    This recipe is so interesting to me as an Indian! The same components of our everyday Dal, but cooked in a completely different way. Definitely going to try this. I might sub the rice with veggies to make a delicious salad! 🙂

    I just got done making this recipe. I didn’t have the spices used in the aromatics but used just basic curry powder from the store. That worked perfect! Wow, was there so much big flavor in this I thoroughly enjoyed it and can’t wait to get your cookbook.

    OMG!! this sounds like my PERFECT dish!! There's this one brand of indian spiced lentils that I love to get as as snack, but knowing how to prepare something similar to them at home is a GAME CHANGER!! I've not used whole spices before but this inspires me to try them...
    definitely going to preorder your book, thank you for inspiring 90% of my meals when I'm at university (I'm not officially vegan but I don't cook with meat and your tofu and chickpea recipes have been LIFESAVING)

    This looks so insanely inrecidlbe. Can't wait to make this. I truly hope my broiler doesn't set my fire alarm off again LOL but even if it does it is so worth it.
    I've had great lentil dishes but have been feeling a little unispired by them lately, this is such an amazing gem that I needed, so excited for it. The cookbook looks amazing too!

    As far as I know all grains and nuts should be previously soaked overnight. The recipe looks 💣🤤

    I really appreciate your expertise in cooking. Many plant-based wannabee chefs feel that adding onion, garlic, and paprika powder with S&P creates a recipe. I pre-ordered your cookbook and very much look forward to receiving it. I have watched you grow over the years, which is inspiring. I have one request to ask - why don't plant-baesd chefs use mung beans? I have yet to see mung bean recipes. The poor bean is getting left out for some reason?

      Haha, I'm not sure, Luella! They're not very commonly used by most home cooks here in the states, so it's a little bit of a risk for chefs to promote them (many people just want to cook with ingredients they already know).

    I don’t have some of the spices that you infuse the oil with. Instead of purchasing all of these separately right now is there a single spice blend that I might be able to use in place of that until I can order spices? I will look forward to getting your book before I make spices purchases and building out this new flavor pallet for myself. Hope you can suggest a spice blend that I may substitute for this time since I am new to Indian cooking. I have followed you forever and I’m actually really excited to get your cookbook. Thank you for sharing.

      I'm so happy you're excited about my book! While this won't deliver the exact same flavor or texture, I'd suggest using about 2 teaspoons of garam masala, which is an Indian spice blend that features coriander, cumin, cardamom cinnamon, and several other spices.

    Thanks for the video. I'll skip the pepper entirely. Chick peas work well, and really soak up the flavor as well. But I'm interested in using lentils in this way. Is that glass container from IKEA, that's where I keep my rice and other staples as well.
