That Hatfields' debut represents just under half of their studio output, Mal. Even better is their second album 'The Rotters' Club' (a song from which inspired my nom-de-plume) and the perfect standalone 45 'Let's Eat (Real Soon)'. Henry Cow weren't strictly a Canterbury Scene band (they actually hailed from Cambridge) but were linked by members appearing on albums such as Steve Hillage's 'Fish Rising' and National Health's awesome 'Of Queues and Cures'. By the way, I'm sure I don't need to point out that the albums you've featured are now rather collectable! Nice show, matey. Dave

Thanks for sharing that info Dave. I've never heard Rotters Club - but if I remember rightly it's also in my friend's 'attic' collection-so I'll seek to borrow it.

My goodness. You started off with the Cow. I've been a fan of Henry Cow since the mid 70s. Once again you have made my day. There's no band quite like them, well maybe Frank Zappa. Or is Henry Cow like Frank Zappa? Doesn't matter.

Cheers Mark-glad my little daft video brightened your day. I prefer Henry Cow's sincerity to Zappa's cynicism every time

Unrest, what a classic eh Mal. I like the whole thing, must say. A friend of mine saw Fred Frith recently at London's Cafe Oto and said he was astonishing. Still going strong. Wish I'd seen it.

Morning Mally.. Nice video.. Off the wall as they say.. If you dont already know of him check out early, 60s/70s Mike Coopers albums in particular "Trout Steel" from 71.."Ive got mine" from that same album as left a lasting impression since first hearing it around that time.. Take care Mally..

Cheers William. I've never heard of Mike Cooper, but being a total 'fishing nut' I love the title and will look it up, particularly the song you recommend

I don't know what I'm hearing but that is quirky, funky magic. Kinda reminded me of a 00's Baton Rouge L.A. band called Liquidrone. Prog is great. It's exciting, it stalls, it's exciting, it stalls, etc. Check out a band on Drunk Dial records called Escare. I love the endtro! That's cool. Cheers!

Lofts are always the culture's go-to for art. We leave the basement to horror films.
This has unfortunate accidental class distinctions, as if we'd find the Eloi in the attic & the Morlocks in the basement - - the Eloi as the future bourgeoisie & the Morlocks being the future proletariat who fulfill Marx's subversion of class hierarchy but at what a cost!
Perhaps the symbolic solution is to move yr pal's attic to the loft of an eco-warrior's treehouse.

Nice one 4-dman-love that suggestion and I'm sure my friend will enjoy the literary associations
