no you are not Tayler. The other cast members were more professional in their attitude and thought Even Jess when she was on the earlier version, looked straight you and talked about what certain tattoos can mean and her take. Here she doesn't seem to as often I really liked when she and others really gave positive and negative feedback, but again they would look at the camera. Maybe this crew will get there, maybe they are not getting good direction, wish them luck

I spent like three months designing my back tattoo when I was in college (art student problems lol). A few years later I look down at a coworker's calf muscle and see a familiar design. The best part is that I've been signing all of my artwork in Japanese since the 90's so, I worked that into the design. I asked her how her husband felt about her having another woman's name tattooed on her leg, and our other coworkers were dying laughing at her face. She made up some story about how she'd found it on google, but the absolute only picture of my tattoo at that point was on my mypace (yeah, I'm old) and we happened to be friends on there, so she clearly just stole it.

Copying other people for life is the least Rock n Roll thing anyone can do. Most people who get tattooed now are just posers who want to fit in and don't have an original thought in their empty heads.

I feel like these artists have been looking at good tattoos for so long they've forgotten what a BAD tattoo really is. These knockoffs aren't great but they aren't anywhere close to "some guys minivan I found on Craigslist" levels of bad.
I don't think they've forgotten what truly awful tattoos look like, but that doesn't stop these copies from being rubbish. They're hardly going to praise it just because it isn't fully bottom of the barrel work.

By nature yes, but in my opinion a tattoos bad-ness is judged by how quickly I'd want to off myself after getting it. These don't quite meet the criteria, except for the Batman one

They all kind of said “it’s not _that_ bad” for most of them. You can’t call them good though or even decent when they’re standing next to the originals so they had to go in on them

Yes, everyone prefers the original cast.
But I think part of the problem is they haven't been asked a lot of personal stuff yet. Instead of doing the stories, favorite artists, tattoo history etc., they're just asking for critiques of photos. Much prefer the segments where they dive into the artists themselves.

Maybe she meant that it’s not flattering on the body? Most geometric tattoos like that kind of flatten out the body and make it look one-dimensional, instead of going with the curves of the body

I think the new cast isnt really that bad. I just feel like the cut style is pretty bad. Its way to fast. It would be way better if just 3 - 5 people talk about one picture, but then way longer and not just 2 seconds. I mean we all see that the tattoos look shit, we dont need 10 people who just tell us this

If I want a tattoo the way I want it... I am paying what you ask... Just tattoo it.. 90%of the time it is because the 2nd artist KNOWS that they cannot compete and execute the artwork properly... Lotta Scratchers out there... Dope realism is done from a photo... Is that not copying another type of artist..? We pay... Just do your best. Do what we ask for.. It made me sad when some of them were bad mouthing Trash Polka. If you just have one small piece in that style it will probably look strange. If you look at the work of the German artists (Simone Pfaff & Volker Merschky) that created the Trash Polka style you'll see the pieces are usually covering a large portion of the body. They use exquisite realism along with a variety of other styles to create a cohesive story from multiple images. Unfortunately there are some people who try to copy their style without putting enough thought into the images they use (or the placement) and it ends up looking a hot mess. Their work really is modern art and a lot of people don't get it, which is fine, but don't judge the style by poorly executed copies.
The only one out the new cast that I personally find entertaining is the lemon shirt man I feel like he's got that kinda vibe that the old cast had.
I once got a random message from someone I met at a friend's house asking if they could have a photo of one of my tattoo because they wanted to copy it... I was like wtf no, no you cannot!

I went to one tattoo artist and showed him a picture of someone's tattoo and asked for something like it but obviously different enough so it's not copying and it's custom for me. Instead of drawing something for me, he just enlarged the picture as large as he could and tried to use that as the stencil.. like it was a whole thigh piece I wanted and in the picture but because the picture was of someone else's thigh, it pretty much only being a third if that of the actual size! I was mixed between finding it super funny that he actually just tried to use a picture of someone else's whole thigh and tattoo as a stencil on me and horrified that he just tried to give me someone else's tattoo without changing it at all. I ended up not getting it for obvious reasons and now use that story along side many others to warn people about that place and "artist".

I know a tattoo artist that doesn't care about his customers wanting the same tattoo that someone else has on Instagram, he will do it but will charge extra and he does a pretty smooth good job at recreating it

As a tattoo artist, this happens WAY TOO MUCH, people don't even know. I get that clients sometimes are not aware of the fact that it is straight up WRONG and unethical to copy somebody else's tattoo, but it' our job to educate them. I have refused to copy tattoos and have lost that client (well, some client) and the money from that session and I've had people who understood and went for something new. Just to be clear, it is different to be inspired, all tattoo concepts have pretty much been done before, there ain't nothing new out there, BUT it is NOT flattering to copy (flattering to the original artist) as some so called tattooers claim. I've had people who have copied my tattoos, one even went for a sponsored post on IG with stolen designs one of which was mine. It is also degrading when you are asked to copy. You supposedly came to me for what I do, if you ask me to copy then you make me feel as if i can't draw up something new and even better for you. We are not photocopy machines. Which is why 99,99% of the time, the copy is horrendous as you can see in this video. And that is because the copycat can't draw to save their life and want to make a quick buck out of other poeple's work and effort. Check Snake pit, sucky tattoos and tattoocopycats on Instagram and you'll know what I mean. Rant over :)
I tried to explain to a guy once that no reputable artist would tattoo a picture he found on Pinterest and that it was trash, but he said he didn’t care and now he’s walking around with that picture every nail salon has of a hand holding a rose. It’s so bad.
Well that's what you get when you decide you want somebody else's tattoo and have no intention of altering it to make it yours.

@@robertstallard7836 I don't really know about law in the us but in my country if this gets in front of a judge and you can prove it's your drawing you have a case. What I don't get is why you even need to get the law involved. It's about common sense, if you get an artist to draw you a tattoo, that is for you to have.... if your dumbass wants a tattoo go ask an artist to draw one for you. No love for exclusivity? I have.
@@mayrasampaio1276 The law is pretty much the same all over. If you want the design to be protected (i.e. you have a love for exclusivity) then you need to register it. In the US that costs just 35 bucks.
If people don't bother to do that then they have no grounds to whinge when the design gets copied.

@@mayrasampaio1276 I always say tattoos are in the eyes of the beholder. As in what you think is bad may be amazing to other people. It was mostly the portaits that blew it for me. That Gotham girl copy. Oml. Oh and the bird one. So bad. I feel like this is a great comparison of artists that actually love tattooing and have a passion for it, over the ones that just do it. That Zelda one could have been so great. It had so much better cause it was on the shoulder.

Some are really bad but the Mac Miller one wasn’t horrible, sure it was a downgrade from the OG one but IMO wasn’t the worse job anyone could do.
My ex got a sleeve done right? Well her sisters ex girlfriend wanted the same thing done, took pics, went to her uncle who said “yeah I can do that perfectly.” I can’t help but hope she got it done and it’s looks bad. I also feel like a lot of these copies, mainly in QUALITY, are bad because these people wanted it done quickly and cheaply. My tats (I have three) I’ll admit aren’t that elaborate, aren’t that complex. But I went in knowing I was going to spend a pretty penny to get the best quality I could get for what I wanted. So I saved up money for them, to the extent that I waited TWO YEARS between my first and second tattoo. Third one happened a couple months after my second lol

As a tattoo artist, I don't care if other artists copy my originals. When I tattoo a design on somebody, it's not my design anymore.

@@asm7069 Yes Art is Art, that was the point i was trying to make, i don't consider this a copy rather i see it as a tattoo artist using the same photo, now if the tattoo artist came up with the exact pose from his own mind and then another tattoo artist just seen the photo from the original tattoo then it might be a copy but i still wouldn't go that far.
I asked an artist if I could get a version of there tattoo done and they actually did a style swap with the artist I had doing mine.
It was awesome seeing what each one created!

I gave my artist a picture of one that I liked and he took it and changed it so much you can’t even tell there was a reference picture. It looks so much better than what I gave him.

I would say dont copy others tattooes, yeah, but if it is from some TV show and you fall in love with that concept and you love the meaning of it, just do it. Just have meaning to your tattoo ❤️

I'm sort of mixed on the copying thing. I think it's okay if getting the copy has the same sort of sentimental significance and value that getting an original often has. Like if your Dad died and you always loved his tattoo and copying it is a way of honoring your Dad. Ideally you'd get it done by the same artist. Definitely it should be as good as the original.

I’m sorry but anyone who gets a tattoo remotely close to an original gets every bad thing coming to them in regards to the tattoo. Be original.
Unless the original has been copyrighted then ANYONE can use it at any time. If people don't bother to protect their creation then that's their look out.
