1:45 the chromed bottom of Air Force One makes the area that's covered in it seem almost invisible. Great engineering there.

Ive had the honor of seeing Air Force One land and take off 3 different times. I have to it is an amazing thing to watch. And our military does one hell of a job, they should be thanked and given more recognition for what they do.

The nose wheel steering system can turn about 60 degrees ish either direction and adjusts for actual ground speed (so you don't tip the jet or something) What drew is saying is to allow for the tighter turn using the jet engines power as a kind of boost in that regard. allowing a push/pull effect thus allowing a tighter turn

These VH-3Ds may seem loud to those on the outside but I flew them and their VH-60N Black Hawk baby brothers and they are much quieter than the UH-1s...and the White House doesn’t need to worry about noise on the outside !

+William Moser C-5A flies ahead with presidential helicopters, (3). And "The beast" and other airplanes with other vehicles.

+Steve Giovanis So the C5A can handle only the helos and "The Beast" (what is that?) is required for SUV's and whatever other vehicles(?!) Whoa. AF1 is $206K/hr. What's the hourly cost of these other two?

    • @stavrophotography

"The beast" is the new presidential limo.Correct William, at least one aircraft, probably more. Goes in advance with all the support helicopters and vehicles.

+Mike Roberts -- In case he had to scramble, he could depart from Pittsburg to wherever he needed to go. The VC-25s have the full communications suite, office space, medical equipment, galley, seating for the staff and press, etc. that the VH-3Ds and VH-60s lack.

Rule#1. You stop for a salute. Otherwise it's just waving your hands.

Very very nice..I respect the Air Force One Presidential Fleet of Aircraft no matter who is the President. This time it is President Obama. I loved it when President Bush JR flew the Air Force Two sometimes that was also very very nice..

    • @werksdesign

+Marcus LeeP .... Air Force planes the president is on has the call sign Air Force One. Some planes other than the 747 may be used but the call sign will always be Air Force One regardless of the type of aircraft.. An Army plane will have call sign Army One. And so it goes with whatever branch of service is providing the aircraft.

Why was there an osprey following? And I believe those Sea Kings were about to take off as well but I thought they were to be loaded onto C-5 galaxy as its the plane that transport the President's helicopters and motorcade.

Well, in all my years at the guard base, never once was AF1 present, Why, because the guard is a State operation, where as the 911th AF Reserve is federal. Of which this is where this occurred. Also, did the President not return that salute?
