Thanks for this video. My car has the same problem, the passanger side wiper not working, but the other wiper does work. This video came in handy and explains the problem thoroughly.
Thank you for stopping by.

I agree
@@jimthecarguy Oi, got me girl an '05 a couple years back. This winter had this problem. Thank you much on your time and patience for the help bròtha.
I know cars but no experience with Hyundai
Thank you! I now understand why my wipers keep needing repair. Heavy snow and ice in Canada constantly stripping the splines if the windshield is not clean to the glass.
Seems pretty easy to avoid damage and a quick fix on a tight budget. Also keeps me from being taken to the cleaners now that I can research parts and labour.
Jim, thank you so much! I was on my way from Charleston, WV to Columbus, OH and my drivers side wiper just pooped out on me lol. It was pouring and very foggy. This was the first video i saw, and (thanks to my dad) i had a socket set in my trunk. I fixed it! I had pulled over on rt 35, which is a scary 2-lane road with only farm animals and truckers for MILES.. something bad could've happened if they saw a 25 yr old on the side of the road by herself. You saved my ass! Thank you thank you thank you 😚💜
Unfortunately it’s very Rarely that I see a mechanic giving great advice and saving people money, but you covered all the bases on this one and even did so in a way that most people with minimal mechanical ability could do the job their self and get back on the road with 2 wipers working again. Only small detail that I do different is I use jb weld in the tube that you knead together instead of lock tight, but regardless of that detail You got 5 gold⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ in my opinion brother. Please keep up the good work and info helping people. By the way not that it Matters but I’m a ASE Certified Master Mechanic that has owned a shop in Indiana for 24 yr’s and I’m glad to see that other Mechanics give customers cheaper band-aid options when it’s safe and they don’t have the money to dish out. God bless and please keep up the good work. You earned a subscriber today
The most simple part of the video was all I needed. Tighten it well! Thx for this bud!
Your welcome bud!
Passenger side wiper stopped working after a snow storm, on my 2015 sentra. Did a quick youtube search and found this old video. Tightened up the nut and worked like a charm. THANKS!!!!
Thank you so much! I was able to fix this for nothing, as it was a loose nut instead of costing me 100 dollars just for them to do it. You will never no how much this encouraged me today.
Thank you for making this video! I was worried the splines on my Pacifica were worn, but all it needed was a re-tighten! You are a saint!!
Thank-you for uploading this on RUclips! I got my windshield wipers to work! I was so excited!
I appreciate the fact that you put this video up. This is the first video of yours that I have now seen and it showed me that you presented a sincere, step-by-step, how-to video that is now going to be a great source of help as I go out to my car to fix the same problem.

Thank you for watching and for subscribing
Thank you, this fixed the car perfectly and saved me time and money. I really appreciate you putting this out there.
Hi Jim, As always a great video. Thanks for sharing my friend. I hope you have a blessed week.
Thank you for this video! The snow killed my 1 wiper too. Thanks to this video I had it fixed in a few seconds.
Did you just tighten it
Great video as always Jim ! Hopefully she lives somewhere in the south. Where I am, if you don't have winter wipers, ice will 'glue' your wiper blades to the windshield and if you don't manually lift them up before turning them on, you risk ripping the rubber off. In this case, if the wiper blades are frozen to the glass, the Loctite would probably not provide enough friction adhesion and the wiper will fail again. As you said Jim, this buys her some time and as a temporary fix it is great! Keep'em coming. Take care.
i have no issue on my car but luv watching your vid. thnx jim !!
My problem is a Dodge Caravan. They both work, but the passenger side rams into the other wiper. I imagine this is the same problem, so thank you for this knowledge and I now have an idea what I am getting into!
Thank you for this video! Both for the quickfix and for what parts need to be replaced for longterm. Greatly appreciate it with a snow storm coming!
Remember it is only a temporary fix you will need to repair it properly. Don't forget Live stream on Sunday at 7:00 PM
Aw
You are a life saver! I kept getting people telling me to pay someone to fix my wiper for $$$ when you made driving to work in winter soooooo much easier on my wallet! I did this to my wiper in less than 5 minutes- honestly! Thank you thank you!
Thank You so much for this video it’s given us some direction. Looks like what is going on with our car.Keep up the good work.
I realize this is an older video but this was very helpful to me, just wanted to say a thank you to the resident car guy for his great explanation!
Thank you for watching . Don't forget to subscribe.
this video saved my freaken life... hit a bad rain and glad I had tools to fix with... thank you!
My 2001 Lexus RX 300 just started doing this so now I have a direction to look at. Thanks for the video
That was good to give her some time. Now she can save her pennies for the new part. Your doing good Jim!
Jim's voice sounds exactly like a car mechanic
Wow, I never expected this to actually be the issue with my car, but sure enough, when I took a look at it, the nut was finger loose, almost falling off if it weren’t for the plastic cap. I tightened her up just to test, and just like that, it works again. I applied some threadlock red and we’ll see how she holds up.
THANK YOU!!!!
Thank you for the video, my honda civic has the same issue so I'm hoping this will solve it 👍🏻
I had this same issue and a mechanic told me it’ll be $400 to replace the wiper motor then I found your video and just needed to replace the bolt 😫🙌🏾 Thanks for the great tip!
You should go back to that mechanic and say thanks for trying to RIP me off asshole... you'll never see me again, but i'll spread the word.
Absolutely excellent & clear explanation. Thank you so much!!
Great professional informing video! It's the exact same problem I entailed on my 2000 F150 work truck this past week. Ice caked in between windshield and wipers and stopped working on the DRIVERS SIDE. I'll try the loc-tite as a temp fix! Thanks again.
Let me know how you do.Thank you for watching.
Great video! Very helpful as I was having the same problem with my 2018 Camry. Took 2 minutes to fix once I figured out the issue
Thanks for the video. I was able to tighten the nut down and get the wiper working again cause of this video!
Yes, Thanks from me too! This video is very helpful. Had the same problem for sometime now. New subscriber!
Worked like a charm. I owe you. Much obliged. 2007 Toyota Sienna...30 degrees outside...in the dark with a flashlight...i did it...lots of aluminum scraped off the splines/threads. I used Cheap dollar store crazy glue. It really worked. I want to translate what you did to Armenian if that is okay. If not, no problem. Great job! Thanks again. God Bless you.
Thank you for this. It just happened on my wife's Infiniti Q56.
Thanks very much. This really helps. My question is which loctite strength (color) is best so that it can be removed with ordinary tools when the part is finally replaced?
I have a 2002 Chevy Express cargo van that I use to tow a boat and a travel trailer. It runs very well with about 120,000 miles on it so am going to keep it for awhile. As with many older vehicles, little things break. I found that using 3M 5200 sealant works great. I use it on my boat for below water line repairs. It is pretty much a permanent fix so one has to be cautious when using this sealant. I also have some interior parts that break and I use Gorilla glue epoxy for those repairs. Thanks for all the tips!
Thank you for stopping by the shop
Excellent. Thanks for the information. Looks like I need some Locktite and a warmer day than today. At least there’s no precipitation in the forecast.
Thank you for watching . I'm happy to help. Don't forget to subscribe.
Very informative and well explained 👍👍
I did what you suggested on the splines and it has worked well for a few months, so many thanks for the tip. I need to get the arm off now as the transmission has finally gone. Any suggestions as how to get the arm off the spline now it is glued on?? I`ve tried but it seems to be fast on
thanks for your video contributions Jim. Your video on changing a Ford Oil filter housing assembly is a one of a kind I believe. that video helped me change mine successfully. Thanks for the good work!
pat
Very helpful I’m going to check this out tomorrow and see if I can’t just fix it myself. Mechanic said 1.5 hours to fix depending on what it was but hopefully I can fix it myself. At least I know what possibly is going on. Thanks car guy✌🏾
Thank you! This helps!! Lesson learned, i made the mistake of turning them on with snow on the windshield it was more than i thought
Glad it helped!
Ashley Jo Been there, done that. :-(
I had my drivers wiper on my 2016 Ford Transit 250 and the nut was loose leveled it off put on some locktite and voila it works perfectly now. Thank you!
Thank you for this it helped me I was ready to go to a mechanic lol it saved me money by tightening the screw 😅
Thanks for the Video!!!! Now my windshield works!!!!!
thank you! my 01 impala LS is doing this and this fixed it
Sorry I meant does the loctite fix the windshield to hold like glue or do I have to replace the wiper
This is exactly what was wrong with my wiper. Thanks Jim
Glad it helped
Good to know. I didn't know that there's a windshield wiper transmission. Thanks!
Thank you Jimmy! About how much should the New wiper transmission cost?
very well done Jim my sister has one ,same problem happen had to work it over.thanks sam
Thank you .I'm happy to help.
Thanks so much Jim
Thank you so much i fixed my wiper
Nice, Thanks going too try tomorrow :)
Tanks for the informative video
My 2015 Honda Pilot has the same issue. I can tighten it manually but then it eventually works loose again. This video is very helpful and I'm going to give this a try. Thanks!
Im happy to help. Thanks for watching.
@@jimthecarguy We've had a hard freeze and I think that 'caused' the issue for whatever reason. When it's above freezing it works fine (once I tighten it). When the weather improves I'm going to proceed with the locktight method. I'll let you know how it goes.
I have same problem in my car and i am looking for some technician to fix it. but after watching this video I think i can fix it myself very easily. Thank you
Thanks for watching. I'm happy to help.
Made quick work on my del sol! Thank you!
I'm happy to help. Watch for the next free tool giveaway coming soon.
Thanks for sharing. It worked for me and I did it myself!!
Great job. Thank you for watching . I'm happy to help. Don't forget to subscribe.
Thanks for the info.
Nice video bro thanks just subscribed
Thank you!!! I’m gonna give it a try
Thanks so much!! 👍
Hello Jim I just used the loctide for the swipper and didn’t work. What should I do?
Good video. Been through this years ago & decided to replace the passenger piece that contains the spline since I want a permanent fix.
Thanks for sharing
So did u have to replace it or does that loctite u put on it fix it ?
JB Weld could work well too? I usually use that epoxy for bonding metals. Loctite looks easy though, which would use use?
You rock thanks for the tip.
Thank you so much!!
My passenger side wiper on 2013 Elantra stopped working...from car wash.. it's the small wiper, can I remove it to prevent damage ??
Good man..worked for me
Jim my 1994 F 150 just did the same thing. Today for fist time. Can I pull off my passenger blade & put lock tite to fix you think?
Can't believe I didn't think of locktite Gonna try this in the morning and see if that fixes mine on a 2014 Chevy cruze. Thanks.
Glad to help
try driving a car in pouring rain for 2 miles and you can only see on one side. my driver side went down where the passenger side kept going
Thank you for watching . I'm happy to help. Don't forget to subscribe.
Lol almost died like this
Hello great work ..is my ford taurus is it design the same way.? On drivers side
Try driving 81 miles.
I have a Pontiac grand am and the same thing happened to me. Is this something fixable like the Hyundai?
Great video and very helpful. My 2008 Saturn Vue just started doing the same thing (passenger wiper not working), so after watching your video I am going to see if I can do the fix you demonstrated otherwise I guess it's to the dealership I must go. I guess if the driver's side wiper is still working, that must mean that the actual wiper transmission is still in a functioning state? I guess I will see when I check it. Thanks again for the great video! George B.
I'm happy to help. Thank you for watching
What if i've got the same problem (only one wiper working out of the two) but when i remove it, if doesn't rotate as it should be (opposite of this video)?
Thanks for the vid, easy fix on my car!
Thanks for watching. Im happy to help. Don't forget to subscribe.
So I've got a question about one wiper not working on my car. So the wipers both move one works fine the other moves just a smidge, but won't work what should I look for or do you recommend I do
What is the typical cost for the procedure you just completed at a garage and what would be the cost of the wiper transmission?
Is this the same on every car. My mitsubishi shogun wiper has stopped moving on the driver's side
Thank you now I know where to start
Thank you i had the similar problems but on the driver side snd Fix it thank you
So I’m curious, what did you replace ?
How did you get it working without replacing any part
Great video thanks ✌🏿 n love
You are so welcome
I have 1x wiper that does not rotate and the other does. Is this a windshield motor problem? Or relay? The fuse I checked is ok. Please help ;(
I bought my 2015 Nissan sentra last October and my drivers side wiper stopped working about last month. Well actually it does move a bit, but not all the way. Haven't had any time to get it checked out yet. So I think I'll use this video to see if the bolt is loose! I'm hoping that this possibly fixes the problem cause it's terrifying driving in the rain and I'm not trying to get a ticket 😅
I've got the same issue on my 2007 Toyota Prius but mine is the drivers side. I was wondering if you know what a rough estimate price would be for parts and labor if it comes to that?
Before you pay anyone make sure that the nut is not just loose. Keep me posted. Thanks for watching
Thanks for the video
Our pleasure!
Thank u very helpful!
Thank you for watching . I'm happy to help. Don't forget to subscribe.
Many thanks! Like most of the comments, it only needed a bit of tightening.
Thank you.
If JimTheCarGuy was my local mechanic, I’d spend racks for how awesome of a job he does.
Thank you for watching.
Justin Maldonado Yea on your cheap Ford
Thank you so much saved me £££
Ty so much as a newly broke single mother. And both my splines are good. I am very good with cars and I was gonna us super glue so I can't thank you enough for the advice. Someday I hope to become a mechanic. I love working with cars. Ty so so so much. My hero. No offense to any wife. I just can't ty you enough
Well both not working what do I do, is it the same process
Hi i got a problem with my 2004 chevy malibu car the driver side works but the passenger side doesnt move and it look like it was broke
Both of them work but one is not wiping all the water of the window when it rains very hard so do I change both of them or just one of them
Leathea Nottage you will need to check the wiper arm to make sure that the spring is holding the arm to the window
My Honda Civic had the same problem... Only neither wiper is working now 😩. So I will try this
Good luck! Do you hear the motor turning?
Is this the same for a Subaru forester?, I mean I know they are not the same car, however they all work the same.
