Thanks for the updated tutorial, and the free stuff the problem I have is that having downloaded the actions pack I can't see an action for Ai image generation, the 5 I have are :-Frequency Separation, Pencil Sketch, Dodge and Burn, High-pass Sharpening and Slide Sandwich . Am I looking in the right place in the vault?
Thank you for taking the time to show us this technique which I was more or less familiar with from a prior video by PixImperfect and Dave Kelly but this looks like it will be somewhat easier to implement. I expect that eventually Adobe will get to the point where they are offering us the option to generate full resolution images that are generated after we experiment with a lower resolution and decide what we want. I for one would be willing to pay a reasonable amount for such a service once I decided on what I wanted.
excellent tutorial as always! - One question though. I have the most current versions of Photoshop and Photoshop beta, however, when I right click in Camera Raw, I can not see those extra commands such as "Enhance" or "set rating" "set label"- it only shows the the first few lines. Am I doing something wrong?
Amazing. Prayers answered! I downloaded the Beta version last night - does this show current photoshop image expansion or will I need the Beta version? Thank you 🙏🏼
Colin, I love your website. You always are able to keep me abreast of what’s new and happening in the photo market. Thank you. Could you please do me a favor and do a video and using your action that you just put out on generative Phil? I’m a little confused on how to use the different sections of that action and it would really help if I could see you doing it step-by-step. Thanks in advance.
Thankyou Colin for this great video and showing us how to fix this issue of low resolution with Generative Fill or Expand, and especially a big thank you for giving all of us a free action to be able to get far far bbetter results. Youre the man!
Great. If I'm not mistaken you show this almost one year ago, by this I'm referring to the 1024x1024 Px squares. And a Big thank you for the action, I was gonna create one to share with my students
Great video. 00:00 🖼 Generative AI in Photoshop is powerful but struggles with resolution. 00:23 🔧 Use the Crop tool and Generative Expand to extend images, but the resolution may drop. 00:52 🔍 Zooming in reveals the loss of resolution in generated areas. 01:16 🆕 New feature in Photoshop beta enhances image details, improving resolution but not perfectly. 01:43 🐱 Demonstration with a cat image shows resolution enhancement using Adobe Bridge and Camera Raw. 02:34 📈 Super Resolution doubles the image size, similar to other upscaling software. 03:29 💡 Generative fill generates up to 1024x1024 pixels, requiring enlargement for larger spaces. 04:22 🔲 Convert to a layer and use the rectangular marquee tool for better transparent expansion. 05:18 🧩 Generate in pieces to achieve full resolution, suitable for printing. 06:14 🛠 Create an action to automate the process for consistent high-resolution results.
Thanks for the Video Colin, really appreciate it. However for some reason I didn't receive the e-mail to get the Action. I've checked spam and junk folders etc. but can't find it anywhere.
Nice! As i understand it based on what creative cloud package you have, Adobe allows you only a certain amount of generating of images before it takes longer to use the feature, is there a place to see how many generatings I have left?
Click on your account icon on the top-right of adobe's website while you're logged in and you'll see the remaining monthly credits in the popup that opens right under your name. This on a desktop.

generative fill is amazing. running after kids at parties i get some hands or feet out of framing. with generative expand 95% of the time i get the perfect picture. parents are happy with the pictures. surely now that i have seen this video they will be even better.
Nice tools, but good to know it still takes human ingenuity to make it useable. Obviously would like to have the photo be of what's needed, but depending on the final use/usability, the possibility to generate pseudo reality is still nice to have.
its boosted but it isn't fixed. Currently, a coworker and I have been tasked to making comparison (before & after) images for a presentation. The AI tool is powerful but its getting there.
Very informative and quite clever. I would say however that in certain circumstances your eye would expect certain areas to be blurry. If you make the entire image pin sharp then it can draw the eye away from the primary subject. For example in the image of the cyclist I actually preferred the blurry foreground. When you say Adobe generates a maximum 1024x1024px do you get better results if you go for a smaller size e.g. 600x600px ? I have a busy month ahead, so can't try it myself, but it would be interesting to know; and if it's in an action it's not going to be that much extra work. Finally giving you my email address so I can access something that is supposed to be 'free' seems a bit contradictory. I'm quite good at writing scripts so I'll make my own. I've never actually written one involving the AI functions so it'll be a challenge. I'll let you know how I get on. Thanks for the video.
There's a Photoshop Plugin that does this feature automatically on the free version, you tell it how much you want to expand the image and in which directions and it fills it in with 1024x1024 blocks. I'll leave off the name for now as it's from another YT Photoshop channel and don't want to step on your toes, but if you're happy with it I can share the name of the plugin as it's a great time saver.

So just because Adobe is stingy when it comes to resolution AND processor power of their AI tasks we have to spend more credits to enhance a generated image, yet even that is so bad that we rather spend 10 times the amount of credits to expand an image in little steps... Great.
He does a nice job on is channel but, most of the things he shows are already made. One example, seamless background with shadow was made before him with an action sold on internet.
99 percent of my genfills are 'too small' to upscale with this sadly, even though the blur from it is still painfully obvious. we need this clarity on small parts too. or just give us clarity the first time lmao
Thank you, but even with this fix, Adobe generative fills is still very bad, at least for photographers or creative artists that works with people photos. Probably it's even worse than before, because of its heavy and bigoted censoring. Cannot work with people because cannot use a lot of common terms, like "lips", "belly", "bikini", "fingers" and so on, and even using "safe" terms, two thirds of the times the program says that something went wrong with results and don't display them. It seems that Photoshop would like to control its AI engine results, but it really can't, so it ends up censoring everything...
It runs on the cloud [someone else's computer] therefore totally useless. Software as a service is a big no-no. I own my digital data and am not about to transmit it to someone else's computer.

Enhance does NOT cost any generative credits
Enhance isn’t another generative creation, so it’s free. It’s basically upscaling and texture adding only.
The step trick you showed it uses credits though
