~RyanF9

    FortNine...do you think you can do a review on the Sena 10C? I'm thinking about getting one.I'm not so much worried about the video b/c I'm just gonna use it for accident purposes.What I'm concerned about is the bluetooth feature.I wanna make sure that I can talk to other riders & make & receive phone calls.Thanks in advance brother,later.

    • @FortNine
      @FortNine  8 лет назад +1

      Yep - I'd really like to review that product. Might be a little while though ... in the meantime I can say that the Sena 10C *can* do all the things you mentioned. Once I review it, we'll see how well it actually performs those tasks! ~RyanF9

    Temp range for the GPS is 30-60c? 86F-140F? So if the temp goes below 86F the GPS does NOT work? So on a cool day it will not work? So if a thief takes my bike I can only catch him in the summer? I pay year round for service but I only works 6 months of the year? Ok....
    I live in south Louisiana in the winter if we do not have a cool front then it can be 80F at night.

    Quick question about the disc lock it automatically shuts off after 15 seconds if so that's really stupid you get a thief that doesn't care or is quick enough your bike could be gone before anyone tells you get your alarm is going off
