Cheers mate! Yeah it's a lot of stop/starting and re-watching parts over and over, takes a good while to do but I still enjoy making these videos and 4Kids One Piece is a right laugh to watch as well.
The text removal was not 4kids fault per say, they requested blank animation cells so they could layer stuff onto it and edit the frames. Those animation cells just lacked English text on objects since they were part of different layers.
Nope that record would have to go their Yu-Gi-Oh! dubs, literally more than 1000 episodes full of digital paint edits compared to One Piece's 104. Yu-Gi-Oh! was unfortunately the one franchise that was unable to escape 4kids with them still dubbing the shows to this very day with the same edits and censorship.

This series made me realize just how much 4kids used to change, its actually incredible that they probably spent a fuckton of money for changes no one wanted them to make, I wonder how much profit they even got from licencing those shows
Yeah I do give 4Kids credit, they must of had some decent digital painters/editors on staff. Some edits are better than others, but being able to paint Sanji out of a sequence that has a lot of moving parts (I'm sure the editors also weren't given a lot of time to make the changes during production) is impressive....it's just that there's no logical reason to make that change in the first place 😅

I understand cutting the flashing joke but like overall like these edits don't account for the fact that like these characters come off as far worse people and role models for kids if that's the focus with how they often remove the reason for violence but still keep the effect of it in.

I wouldn’t be able to take 4Kids dubbed seriously if the guns were water guns (I have not watched it either) (Please read the follows in a voice people use gathered around the camp fire telling creepy stories) Now picture this. A bunch of mean pirates and marines (different situations as the marines would just capture the other pirates) corner Luffy and his gang. They all pull out what seems to be regular firearms. Tension builds up…….they shoot…..and all they feel is water-

Well 4kids got sent the blank text animation cells by Toei, so since his name wasn't on there (it was added in another layer) they figured they would make him hip and cool by calling him Trace

There’s a reason why you hear most mofo’s say that Robin is superior to Nami. And I agree, because not only is she fine af, but she’s a lot more mentally mature, intelligent, & friendly. I am not saying that I don’t like Nami, I just think she needs to chill out a lil bit is all.
