If you don't see the new features, see this quick fix ruclips.net/video/t0vU4arjlJk/видео.htmlsi=UkNfbJ7cGMxbQCug
What a great time to be alive. In my 20+ year photography career, I (we) sure have seen a lot of changes. I keep thinking of all those years doing so much tedious edits that now are done in a snap. I’m loving it. It’s only gonna get better.
Being able to use a reference image! Now I can get closer to what I want without dozens of attempts. GREAT!
Its a very useful option
The biggest highlight for me is the integration of Firefly 3 into Photoshop. Based on my limited testing, the image renditions have markedly improved. It's phenomenal how far Adobe has gone with its Generative AI technology. Now, our only limitation in image editing and creation is our imagination. I can't wait to see where this goes.
Well said and spot on accurate. I feel EXACTLY the same way. I created a kick ass image today that I already know is going to be a best selling tee shirt image and I did it by ACCIDENT! Believe it or not! I was just playing around, input a crazy prompt using the new Firefly interface in Beta and lo and behold - voila the most amazing image for which I wrote a perfect accompanying humorous caption - appeared.
These new features are so incredible. Design time is almost cut in half......only thing about technology that I like 😃
LOVE THEM ALL! THANKS
Thank you for the new features Colin
Thanks for sharing!!! So cool !
Thank you, I always appreciate your clean, fast explanations.
Thank you for your information and guidance. 👍
Cool stuff! thanks for sharing!
A very quick release about the update. Thank you!!
happy to help
Thanks for the update Colin! The Font update is awesome!
Anytime
Thank you Colin it is a perfect introduction of new features again! Thank you for the good work in years! Photoshopcafe is a fine and steady channel to follow.
Very useful info, thank you.
Thanks, great Tutorial!
Thank you!
Love the font look up ability and I'll probably use the adjustment brush because it just seems easier!
What a huge development! Thank you so much Colin, as always very helpful, informative and straight to the point! God bless and good luck!
Thank You very much!
"Starting to look like Snuffleupagus" got me man 😂
lol, glad someone got it :)
Very useful - thank you :)
The font update! Thanks for the video!
Yeah, that's useful
Great new features well explained. I like the font update and the reference image most. Thanks for this video.
This is great! Thanks so much
You are REALLY good at explaining this stuff, Colin.
Thanks :)
Doing composite artwork for almost 3 decades (used Corel, though, until last year when I decided to switch to PS, choosing the fair-priced photography plan), and my main objective in using AI is to be able to add realistic add-ons and enhancements to my (mostly animal) works, e.g. missing paws or ears, wings on pets for rainbow bridge scenes, fairytale buildings and backgrounds for Xmas cards, etc. I played around with Generative Fill and dismissed it almost right away due to the poor quality and choices I got. Now it looks promising and I'll surely try it out. The font feature is also more than appreciated since Adobe allows commercial use (with some smaller restrictions), so you're safe.
It's getting better and will continue to do so
@@photoshopcafe Thank you for your reply, I hope so. TBH, I wasn't truly impressed until now by the dinosaur Adobe is in the industry. Great channel, btw. You're one of my top favorites when it comes to getting helpful hints on how to accomplish specific tasks in PS. Greetings from Italy.
Excellent video. Thank you
You're welcome
Colin, you are a star mate. Thank you so much for this detailed tutorial.
happy to help
wow and finally - definitely love the reference image!!!
glad you like it
The font and the high quality of the generative feature
Oh good I'm happy about the fonts! Thank you for the video
Me too
Some fantastic updates, thanks for the showcase Colin PS master!
Thanks, you are welcome
Very good Colin amazing
Thanks
Love reference image!
Thanks, Colin! You rock! 😎
Thanks Andrew
Photoshop Cafe one of the finest for learning Photoshop and Adobe .......
I find these changes invaluable and use them almost everyday. It is amazing what power to create they give us all. There is a gentleman here who was bemoaning the fact that as a landscape photographer he feels most of the updates are useless to his landscape imagery.
SO WHAT?
Adobe is responding to and, quite well - thank you very much - to the demands of the market place beyond what someone who shoots subjects that never move needs?
Keep it up Adobe because, we who do shoot and create beyond staid, unmoving things - LOVE what you are doing.
Love it
Font browse, for sure!
You always explain things easily and comprehensibly. Keep'em coming. Only thing I truly miss in PS is 3D!!!
me too
Not gonna lie, best tutorials on RUclips, hands down. Thank you Sir for all you do
Thanks so much for the kind comment
Thank you for posting... excellent as always! Can you advise how to use GF to replace a background area behind two people? Thanks.
I didi a tutorial on this somewhere, but basically select subject and copy to new layer, GF behind them
Been learning on and off for a while. I love Photoshop though it’s advancing too fast 😂 Thank you for this video.
lol, I'll keep dropping tuts to help you :)
Firefly 3 addition is nice indeed. Very helpful. I’m eagerly awaiting the text creation feature from directly within Photoshop though.
The font search is useful too.
Great video Colin, thank you.
cool
Hi Colin, my favorite is firefly in photoshop beta. Hope it will be there in one of the next updates of the regular version.
Its handy
Thank you , this will be fun to try. I do really love Photoshop Beta but will move back and try regular Photoshop, so glad you do these updates! I use midjourney all the time and photoshop to finish images, but this new update is a game changer. I do wish Adobe would have a good up-scale option like the Topaz Gigapixel. I Have loved photoshop since the first CD in 2003..lol What an amazing program!
I love PS too :)
@@photoshopcafe Yes, I can see you do..:)
Great video Colin thanks for showing us all these new toys! Adobe are really making great strides on PS, and now the resolution on on the Generative tool can get enhanced resolution its more useable. I dont understand why Adobe dont make this just `baked in` though, because whats the point of 1024 x 1024.? Can I ask you a question Colin? With regard to Fonts. I use LRC and PS on a desktop and laptop. If I now download new fonts, do I have to download the chosen font to both desktop and laptop separately, or as I`m signed into my Adobe account on both machines, does a download on one get picked up on the other. Or can I download new fonts on my desktop and set up Presets etc there as well, and then transfer all of these `new set ups/tools etc to my other machine, by going into a folder where these things are stored, copying that folder, then taking that folder to my other machine and pasting there? If thats the case can you tell me the folder that I`m looking for Colin and its path? Cheers Colin.
I still haven't found the big upgrade level, adding reference images is my favorite feature in this update
Funny to see that after some years Adobe brings back an option to use a reference photo.
I remember they have that on Content-Aware Fill
This time it's quite different. The Reference CAF only copied pixels from the source. I made a vid on that a year ago ruclips.net/video/J60YZTdAUsw/видео.htmlsi=UlgWPOtpxBka8B2N
COOL Kyiv Lipki 😁😁😁😁
Great overview and thank you for your content, I am a big fan. I wish Adobe would use AI to make selecting hair better, I need one-step hair mask as current background removal is bad and it is not only struggling with hair and fur but also with any close matching colours, so where is the AI for that?! 3D tools and textures for fonts would be nice too (the ones in Firefly are soo bad) or better brush settings and more brushes for painting, not AI image creator, no artist asked for that. Adobe added reference image to AI creator but when I actually want to paint from reference photo the option is not there (Procreate has this but Photoshop doesn't). Same with time-lapse capture of my painting process.
Photoshop can open multiple documents at once, something procreate can't do. Open your reference image in a separate doc and choose window>Tile, now you have the same functionality :)
Thanks as always. I think professionals are the ones most complaining and I sort of understand that since time is money for them and they don’t want half baked new features. Of course it’s a choice to use such features in the Beta so I don’t get why they don’t just turn off the beta if they are worried. For my amateur I use generative fill to fix small flaws such as getting rid of distracting people or backgrounds and junk in my travel photos all the time. And I regularly use the neural features for fixing family photos. I’m very happy to access Beta features knowing that they have flaws or occasionally crash. Photoshop for me has become much more useful and usable.
I think it's subjective. Most of the professionals I know see this as a helpful tool, not a threat (myself included). Not everyone feels that way and I respect peoples feelings either way.
Hey Colin, I want to create an image using Firefly, MidJourney or the like, to showcase a product I have, which is a golf cart battery charger, and incorporate it into another image, or create another image that has a golf cart and a person observing the charger charging the golf cart, for example in a garage or on someones drive etc. What would you suggest is the best way to do this?
Although lots of people doesn't like the Adjustments Brush, I think is a cool addition. Ok most people say, there is no neeed for that.
Well,just don't use it
Good attitude
Using Adobe Beta is not straightforward for PC users, and switching between them is a bit of a challenge. I've chatted with Adobe tech about this, and the answer is, "Well yeah, we know, but..." Other than that, I am delighted to see Firefly 3 in Photoshop!
Get a Mac. J/k ;)
I like being able to use a referenced image. I'm much more likely to get what I want as opposed to what the program thinks I want. And I won't lie, I'm a font junky, so that new feature is pretty sweet too.
Oh yeah, font collecting is fun :)
I am sure all the graphic design professionals are now worried ! It's amazing we have come to this level of perfection in just a few years.
Some are, some aren't. Personally, it's another tool. It replaces Content aware fill and (some) stock photos for me.
As usual you always do a great job and the way you are doing it make it interesting to watch-listen...
I understand that you're not here to talk about all the bugs. But sadly, Adobe Photoshop have more and more bugs and in the mean time Adobe focus on implementing new things, that a lot of us don't really need, but we do need a more stable software.
But since a long time Adobe build on a fondation that have so many cracks.... and no matters the paint color you put over it, the foundation just collapse a bit more each time they had new features....
I hope you are reporting them to Adobe.
@@photoshopcafeI do, also so many MAC or Windows users to report all the bugs to Adobe Community.... and it's getting worse
Good stuff Colin. Firefly 3 is a welcome update, but I thought the resolution limit had increased to 2048 X 2048. Is that not the case when used inside Photoshop? There's another new feature, and that's more control over arrowheads with the Line tool. Unless I'm going mad, I am sure that arrowheads used to scale with line size, but that stopped happening a while back. Well, we can now adjust width and length in the Properties panel, which is super nice.
Generation from scratch is 2k, Gen fill is 1k.
Is the AH feature in the "public" beta?
Are you able to use a background generated image and remove the person from that image and use just the background.
If I use my own image and firefly, does my image go into the firefly archive, to be used by some else in the future?
Thank you for all your great videos. Help please, I have just downloaded the latest update for PS Beta but "Generative Fill" which I use a lot now doesn't work when trying to add "Oil Painting" . which was fantastic for me... Any ides to correct this? Thank you
I haven’t tried that yet on this version. What steps are you doing?
@@photoshopcafe Simply entering 'OIL Paint" in Generative Fill then a amazing effect used to happen, However now doing the same just comes up with a boring blue page with a few white lines stokes.. Thank you
Could you use it to add your reference image and have it put that in a picture frame in a room you describe?
You can try
Is there a detail slider for the generated image like in FF web version ?
Thanks
nope
The updated ai engine is a game changer for me. I have been dissappointed with the lack of photo realistic output and have been using 3rd party geberative ai. That is not a very efficient work fluw. Looking forward to trying this out
Hello is it possible to generate an object, say the pancakes but without the background so you’re able to transform it without effecting the background
no, it fills the shape of your selection
I tried to the transparency selection to do the GF but is not working like in the past.
Really impressed with the new adjustment brush tool from the latest Photoshop beta update! 🌟 Does anyone know if you can save preset brushes with different blend modes, like Overlay, Screen, or Color? Also, about the new high-resolution fix for Gen AI - what’s the exact resolution pixel size we’re looking at? I’ve heard someone mention it offers significantly higher resolution just by toggling that option. Would love more clarity on this! Thanks in advance!
Its the same as Super resolution, so its 4x
Wanted to try new beta but for some reason it is crashing at startup...still trying to troubleshoot.
If on Mac, reinstall. On windows.. I don't know.
Colin, After some troubleshooting...Something to be aware of that impacted my being able to run this new beta version. After upgrading my previous beta version to 25.9.0 I discovered it would not initialize, would error out and then sends a crash report to Adobe. After trying numerous work arounds I finally used the Shift Click method of starting Photoshop and found that it would start normally but as you may know this means none of the Plug-ins work like Topaz. Since the Topaz products are integral to my workflow I am unable to use 25.9.0 until this is resolved. Have you had this problem? I have also seen reports of others having the same problem with plug-ins other than Topaz so I am thinking this is a problem with all plug-in and not just Topaz.
Thanks for the vid. The adjustment brush tool and the font browser are nice. Generative fill is crap and I wouldn`t use that for my photos. It looks so artificial
Depends how you use it, I don't generate elephants in my production work, but GF saves so much time for little things that used to be time consuming
This is just another excuse for Adobe to jack up the price of Creative Cloud regardless of whether you use the new tools. There should be two tiers. Tier 1: All of the tools that have been in Photoshop since 2004 and are the tools you use 99% of the time. Tier 2: An additional $29.99/mo. for all of the whiz bang AI garbage most of us don’t want or need.
Sadly I agree, no interest at all in the AI stuff. They keep releasing tools I don't want to use
the image reference will change the game for many people
It can not be long before we are able to convert a raw file based on a reference image in AI. Looking forward to the day!
that would be interesting
the upscale button is not available just update to the latest version…or must the original photo in good resolution>?
The image has to be larger than 1024 to have this option
My favorite new feature is that you can now eat pancakes at a bar terrace in Paris. Quite new indeed :)
I don't see that option on my toolbar ;)
Do anyone know how to close class font on the left side at character it’s really annoying
The beta versions seems to break the opacity trick. Are you experiencing that on your end? Regardless of how I lower transparency, the new gen fill creates a wholly new image based on the prompt.
I haven't tried that yet, but I did notice density wasn't working
If anyone doesn't see the icon on the toolbar, try changing your Workspace. That's how I managed to view it.
I changed my workspace to every choice there is and I still don't see it?
I made a 1 min vid to help: ruclips.net/video/t0vU4arjlJk/видео.htmlsi=hN50FHw9wcpI0xsp
@@photoshopcafe Thanks, Colin.
I like the "Generate Similar" option. I don't use the Ps betas, but would like that feature in the commercial release. (As long as Adobe doesn't break something else that I use when adding new stuff..as is wont to happen).
I'm sure it will move into mainline when its stable and tested.
@@photoshopcafe BTW, completely off topic! But, I'm still getting great use from a variety of Design Cuts prods. You 1st intro'd me to their Sky Builder pack years ago in one of your vids. I've added to my collection from them (including overlays, fonts, etc.) to use in composites. So thx, again, for mentioning the tools DC offers.
@@FotomakerAcademy I'm glad you are getting good use out of them. They have good quality add-ons
I keep looking but never see, maybe will never see, the ability to use my own images, both for main image and also for generate from... Is that too far fetched to hope for?
Neat. Is there still no simple way to change the colour or texture of an object with the generative fill? Let's say you ONLY want to change the colour of a person's skin or eyes, i.e. without changing anything else. So far, the generative tool mostly feels like a big, unwieldy sledgehammer.
Hue/saturation
I was playing with, as I don't really need them, the new features in Beta. Unfortunately, Lightroom always defaults to the latest version of Photoshop, meaning the Beta, when you edit. As Beta has beena bit "flaky" in the past, I do not want it to be my default editor. I wish Lightroom would default to the latest, not Beta, version. Does anyone know how to make this happen please?
I uninstalled beta because of this.😢
You can set the Lightroom preferences to default to the standard photoshop not the Beta
A workaround is to open the regular photoshop first. Then go to Lightroom and choose “edit in…” and the image will open in the photoshop version that you opened
as KK said
Depressingly all in the beta, would love to see things like the parametric filters actually moved to the release version. They are not going to win any fans if they keep releasing all this material in the beta, many users don't want to use the beta in the first place or just use for a little testing. Great video as ever
see my pinned comment
If you run out of generative credits how slow it gets exactly to use this AI tools? Has someone already made some tests and showed them in video here on RUclips? If so I would be very grateful if you guys can link that to me
I haven't run out, so I don't know. If I do, Ill make a video
@@photoshopcafe It seems nobody knows, I get the same snswer😏 Not talking about you but a lot of people complaining about Adobe sucking money out of these Ai tools or about how they charge every usage of them even when they are a miss or hit thing but nobody has dealt with this question: how bad it gets when you run out of credits? Photography plan has like 100 credits? That's more than nothing. Not everybody has the entire suite plan
@@Kranos_CG I don't know anyone that knows what to expect yet, let us know if you find out!
but now i can't have the generative fill interact with MY IMAGE by going the quick mask, filling with a percent of gray, leaving quick, put in my prompt and watch the generative fill INTERACT with MY IMAGE. I SHURE HOPE ADOBE DOES NOT TAKE AWAY THIS FEATURE as they have with the Beta version
It looks like density is broken right now
its not allowing me to get to the beta, is there another way to get to the app?
I just know the way I showed you. If you don’t have a paid CC subscription you probably can’t get it
5721x3800px @300dpi may be at the upper threshold for FF sub par quality?
It's nowhere near that. BTW, if you give dimensions in px, resolution is unnecessary as its only metadata, it will be 5.7kx3.8k no matter what. Also DPI is only a measurement of print as screens use pixels, not dots.
@@photoshopcafe my critique for this latest update is that Adobe is still playing catch-up in terms of image quality texture, etc
@@raybjr You aren't wrong and I don't dispute that. I was only correcting the common misuse of the word DPI (I hear it daily, even from Adobe staff), nothing more
@@photoshopcafe funny question, do you stop and correct Adobe staff daily for misuse of graphics terminology? c'mon
I have ver. 25.8.0 and no generate image, only import image, why?:)
refresh CC and get the latest, also reset workspace

Mine isnt showing generate images (from scratch) or gen background. Its fully updated
see my tutorial in pinned comment that fixes it.
I’ve suddenly got all these updates which I don’t know how to use. When I go to do my usual edits in PS I get functions which don’t work the way they used to, especially when creating composites. Just where do I start to learn how to use these tool’s please
I have tutorials on all the tools on this channel
@@photoshopcafe sounds like I need to sit down and do some study. Many thanks 🤩
I have version m.2581 on Windows but the Firefly option is not there. I do have the new Fonts browser, but when I create a new document I can only click "Import" and the extra icon on the toolbar is also not there. I'm logged in to my Adobe Account but that doesn't change a thing. Anybody has any idea?
My Photoshop Beta just updated to 25.9 and now I have the new generative features. Yea!
1 refresh CC to make sure you have the latest version.
2 reset your workspace

I am running Sonoma 14.4.1 and the "Generate image" palette does not appear with my my newly updates PS Beta 25.8. Adobe couldn't help
I just installed a new PS Beta 25.9 and the 'generate image' is now there.
Make sure you refresh Creative Cloud for the latest build
@@photoshopcafe Thank you! Congrats. on your great Cafe. I have been using PS since 1994 and your tutorials are the clearest, most. sensible I have ever heard
Whatever happened to the days if you dont like it you move on. Instead everyone rushes to the comments to tell everyone their right and everyone else is wrong. I'm a Real Estate photographer and all the addions that Photoshop have added are great. Some I don't use and others I use a lot. In the end these are all tools. Having a big selection of tools in my toolbox is always better.
When I start a new file I just have the import an image on the contextual and not the generate an image. What am I doing wrong?

I think you missed the Cloud price increase...
I don't need to make tutorials on pricing ;)
Thanks for your video. From what I see in your exemples, the quality of the results is very poor ! Is it the maximum it can do ?
I feel like the adjustment brush should have been in the 2001 release
