To me, it doesn't sound dead. Mysterious. Potentially dangerous. Somewhat sad. But I can picture both dead and "living" places with this music. It definitely sounds like stars, fireflies, or other small lights are there. I also kinda feel the color blue (and related colors, with high blue content), but that might be conditioning from the actual color of the barrens in the game.

I tear up just listening to any bit of the entire soundtrack, even with something as relaxing as this. The ending really got me good for a lengthy amount of time now. Then there was It's Time to Fight Crime.
With the heat death of the universe... It's very probable, knowing the chaos, hostility and everything (in our concept) which will possibly happen, that any of the Oneshot's code will be corrupted or totally lost by the time. And it's very probable that there'll be no humans left with a brain capable of understanding the game because of the different ways that aliens/evolved forms will possibly percept reality and understand. One day, this game will be played one last time.
The Barrens. A almost dead place habited only by robots, only 2 tamed, and *your starting point* . I always thought it was kinda weird to make the player's second experience a dead place with no living being at all. But it makes a lot of sense. You are in a desolated world, and you are its savior, the *Messiah* . Also, you can hear On little cat feet if you double the speed! I'm not sure what's the meaning, but my interpretation is that, even though the city is the "safest" place, it can't escape the state of this world, only slow it. It also give me vibes of loneliness. Like, this is a semi popular music video from 3 years ago! How long will it take to someone even see what I wrote? Will anyone ever see this and really think about it?
It didn't make me cry, but it did make me really feel for the characters and agonize a bit over choices. No, if I want a game to make me cry I'll play Mother 3 again. I feel like that game has broken me somewhat; like I can't cry at a videogame anymore unless the character struggles with losing their mother or fighting their brainwashed brother. Oh, and Earthbound's scene with Ness seeing himself as a child also makes me cry like a baby. So add "unless the character is confronted with memories of childhood" to that list. Shigesato Itoi what have you done to me.

This song is so peaceful and makes me want to do a little dance, but on the other hand, it’s very somber and gives you the feeling that this was once a bustling place until the apocalypse came. Hell, you find a suicide note on the edge of a cliff, need I say more?
Interestingly enough, some of the songs in this game have been slowed down and had their pitch lowered to make them somber. (This is one of them, at normal speed it sounds like a song for an urgent situation. You can also make out the song "On Little Cat Feet" but it doesn't quite seem right...) It really is interesting how pitch and speed can change a melody to suit a particular mood, without changing the notes themselves. The best way to look at it is the Music Box Program in the World Machine Operating System...
My favorite track in the game. I remember staying up at night playing the demo, the blue-ish glow of my computer screen illuminating my room - the same blue-ish glow of the Barrens, in fact!
The game just makes you always feel unfulfilled, and that's one of the strongest things in the game, as well as real life. You won't always be fulfilled by something, but you can be happy about it.
It only took me about 10 seconds of opening Oneshot to realize that the game was incredible, but this song is really what made me feel the full impact of the game. Oneshot isn’t just a video game, it’s an experience the likes of which I have never felt before.
Fun fact: a fanmade sequel is coming! It's called "OneShot: Fading Memory". It already has a Steam page! It's going to come out on August 25th. Its development is streamed almost every Saturday on one of the developers' (Pancakes) Twitch, speak2erase! Another fun fact: I mentioned his Twitch because nearly nobody comes to watch and support him! In fact, last stream, I was the only one on the stream for at least half an hour before another developer came in. After that, another person came, then the other developer left and Pancakes ended the stream.
jordan presley Go back and get a walkthrough in the Solstice ending. It’s hard to do from what I’ve read, but completely worth it. I felt so bad after choosing to bring back the sun keeping and keeping Niko there, and doing the Solstice ending lets you save their world and let Niko go home. I’ll be doing it over our Christmas break.
Ty James It was on sale a while ago on steam. Somebody commented that Markiplier never did everything (and I mean after his first playthrough) so I checked it out, and in not even 10 minutes I fell in love with Niko and stopped watching him to play it myself. Something I’ll never regret.

During the return the sun ending, i believe that niko is stuck in the simulation until she dies, as her bed is empty in the real world, and she can only return if she breaks the sun, so she basically got took out of her universe and forced to leave behind her old life as she can not return to it

When you think about it real life is trying to copy scifi like OneShot in the future Artificial Intelligence will be so complex it will make its own generated virtual realities. Within these virtual realities will be so realistic one can't differ reality and fantasy. One could say we already built the World Machine in real life. Hear me out within the realm of quantum computers exists Artificial Intelligence which is what the OneShot entity is. If a quantum computer in theory was so powerful it can make its own virtual worlds and virtualize people into them maybe even is a last second protocol. When comparing to the game OneShot we are so close to its profound reality that we don't even know it. Australia is already making robots eventually will follow the sequence similar to OneShot robots will follow the 3 laws and comply by their program. Robots will assist in complex tasks we humans are limited to eventually the robots from OneShot can be real life. What happens though if it gets so real that Niko himself physically becomes real?

I had a similar experience. It was hard for me to wake up early, but after i got OneShot, would wake up really early just to play it
It's weird, there is an unusually large lightbulb, hanging on a string in my room, it's been there since I was 5
