Beautiful! I love how sweet and soulful it is with the violins, while at the same time fiercely independent. Sometimes there's no reason to apologize; people don't know what you're going through. "I'm not the enemy/Unless you want the truth to see..." This is exactly what I needed to hear!
I thought of this song right after therapy. It was so fitting to what we talked about. I have a hard time with caring about things people in my life don't. It makes me feel like I have to kind of change myself and be agreeable. In turn, compromising myself despite not wanting to. I really love the message of this song and it makes me feel at peace with myself. ✨💛
Love this song! I think the correct lyric is actually "I'm not the enemy / Unless that's what you choose to see" If you listen closely, you'll hear it, and it makes more sense!

I always thought the line was I'm not the enemy unless that's what you choose to see. What does "unless you want the truth to see" mean in that context? That I'm not the enemy unless you look at the truth? That doesn't seem to fit.

So ... we have those like myself that have no choice than to just be ME.... and learn to not care about living up to others ideas of ME....sometimes we come to a point when we ask ourselves.... am I me?... or I am I being you?.. if we are not like most people .... more than likely we are the TRUE ME;s.... that is just my opinion.

I hate sara bareilles. My most hated artist. Because she understands all my inside personality. We're exactly the same. Gosh, Her music and philosophy always make me happy and sad. I hate you. Why you have that gift?

1st off just cuz she is gifted an can sing songs that relates to us all in ways don't mean that you have to to hate her be thankful that Sara Bareilles songs make you an happy an sad at the same time cuz it just a reminder that we are feel something in this messed up life we created, An that we are human with feelings, but if you hate her why listen to her music?? A lot of her song reminds me of the times I had with my sister Melissa who passed away when she was 15 an I was only 12, an I'm grateful for that.
