One of the best games that showcased Bob Knight's coaching genius came in the 1987 NCAA Final Four against the number one team in the country, UNLV, who were 37-1 entering the Final Four. Bob Knight and the Hoosiers usually played a more patient and methodical offense, running sets and playing motion offense as opposed to the run-and-gun style of UNLV's offense, which they overpowered many teams en route to the Final Four in 1987.
That day, Bob Knight saw the Hoosiers' best way to victory would be to run with the Runnin' Rebels of UNLV.
The Hoosiers would shoot 62% from the field that day as opposed to UNLV, who shot 43% from the field. Indiana would also be strong from the free-throw line, shooting 75% from the free-throw line compared to UNLV, who shot 53% from the free-throw line.

That was such a great game. I remember watching it from our rental, beach house in New Smyrna Beach, FL.
It was the first day of Spring Break ‘87.

7:50 Where was the travel? HIs left foot was his pivot foot and he kept it on the ground.
On the night of the title game I made $140 on a "rush job" for some student (always got calls during big games for some reason), and on the way home, some drunk college student asks me if I'd turn down my girlfriend for a BASKETBALL GAME. I'm like "who wouldn't?"
