I still think pardoning your son isn't as bad as literal fascism. Centrists are going to have to subsist entirely on feelings of smug superiority as society crumbles around us.
Regarding Biden's pardoning of his son, as a Canadian fan of the show, I'm suprised Ian took such a strong stance. The dishonesty wasn't that Biden broke his promise and therefore the entire Democratic party is deceitful, is was that Biden and the party made the promise in the first place. US presidents have given personal pardons frequently, so Biden promising not to was an anomoly and forced abdication of his discretion that had no hope of sustaining. Biden was responding to the promise from Republicans to continue political persecutions against his son, politicians, and beaurcrats. This was an undoing of an injustice, the main reason to give pardons in the first place. Hand-wringing now proves why the left lost the election. Voters wanted fighters for justice, not promises of a vague moral code that burdened Biden's ability to govern effectively.

In his role as president of the United States (January 20, 2017 - January 20, 2021), Donald Trump granted executive clemency to 237 individuals charged or convicted of federal criminal offenses,
Trump pardoned a bunch of Blackwater war criminals who filmed themselves mowing down civilians with a machine gun while driving around Baghdad, but Biden is wrong for pardoning his son who lied when registering a firearm which thousands of Americans have done without charges being pressed against them.

That's lies, hypocrisy and allowing people to get away with whatever it was. Murder? Bribes? Well never know... And also: Biden is an accomplice to genocide. He lost the moral high ground to a rapist, fraudster fascist.
Joe's son was pursued by a Trump loyalist holdover and the plea deal he agreed to in good faith was rescinded, due to political pressure. Anyone who says they wouldn't do the same thing for their kid, in similar circumstances, is a liar. I'd be shocked if Trump didn't have a hand in f-ing up the plea deal. Have I Got a Bit More News for You S68 E9. Mel Giedroyc. December 6, 2024 did they ban the last upload due to my commenting upon it or is this the all new mel comedy show hour...... half hour?
Ever since Mel said she spat on someone’s food when she was a waiter I can’t stand her. I’m a horrible person no doubt, but you don’t spit in someone’s food, regardless of how they treat you.
Why do Brits say "Pyootin" ? It's quite jarring to hear, when the word is extremely simple. Especially when Brits give you such a hard time about their own Places that are never said as they're written... It's really like when Americans say "Eye-raq" or "Eye-ran". It's insensitive to their cultures and, I might add, flat out wrong.
Whilst I agree with you about the Americans who say "Eye-raq" and "Eye-ran" ... Putin has a 'U' in it, like emu, which we _don't_ pronounce it "emoo" like the Americans do, incorrectly.
@@brigidsingleton1596 Do you say "pyoot that back in the closet"? Do you say "that's a pyoongent odour"? Plenty of examples. It's just extremely lazy when these people are largely media and journalism personalities. First sign of competence is showing you can pronounce the words correctly (or as close as you can get), no matter the country of origin.
Mel still says "gang" even though Ian specifically asked her not to do that on a past host gig. I don't understand how she still gets work. She's kind of stupid.
Mel is my least liked presenter, nothing personal except I try to not talk about myself and find Mel often seems to bring herself into it. I don't watch to find out the quirks of whoever's presenting this week. The presenter is just a vessel for the laughs regarding the shows content.
A competent host of a satyrical news quiz does not need to tell us the audience whether something someone said is good or not. We are capable of judging that for ourselves.

It just feels a little unfair for them to be left unaware to what's being laughed about & leaving Paul to end up describing it for them? 🤔 Just a thought.
I believe they're given a run through of what's to be shown before they appear on the show...
@dd-jm1md 🤔 It just seems like that it's left for Paul to hurriedly describe what's going on tbh.
I've seen the likes of Only Connect, Countdown, etc. before with a blind contestant and they just seem like they go more out of their way to assist them. 🤔
@@dd-jm1md Yes, Chris has said he's told ahead of time.
It makes for some funny moments, though. CMc pokes fun at himself & the awkwardness of the "abled" dealing with the "disabled".

We will vote for the Dems again. Joe has been through shite. I don't blame him for doing this for his son. The nation's media and the Dems (his own party) turned on Joe in the most vicious of ways. Then Harris loses - when I am certain Joe would have won. Right on Joe! Pardon your son!
It's not that he pardons him. It's that he repeatedly stated the opposite. And gave him immunity for a time period that had nothing to do with the crime.
He was calling everyone and their brother trying to steal the 2020 election, who's to say he wasn't making calls to high places about this too.
He's completely senile...
I think he did it to protect his son from Trump, who he feels will go after him through his family if he can. So he protected the most vulnerable of his family as best he could.
Joe would never have won wtf did you see him in the debate?
Jamie MacDonald “stole the show”, to me 😂
Agreed. His driving licence gag was a belter!
@@liamhegarty3220 Reminds me of the trouble my blind musician friend endured to have his small pantech truck registered in his name, as he's never had a driver's licence!

You guys are smarter than this. You can't think of any reason Jill Biden might think it appropriate to decorate in a circus theme? Any reason at all? As far as the pardon, I have no problem with it. Everybody knows he never should have been prosecuted for it in the first place and to leave him as Trump's first political prisoner would be awful. We're waiting on his promised political prosecutions. The US is over. I hope the Biddn's can find sanctuary somewhere.
Completely agree.
Also, I'm sick of this "the right can destroy everything and we say how bad it is but do nothing because we have to be 'nice' but the moment the left isn't _absolutely perfect_ everyone loses their minds" nonsense.
Given that trump and Kash are promoting and threatening their enemies list, and in the US even an investigation could ruin people on a civil service salary, I think that Pres Biden should pardon those like Ms Cassidy who seem to be at the top of Kash Patel's list. Others are rich enough but this is likely to be a 2 to 4 year feeding frenzy for lawyers. The legal system has been weaponised for years with Slapp suits.
BTW If you watch how upset the judge in Hunter's case is, he admitted that he was going to give decades in prison for lying on his gun licence and delaying and then paying his taxes plus penatlies. The agreement had been 2 years that the judge threw out on a technicality. I think if Kamala had won the presidency Biden would not have pardoned his son. Sorry, but with the GOP undermining the legal system, then the Dems need to reduce some of the outfall. trumps people would have enjoyed the imprisonment of Hunter for 20 plus years as a method of torturing President Biden.
The reason for the decorations is that the White House traditionally hosts groups of children around the festive season. Surprised no one brought it up on the show.
Illiterate much, dumbbell?
This is the 4th time I've seen Mel burped on a national tv

I hate mayonnaise BUT Japanese mayo tastes completely different and really nice. Id give that a blast.
Who would of thought that Trump is a Turkey
Could you learn to spell basic English before posting a public comment, please?
No, he is not even the turkey, he is what makes the turkey stuffed.
And the man why does the whales introduced me to Slartinartfast, the man who did the fjords
Slartibartfast 😊
Slartibartfast is a Magrathean and a designer of planets. His favourite part of the job is creating coastlines, the most notable of which are the fjords found on the coast of Norway on planet Earth, for which he won an award.
so how many people lick the top off their mars bar?

God he really is a dry cheese sandwich of a man
Ever since Mel said she spat on someone’s food when she was a waiter I can’t stand her. I’m a horrible person no doubt, but you don’t spit in someone’s food, regardless of how they treat you.
Choosing her as host has ruined this episode, for me. I got half way through and couldn't take any more.
Do you hold yourself to the same standard? Do you refuse to forgive yourself for things done decades ago?
@@eastvandb Was she asking to be forgiven when she told the story about doing it to someone?
Why do Brits say "Pyootin" ? It's quite jarring to hear, when the word is extremely simple. Especially when Brits give you such a hard time about their own Places that are never said as they're written...
It's really like when Americans say "Eye-raq" or "Eye-ran". It's insensitive to their cultures and, I might add, flat out wrong.
Because it has a U in it.
@Emanon...
Well for one thing, I don't say Putin, at all so the others are unaffected.
We don't say 'pyootin'. It's 'Pootin' You're hearing extra bits. Something to remember is there is no single 'British' accent.
Mel still says "gang" even though Ian specifically asked her not to do that on a past host gig. I don't understand how she still gets work. She's kind of stupid.
It's almost like they were joking...
Effectively, not the best show of the season.
I’d lay money your judgement and mine will differ widely, for which I’m most grateful. You’d have to be dead on the inside to not enjoy Mel telling you what’s good.
@alipanroosendaal9503 My God, you are a sensitive soul, aren't you?
can we also "judge" your spelling? SATIRICALLY?!!
@@Kate-lk6tw She probably does not claim to be an intellectual. Some might suggest that it is counter- intuitive to have the host of a cake show hosting. However, I don't buy that. All it does is drag one of the few smart shows in the BBC roster down to the level of tawdry junk TV.
