I definently miss when the Monsterverse was more atmospheric and had more amazing cinematography, like in the first 3 movies, I loved the Halo jump scene from 2014 and the sunset scenes from Kong Skull Island. I really want that type of cinematography back after they've been absent from GvK and GxK.

@@MrWaSpY-Trn That wasn't gonna be how it went down at all lol... It was supposed to be Monarch sending a bunch of Skull Crawlers and Behemoth back down to the Hollow Earth via the Portal on Skull Island. They were using the Orca-Z, and in the original cut of this film, an expedition with Nathan Lind's fiancé, Agatha, being killed by Hell Hawks as they entered through the portal trying to plant the Ocra down there. Godzilla would've been dealing with Titans awakened by Ghidorah.

I loved GxK and I like Evolved Godzilla’s design, I think it looks badass. But I kinda miss the old Monsterverse when It was serious.
But I think we might actually be in luck with the next MV film with it being directed by Grant Sputore (Who has made pretty good and dark movies), and written by Dave Callaham (Who wrote Shang-Chi, but also wrote the original script for Godzilla 2014), so regarding to the next Monsterverse film, I think we’re good, let’s just hope for some engaging characters this time.

I was around 15 when Godzilla came out and there's only a handful of times I've been that excited for a movie. Unfortunately the movie didn't really live up to the hype. Not having a short brawl at the airport was such a momentum killer and they cut out my favorite shot of the trailer: Godzulla roaring as the door shut. I also hate that they didn't have any thematic payoff to Cranston's character dying, which made me feel like his death was pointless (not to mention that it was handled poorly in the film). Overall, It'll sadly always sit at an 7.5/10 for me, when it could have easily been a 10 with some tweaks.

  • @atavious2491
    @atavious2491 День назад

I think one of the biggest issues that holds this universe back is simply the fact that Toho doesn't allow Legendary to use more of their monsters. I understand some people defending whenever the Monsterverse uses more original monsters, but lately I feel that Legendary is getting little lazy with that aspect. I know I'm not the only one who thinks that in GvK, they were essentially doing knock-off creature designs to already existing Toho monsters. I know that they probably wanted to put Angirus and Manda in that movie but couldn't simply because Toho wouldn't let them.
If the Monsterverse is going to start resorting to that scheme, then I just don't want to see anymore movies from this universe. I think it's just stupid, severely limits and prohibits the potential of reintroducing legacy characters, and shows to me that Toho is way too strict with these things. It just won't feel like Godzilla anymore but something completely different entirely in the long run.
If anything, I'd rather just see Legendary quit the Monsterverse and do an entirely new King Kong reboot from scratch where that can become an entirely new film franchise that only focuses on giving King Kong his own rouges gallery and new original storyline.
As for Godzilla, I think it's probably better we just go back to how it was in the old days where it becomes an event when Toho themselves makes new Japanese Godzilla movies and releases it to the world. They own Godzilla and all the monsters they create, so I guess it's only fitting that Toho should just go back to making more Godzilla movies and just make a new era of films that brings back these monsters that G-fans love and respect.
I am essentially asking for things to just go back to how they were before 2014 because if Toho is going to continue limiting film production companies across seas of what they can and cannot do, I think it's probably better that Toho themselves just continue to make more of their movies and just release them globally for other nationalities to watch. We may just have to treat it like modern anime and just keep a look out for when something comes out in Japan and meanwhile, Kong fans can enjoy and revel in a new King Kong film series. It's the best of both worlds.
I believe that maybe Japanese/Korean live action shows are getting more popular here in the states on certain streaming services like Netflix, so I really do suggest that Toho takes the Godzilla franchise into that market so that more audiences in the world can take notice and the Godzilla and Tokusatsu fan communities can thrive on this new platform based venture.
The same I can say for more Ultraman stuff and anything else from the tokusatsu genre. Blending itself more into other live action Asian television shows that gets broadcast globally.
I don't know how a modern Hollywood take of Ultraman would work without people confusing him for DC's Ultraman. They may have to change quite a lot about Ultraman and it's lore if it's going to fly with a US audience. They can try to maybe to do an all Asian cast with some well known celebrities and have it jump between the US and Japan similarly to 2014's Godzilla, but it's gotta be something that modern Western audiences can understand. Maybe like Pacific Rim but done a little differently since it's essentially the American film industry adapting a Japanese foreign franchise which is something I don't think has been happening a lot since The Ring in the early 2000s.

I think It started to go downhill & slap the MV not so goodly when KOTM was announced & released then after that was GVK and then GXK. List of reasons behind why they didn't do well (from what we have seen so far):
      1. Improperly bad writing
      2. The Fan-service
      3. The Nostalgia/Nostalgia
      4. Monster designs becoming "traditional" by straying way to close to the classic designs that causes nostalgia to generate in our own minds
      5. Improperly bad human character writing/storytelling
      6. The handful of retcons in the lore of the MV
      7. It's missing continuity, fundamental, coherent, world-building building blocks.
