He's in about five of my top ten comedies. A classic screen comedian.
You can tell how much Chevy was enjoying the interview. It was nice to see him involved in a normal interview that's main goal isn't to make him look like a bitter asshole. He really is still hilarious.
He makes himself look like that all on his own. This is not the fun-loving Chevy from Caddyshack... I'm 50 years old... have seen this guy in just about everything "from back then..." always loved him... this changed my entire opinion of him. He doesn't have nice in him and I'm not sure why he is even there... he doesn't appear to enjoy any of it unless it's discussing the good old days.

I got to meet Chevy working on the movie “The Last Laugh”. He shared some stories about college, Becker and Fagen 🎷 (from Steely Dan). Was really honored to share that time and conversation with him. Love the interview as well.

My 14 year old daughter watched the first Vacation with me. Im over 50 so I saw it too many times way back when. My point is, after leaving it alone for a long time & then watching it with someone who has never seen it……I was amazed at how the jokes still hold up. Lots of quick sarcastic one liners. One after another in every scene. What a blast 🥳🤣
These movies were made decades after I was born. I remember watching Vacation 1 and just laughing my buns off. Everyone was just perfect in it, but that scene with Chevy wearing his pants on his head, deliriously trudging through a desert was priceless LOL!

Bill has patience here. Hard to get a straight answer out of Chevy, but that's also his charm. Love these two riffing. Great guest. Technical glitches at the end, but I used to produce podcasts and that can definitely happen when you're dealing with over an hour of footage.
His wife said on the Chevy Chase Fly on the Wall interview that he is having some heart issues and it's affecting his memory, he can't remember the beginning of a story or the context. It looks like he covers it up with a random joke or answers what he's guessing the topic was

Actually Cary Grant was alive when Chevy called him a homo on the Tom Snyder show. Cary Grant sued him and it was settled out of court. Chevy later publicly apologized.

People like to make a big deal of the fact that he & Randolph Scott were roommates when their careers started but that was very common in the 30s for actors under contract to share a house in Hollywood. Jimmy Stewart & Henry Fonda did it. So did James Cagney & Pat O'Brien, and tons of others.

This is great. Chevy can be misunderstood, but seems authentic if you get his vibe.
It's a study in OCD to watch Bill navigate each of these shows by constantly fiddling with his drink or his smoke in between briefly chasing random tangents for about four minutes tops at a time. Club Random truly is a proper namesake for the show. Great rando background entertainment for the workday.
Burt Reynolds was such a fantastic actor and a wonderful human being. I remember I worked his birthday party is 75th birthday party in Jupiter Florida, he happens to be my neighbor. Wow what a great guy!

I was friends with his personal assistant who told me so many things about BERT that I never knew. I will never forget when he grabbed my arm and said hey I can tell you work out. He gave me a $300 tip

Chevy points out one of Bill's slightly annoying habits at 24:10 that other guests never did figure out how to prevent Bill from doing during a good story by a guest.
I absolutely love how he agreed and apologized immediately and recognized that. That really makes Bill Real. Chevy might have been the most effective guest for Bill to hear that comment, have it sink in, make it funny and possibly make it work later too.
Fyi, I noticed poor audio and video quality/syncing around the 57:00 mark when masturbation and ejaculation came up again. Lol. Maybe they can call RUclips and have him fix it or they can reload somehow. I think it's worth fixing because that last part's extremely funny too but annoying out of sync.

Christmas Vacation is one of my favorite movie of all time so I wanted to go crazy with enthusiasm and befriend him and have a chat. But I knew, no one is on the top of a mountain alone by mistake, so I simply smiled and nodded as I walked past by. Watched the movie later that afternoon making it a special christmas eve.., Champ Life.., k*

Norm MacDonald was the last time I cried when a celebrity died, when Chevy Chase passes I know I’m going to be an absolute wreck
Before his SNL days, I got to hang out with Norm in Chicago when he headlined our club for a week. He was such a gentleman, my favourite of all the comics who came through, along with Rich Jeni, whom I dated. Maher played the club and was horrible to literally every human being he interacted with. Total ass, and it was before he did more than standup. Miserable pos. But Norm, he was real and kind and that loss knocked me over for a moment. I just liked knowing he was still out there in the world.
