Getting ready to do the timing belt on a 2.8 Audi A6

  • I've seen a couple videos on RUclips on changing the timing belt I'm different V6 is from Audi. After I got the front cover off I'm looking for timing marks on the bottom crank gear and the two top cam gears. I don't see any marks so I'll probably have to invest in a timing tool.

    Theres a pointer on your plasic cover piece and a fine alignment mark on the harmonic pulley.

    Timing mark on crank pulley and you have to remove valve cover to see timing mark for cams or use cam alignment tool

      I won't use anything but the alignment tool 👍

      @@JohnHartphotography Not everyone may have the alignment tool so you have to use the marks. Another way to hold the cams in place once the marks are set is hose clamping two ratchets or breaker bars together with 16mm sockets on the cam bolts.

    can't see em if u took them off already, tube vids aren't always correct but sure u got it by now and know it sucks. Did my 2001 a8 much easier than the 99 a6 I'm doing now
