The heroes on the first game I always loved. Because it really makes you feel how a clone would feel of fucking dooku just showed up in the battle and started slaughtering clones
On Battlefront 2 I remember having my own Rambo experience playing a stormtrooper on Endor, which is almost unwinnable if you're playing the empire. No matter how many rebels you kill, more and more Ewoks keep showing up as reinforcements But I was the last empire soldier. One lone stormtrooper vs the remaining rebels and infinite Ewoks. One by one I had to hunt down the last of the rebel scum, blasting through the neverending hordes of Ewoks in order to find them That number went down from 50, to 30, to 15, to 5, then down to 3, and finally 1. One last rebel to find. I was barely escaping with my life every time I was ambushed by another horde. Always desperate to find medical and ammo droids. In constant fear that this time could be the time I die and it's game over, another defeat for the Empire. But no, I couldn't let that happen. I've come too far! I've never made it this far on Endor as the Empire! I had to win this round! Where was that rebel scum?! But how could I find him? The Endor map is huge! Searching and searching but all I come across are trees, caves, campsites, ponds and attacking Ewoks. I didn't know this before but that was also the day I discovered that after a certain number of kills, your blaster gets upgraded. I just killed my umpteenth Ewok and suddenly my blaster changed! It now fired in burst mode like Boba Fetts blaster instead of automatic mode and now fired these glowing purple shots instead of the typical red! My little kid mind was blown! I had to pause the game just to properly freak out and process my new upgrade "Come at me you little Ewoks!!!" BAM! BAM! BAM! My new blaster was awesome! I was now plowing through those hordes! I felt unstoppable! Even so though I still needed to be careful! I REALLY couldn't lose now! With the game going on this long sometimes I would just flat out run out of ammo. That didn't matter to the Ewoks though. What to do?! I made the best use I could out of my detonators and would have no choice to run as they chased after me! I'm on low HP and I'm surrounded by Ewoks! Countless bloodbaths I would just narrowly escape! I had to keep searching for medical and ammo droids to keep going "WHERE IS THAT REBEL!?!" Another tree, another cave, another Ewok. But there's no stopping the lone Stormtrooper. I will not stop. I will not be killed. And I will win this match. On with the search Then as I was amongst the trees fending off against the stones and the spears of the Ewoks, the most marvelous thing happened. A blaster bolt was shot in my direction! I turned around and there he was! The Last Rebel! Off in the distance! That beautiful walking corpse firing his puny blaster at me! A smirk struck my face like an excited rabid animal. "Rebel Scum!" I ran in his direction, ignoring the blaster shots hitting me and the spears being hurled at me by the Ewoks. HP dropping fast! No matter! All I need is two shots! Two shots is all I need to take him out! I won't survive for much longer I have to fire now! I've gotten close enough to make sure I won't miss! I raise my blaster to pop off two shots. I fire them, they hit, the rebel dies and suddenly the game freezes for a micro second. VICTORY That glorious, glorious blue victory text flashes across my screen! I had just beaten Endor as the Empire! I had never done that before and quite frankly didn't think it was possible. But I just did it! Me! Little kid me ran out of my room with the PSP in my hand holding it up in celebration to tell my brothers all about it! So yeah, good memories
Correction you could kill them with blaster fire and grenades however you will not have any ammo left after you do and you'll be refilling for the 5th time
This is my favorite memory I have of the game, using rockets and grenades to blast the heroes off the edge on the Bespin sky city map. It was so hilarious to me and I would play by myself just to do it, it was terrifying when they ran at you. I was young enough that I couldn’t figure out how to turn them on and off, but I must’ve accidentally turned them off at some point because they stopped showing up in the games and I couldn’t figure out why lmao
you can kill heroes with heavier vehicle blasters it just takes A LOT and they do respawn if memory serves. you're generally better off just going for other targets and just avoiding them as best as possible. honestly one of my bigger gripes about bf2 is that the ai never uses heroes. even in galactic conquest if the ai uses the hero bonus it simply won't make use of it in the battle. the original having that threat of ai heroes is one of the things i prefer about the original game
That was actually one of my favorite parts, running around as a jetpack trooper terrified of invincible Vader chasing me as I keep knocking him off the map and trying to play the objective
You can kill them with blaster fire too but it takes a long time and they'll deflect most of it. I used to do it with the clone jet trooper by using the jetpack to jump back and forward over their heads to avoid their attacks whilst shooting them. It's completely pointless though lol.
i remember my first battlefront 1 match as a kid and it was on tatooine. i witnessed both the droid and clone armies focusing on one specific area so i went over there. i witnessed both entire opposing armies focused specifically on an obi-wan and a dooku and they were fighting back to back like it was the colosseum scene. they wiped both armies out.
Having them as invincible enemies in original BF was thrilling, felt great managing to find a way to eliminate them, and at the same time the way they were dreaded by players felt somehow near to a "actual star wars soldier" experience facing a force user armed with lightsaber on a battlefield.
nah bro. heroes MAKE a mess in battlefront. personally i love it because it really felt like the shows and comics. you, a normal soldier, see a jedi or sith flying through the battlefield mowing down your comrades and you panic, do you start shooting with the hopes you land the lucky shot the puts him down but if not all youve done is alerted him to your position? or do you hide behide some boxes or a cliff or a door frame and pray he force sprints by you too fast to notice your frail body? and if you are the jedi you feel nearly invincible as you turn the battlefield into a mass grave of torsos and lower bodies, deflecting shots and using the force to aid you or destroy your ranged foes. perfect hero units
I remember fighting Mace Windu on Tatooine during the conquest, I had a vehicle and was just shooting the ground at his feet because the blast was enough to knock him down, keeping him away from the droids enough to win. If you shot directly at them with any blaster or vehicle blaster they just deflect it.
I always heard that they technically can die from damage, they just have insanely bloated health pools so it's a pain to do any way other than OHK cheese.
I remember when BF2 came out, I was so excited for it, I still remember my grandfather coming to visit, he had bought me a copy for the PS2. It was noon and I finished at night, it was either in the weekends or on holiday, I distinctly remember playing as Mace Windu and getting my mind blown as a little boy.
Note: The Sarlacc Pit can also kill the heroes. There is a hill at the top of Dune Sea where Tuskans usually spawn. If you use grenades or rockets you can perfectly knock a hero off his feet to roll down the hill at max speed so they fall into the pit. Otherwise you can hope to walk next to the arms and try not to get grabbed
Some of my best Battlefront memories come from the Hero AI. One is the pride I felt on Bespin slowly knocking Dooku to the edge of the with an AA gun, and blasting him off The other was me playing in a starfight, the Delta iirc, on Kashyyyk, final enemy command post, they're holed up in there. Mace Windu starts booking it across the bridge, and behind him comes dozens of clone troopers, a sea of armor clad men swamping that bridge as I rained down fire upon the droid frontlines, and I got to watch them surge through and fight to the death. It was glorious.
i remember i used to play split screen battefront on the ps2 with my cousin and one day while playing on Bespin platforms, i got in an X-Wing and Kamakazied Luke skywalker off of the map and it left us in tears belly up laughing. thank you for uploading this.
Core memory: My buddy and I in his room, playing battlefront split screen. He’s turned his stereo up to nearly max volume. The whole floor is shaking with Smells Like Teen Spirit by Nirvana. We are fighting for our lives on one of the bridges of Bespin, Platforms. Using everything we have to try and knock Windu off the map. My heart was full and we were happy.
I remember actually killing Mace Windu on the Cloud City map. I got him pinned in a corner as a super battle droid, firing infinitely reloading wrist rockets as I stood next to an ammo droid. You can imagine my surprise when after bouncing him around for minutes that he eventually didn't get back up.
This was a weird thing especially after playing Battlefront 2 a lot. I guess we'll experience this again with the collection being a re-release so we still can't play as heroes in the original and just have to deal with their overpowered bulllcrap as a trooper haha😂
That's the fun of Heroes. Made you feel like a soldier going up against a Jedi/Sith, it was a very unique feeling. Plus, it was fun spending 5 minutes pushing them off the map to try kill them. Sometimes I'd spend the entire fight just doing that.
Me and my buddy have a core memory together: on one of the Tatooine maps, Vader was on the heels of my friend, who turned around only to see Vader absolutely splattered and killed by a computer npc on a speeder bike. It was one of those blink and you’ll miss it moments. We were crying laughing
I remember the days a as a kid, playing through a bunch of levels with no issues and hearing something "Be careful, a hero has joined the battle on the enemy side" and not thinking much of it until Luke showed up and started wrecking my shit. I unloaded every shot I had into him while running away and when that failed tossed a grenade, saw hi ragdoll and thought "Finally got him!" Then saw him stand up and keep coming. Pants darkening experience
I remember once I was a kid on the ice caves map. Vader was stuck in the middle of the area and all the NPCs were in the turrets stun locking him. We shot him for like 10 minutes until he died
The best part about all that, is thats how it was in the original back in 2003. I spent an hour blasting Dooku one time cause I got him stuck and he never died. Fast forward to when I was playing conquest and the enemy had vader, I accidently killed him with the speeder. It was nuts to learn all this.
I remember the first time I discovered that you actually could kill heroes. It was on the Naboo map, and I was on one of the separatist tanks, and I shot Vader off of a ledge, it was so surprising since heroes at the time were just these invincible oneshotting monsters that you had to just run away from😅

I remember I killed Windu on Geonosis when he was underneath one of the rocket ships in the back of the map and i blew it up. At the time I was astonished, I didnt even know heroes could be killed back then.
You haven't played the OG Battlefront if you never stepped on Luke in an AT-ST before.
The nostalgia of shooting Vader with a hijacked AT-AT thinking: WHY WON'T YOU DIE?!?!?!
If only the classic battlefront 3 came out :(
it was very scary to meet Vader for the first time when I was 9 years old. I didn't even know who is it. But those breathing sounds and black suit scared the crap out of me
One of the things i love in OG Battlefront are the NPCs spinning when they fall or launched after throwing a thermal detonator, it's so funny to watch them spin like beyblades
Watching Dooku go pinball spinning to his death is one of the funniest thing I've seen in a while 😂
lmao watching Count Dooku fall off the Bespin Platforms from grenade/rocket fire is hillarious asf.
Those heroes were terrifying. Being on rebels side on hoth was a nightmare as you could hear dark Vader breathing in the tunnels as he chased you down, super scary. Loved playing this with my dad
The heroes on the first game I always loved.
Because it really makes you feel how a clone would feel of fucking dooku just showed up in the battle and started slaughtering clones
I remember as a kid, i spent an entire map shooting at mace windu's feet in a droid tank and he eventually faded away, but then shortly respawned
On Battlefront 2 I remember having my own Rambo experience playing a stormtrooper on Endor, which is almost unwinnable if you're playing the empire. No matter how many rebels you kill, more and more Ewoks keep showing up as reinforcements
But I was the last empire soldier. One lone stormtrooper vs the remaining rebels and infinite Ewoks. One by one I had to hunt down the last of the rebel scum, blasting through the neverending hordes of Ewoks in order to find them
That number went down from 50, to 30, to 15, to 5, then down to 3, and finally 1.
I had to pause the game just to properly freak out and process my new upgrade
"Come at me you little Ewoks!!!"
BAM!
BAM!
I had to keep searching for medical and ammo droids to keep going
"WHERE IS THAT REBEL!?!"
Another tree, another cave, another Ewok. But there's no stopping the lone Stormtrooper. I will not stop. I will not be killed. And I will win this match. On with the search
Then as I was amongst the trees fending off against the stones and the spears of the Ewoks, the most marvelous thing happened.
A blaster bolt was shot in my direction!
I turned around and there he was! The Last Rebel! Off in the distance! That beautiful walking corpse firing his puny blaster at me!
A smirk struck my face like an excited rabid animal.
"Rebel Scum!"
I ran in his direction, ignoring the blaster shots hitting me and the spears being hurled at me by the Ewoks.
VICTORY
That glorious, glorious blue victory text flashes across my screen!
I had just beaten Endor as the Empire! I had never done that before and quite frankly didn't think it was possible. But I just did it! Me!
Little kid me ran out of my room with the PSP in my hand holding it up in celebration to tell my brothers all about it!
So yeah, good memories
Correction you could kill them with blaster fire and grenades however you will not have any ammo left after you do and you'll be refilling for the 5th time
The fact that neither Bespin nor Rhen Var show up in Battlefront 2 (2005) is a damned shame.
They did release an update for that game where you could download a bf1 map pack and play maps from the first game.
It was added with dlc on xbox live back in the day
Dookoo spinning of the cliff sends me
This is my favorite memory I have of the game, using rockets and grenades to blast the heroes off the edge on the Bespin sky city map.
Hell no having heroes on is the fun! I love being terrified of them or being hyped to see a friendly hero leading the charge at the enemy.
you could also lure heros out of bounds and get them killed by the timer. i mostly remember doing that on tatooine
Yeah 👍
Cloud city on battlefront 1 with hero’s on was game changer
I remember fighting Mace Windu on Tatooine during the conquest, I had a vehicle and was just shooting the ground at his feet because the blast was enough to knock him down, keeping him away from the droids enough to win.
If you shot directly at them with any blaster or vehicle blaster they just deflect it.
I managed to kill one hero once using conventional means on Rhen van by using everything the ATTE had and blasting the hero against a wall
God this brings back so many memories.
I can't believe it took me this long to know about this feature.
How could have I missed something so important after all of these years?
Ah yes, the pure running away screaming vibe when seeing the heros comes raging back.
One is the pride I felt on Bespin slowly knocking Dooku to the edge of the with an AA gun, and blasting him off
The other was me playing in a starfight, the Delta iirc, on Kashyyyk, final enemy command post, they're holed up in there.
Mace Windu starts booking it across the bridge, and behind him comes dozens of clone troopers, a sea of armor clad men swamping that bridge as I rained down fire upon the droid frontlines, and I got to watch them surge through and fight to the death. It was glorious.
I once saw Vader get snatched up by the Sarlack Pit on Tatooine
i remember i used to play split screen battefront on the ps2 with my cousin and one day while playing on Bespin platforms, i got in an X-Wing and Kamakazied Luke skywalker off of the map and it left us in tears belly up laughing. thank you for uploading this.
If you heard that lightsaber in the first game, you already knew it was over.😂😂
I remember actually killing Mace Windu on the Cloud City map.
I remember leading heroes out into the Cloud City courtyard just to have them block blaster fire from all directions 😂
That's the fun of Heroes. Made you feel like a soldier going up against a Jedi/Sith, it was a very unique feeling.
Plus, it was fun spending 5 minutes pushing them off the map to try kill them. Sometimes I'd spend the entire fight just doing that.
Dude having DarthVader run you down on hoth was a core memory
I missed them. I missed throwing darth Vader into the Sarlac pit
Me and my buddy have a core memory together: on one of the Tatooine maps, Vader was on the heels of my friend, who turned around only to see Vader absolutely splattered and killed by a computer npc on a speeder bike. It was one of those blink and you’ll miss it moments. We were crying laughing
I remember when I first killed a hero at the platforms. I was playing with a friend and we both lost our minds.
Wow the memories. I remember when i was finally able to push mace windu off the map of the cloud city with a turret.
I remember the days a as a kid, playing through a bunch of levels with no issues and hearing something "Be careful, a hero has joined the battle on the enemy side" and not thinking much of it until Luke showed up and started wrecking my shit. I unloaded every shot I had into him while running away and when that failed tossed a grenade, saw hi ragdoll and thought "Finally got him!"
Then saw him stand up and keep coming.
The original battlefront really is immersive. They even included the lore accurate plot armour for the main characters.
I love the hero’s and villains it’s horrifying when they come after you lol
I remember the first time I discovered that you actually could kill heroes.
It was on the Naboo map, and I was on one of the separatist tanks, and I shot Vader off of a ledge, it was so surprising since heroes at the time were just these invincible oneshotting monsters that you had to just run away from😅
Heroes being on was great. It’s like “holy shit get out of there death is approaching “
Bring these games back
