Bill Maher and Stephen A. Smith randomly riff on the thickness trend with women, why Stephen A. thinks Kyrie Irving was wrong, the two sports Stephen A. and Bill don’t care about, the greatest sportscasters ever, their mutual love of Barry Bonds, why athletes’ bodies are so much more fragile today and why they are babied so much more, the title of Bill’s imaginary book about medicine, Ali getting sent to Vietnam, why basketball players touch even after a missed free throw, and why Stephen A. doesn’t get married.

As an Australian had no idea who Stephen is, but so happy to have watched todays episode and found him through Bill.
Totally agree of the little sports I watch I could never give a damn about hockey, I’ve tried and can’t 😂
Loved the OPEN talk about vaccines in sport, I’m left political but I agree with pro choice which has includes vaccines.
Did another spit take when Bill yelled HEIGHT 😅
And agree with Stephen, that Bill has to be given credit for always calling out both sides, as without the willing to call out both sides, we cannot be honest with ourselves.

The players are not frailer nowadays Bill, there's just so much money involved, the teams and the players can both afford to take as much time as they need to heal and get surgeries and have multiple back-up contingency plans so that everyone will be able to fulfill their contractual obligations and earn billions. Also, with technology has come the age of analytics, where everything is recorded and scrutinized endlessly, and decisions might be made because of a 0.1% difference in some aspect of team productivity. The income these teams make...its astronomical compared to 10-20 yrs ago!! it changes the landscape completely. Athletes are probably healthier than ever!
However, I see where you're coming from; you are not shy about voicing the opinion that mainstream attitudes about health are terribly skewed (I watch you a lot, big fan) and I totally agree with and support your efforts to bring basic health issues back into the limelight. Most of us could, and maybe should be looking at how our lifestyle choices affect our quality and longevity of life rather than looking for a quick-fix, and this common-sense honest approach is too often ignored or shunned.
Thanks Bill, you are one amongst few, keep doin your thing!!

This was by far the best Club Random yet. I wasn't a particular fan of Stephen A's style before, although I did watch. But I am a big fan now. His honesty and forthrightness in this interview was so captivating. I got completely lost in the conversation these two were having. I wish Bill would be a little less stoned for conversations such as this, because he becomes a little incoherent at times. But otherwise a great discussion.

Bill Maher has the same 3 or 4 talking points: Vaccinations, refusal to marry, his on accomplishments, and obesity. Sometimes he likes to pepper in how music doesn't change the world.

36:55 Ali getting sent to Vietnam.

49:52 Maher's show is the only one in SAS's entire career that he doesn't want to be invited on because he was too scared.

This podcast was 1 of the best things Bill has done.
We know what the political show is about, but when ya look at some of the guests, especially with people who have different political ideologies, it's a great example of the importance of sitting down & having civil conversations, and trying to build upon the more commonalities that we all have, instead of only the differences that have drawn such toxicity within the country & keep us divided.

Enjoyed the show, particularly the point where Stephen A. talked about transparency regarding one's vote. When did that happen? I remember CLEARLY (yes, I'm THAT old) when my PARENTS didn't tell each other who they voted for.....and I won the lottery in being brought up by two rational, loving Humans that spent their entire lives together, happily. Let's get back there, keeping THEM guessing! Loose lips sink ships Mom always told me........When either side already know your vote, where the heck is their incentive to work for it? Furthermore, I think ALL of society should learn to keep a few cards close to their vests. Nothing stinks up a party like Religion and Politics......Little wonder we can't get along these days, everybody wears their position like a badge of honor! Discretion IS the better part of valor......These Men get paid to voice their opinions, we don't.
