Sailin' Shoes is my favorite food cover, so far, and nice choice to show the great Tom Waits "Nighthawks" album.. Right "Eggs & Sausage". Closing Time is a favorite, as well, for me. Tull, Procol Harum, I was fortunate to see them very early on over here in the western U.S. Such a great Hall & Oates ! Although.. "Sara Smile" always knocks me out ! With this.. You are entered into my contest. Sean will randomly pick 3 winners on Sept. 29th Sunday 1 pm Pacific standard time. Thank you so much, again ! Great tune to end with and I'm gonna stream this album on my commute to downtown Reno here in a while.
I thought you were going to enter dressed as a Shaolin monkey with that intro music. I love that Hall and Oates album. How about the Allman Brothers - Eat a Peach; Atomic Rooster - Nice and Greasy: The Who - Sell Out. Cheers Mal.
Afternoon Mally.. another delicious video. Couldnt agree more regards the Hall n Oates album.. A forgotten classic.. Hulls local lad done good Philipp (Goodhand) Taits 1980 "Good old Phils" album with a giant hot dog on the cover.. Coming from Hull you would have thought the cover would have been a big helping of fish n chips. but hey, by 1980 Phil had probably gone a bit more up market.. Take care Mally...
Somebody kindly gave me a batch of free records recently and Abandoned Luncheonette was among them. I haven’t played it yet but after watching this I will!
Here I am on a strict diet with only a breakfast cereal & a TV dinner to mark either end of the day, black coffee & no snacks whatsoever, & playing Joni Mitchell's *Wild Things Run Fast* for no other reason than she always looked slim even in a gatefold sleeve. There is in all people's lives a weird whimsical network of coincidences that crisscross like longwave radio, invisibly & hardly ever profound but usually ironic like Fate taking the mickey, so no surprise you're doing *Entry-food album covers* now. That's how I read it until I realised it was a dash not a hyphen - - & who else would read it as *entry-food* anyway? it makes no sense to anyone but a psychologist who would see that to lose this much weight I've had to brainwash myself with what amounts to a No-Entry sign at food counters. Even to get from the kitchen to this chair I had to pass a 7-foot tall 1970s revolving record rack with Jack McDuff showing off Downhome cooking & Hot Barbecue, & Dave Brubeck & Bill Smith at some confectioner's downing some very fat-looking milkshakes. I can't even *play* those albums at the minute for fear of putting weight on. I'll play an old mono copy of Peggy Lee's *Black Coffee* next - - it wouldn't qualify for the Food Contest unless you can chew on the granules & it might come to that, but comment threads aren't acceptable entries anyway. The good news is my pants are falling down.
Cheers 4-dman. I think ,if I read you right, that congratulations are in order. As someone with a lifetime spent juggling excess calorific intake with a sedentary lifestyle I think I might see where you're coming from-or equally ~I may be missing your point entirely. Either way I enjoy and appreciate your comments immensely
Not much to get the old (but very much my own) teeth stuck into, there, Mal - maybe no appetite for such an indigestible subject or perhaps simply too much chew? I do think your palette could have included Taste or that must-have album from ‘69, ‘Nice Enough to Eat’ - we all had it. Anyway, nice vid, as always, and love those tantalising intros; whatever next?
How about Juicy Lucy's first album, both cover and band name are from a different era thankfully. The Waits album is great and I was fortunate enough to see him with that band in the late seventies in London.
OMG ! I didn't see your entry in my notifications.. Sorry, and i will watch here in a bit. Thank you for taking the time to do one.

Great entry Mel. Never thought of that Japan album with the rice. Big fan here. That Hall and Oates doesn’t get enough love in the VC. Cheers.
Cheers Jack

I do remember that compilation album-a few of my mates had a copy. You've now, however, totally put me off my dinner
@@VinylMonkey58 Sorry, Mal, ‘twas just a daft whimsy which sort of slotted into the food theme.
I give my nominations to Robin Trower's B.L.T. and Jack Bruce's Things We Like
Nice suggestions Duncan-cheers

Wow-I wish I could have seen that -cheers David
