Phil, your superpower never ceases to amaze me. I've watched hundreds of reaction videos (and maybe even channels), and every video you do, you always pick up on stuff no one has ever talked about. You have a crazy gifted ear
Thank you! I wish I had superpowers
@@PhilZero Superpowers come in all forms. The Warning's superpower is singing Live. Yours is the ability to deconstruct a song and describe in layman terms what is going on. That's a pretty good superpower to have for a reaction channel.
x2
@@PhilZeroyou do!
Truth.
We’re 13 minutes in and Phil still hasn’t made it past the 1st verse. 😝😝 I love this guy!
He turned a 3 minute song into a 20 minute song, love it!😊👍
These young women are superstars already in my book.
Yes,and Legends and Icons also in my book.
Dany’s guitar is a Fender Strat Baritone.
Oh that makes a lot of sense. Didn’t even think of this 🤘
@@PhilZero and i seem to remember Dany saying that the strings she was using were 14's (as opposed to her usual .... 10's?)
Don’t sleep on that studio version from Pal Norte. The live footage and the way they shot it is really cool. Plus I think it’s the first time they’ve had pyrotechnics.
Speaking of pyro,Phil's demo at the beginning was the slow ending of the studio version of Kiss' "Black Diamond" 😄
Plus the fact that it had been released right before the solar eclipse in America… every single piece about that song & video is so f@&€ cool!
Excellent video
True. The official video is both a must see and must listen for any fan of The Warning or anyone looking to get into the band. It's amazing to hear the range and growth of their sound from album to album.
There's an MTV push version which is really cool also. To my untrained ears the sound is better on that one that on the Jimmy Kimmel version. All good though
Silence in the room, my favorite weekly show has begun, Phil reacting to DPA.
As a non-musician who likes listening to music - I really appreciate your in-depth analysis of the composition of music. Pause when you want, analyze away, I'm here for it - thank you for the insight.
Yup. Same here.
Absolutely.
Agreed, nerd away, Phil. That's why we're here.
The Jimmy Kimmel sound balance was super anemic compared to other versions.
glad to see it's not just me
Because Kimmel is a douchebag
I notice that too. Their video uploads sounded much better than the live TV performance of the same song, Sick.
Specially the drums. They are so thin and low in the mix. I bet you whoever mixed the audio was a guitar player 😅
@@tatsuono9823 This.
The bass and Ale's vocals were also low in the mix. I don't think they are used to mixing for a band like The Warning where everyone has major contributions to the song musically and vocally.
your ears are going to be in a science museum
Agreed. After seeing hundreds of reactions, Phil still somehow picks up on things that have never been talked about.
The Warning always play for what the *song* needs, not for their egos.💯💯👍👍
Ultimately The Warning play in "Service of the Song." They do not need flashy solos because the song does not need it. I love that about these ladies! There is no one better than the other and they all share in the song. This is why I love this group, no egos just performance and energy and they do both exceedingly well!
I've only recently watched some of their older vlogs about the Queen of the Murder Scene album and that has been a repeated theme when they talk about the how and why of their songs. Service the song vs unnecessary complexity. Good call.
Yeah exactly. And that sounds easy, but it isn't easy to really listen deeply to a song that hasn't been written yet! They do that very well indeed.
Rock band 4 has 2 of their songs on it.(I believe).
And their album Queen of the Murder Scene should be a Broadway movie/show.
Free Falling comes with Rock Band IV. Survive is downloadable.
_Pau_ should be on Broadway 😉
You beat me to it, I was going to say that.😁
ROCK GUITARIST HERE ... GUILTY AS CHARGED !!! I HAVE TO CONSCIOUSLY TELL MYSELF TO PLAY LESS NOTES ( LESS IS MORE CONCEPT) !!!
😂 SAME, BROTHER. SAME
Yup, it's a battle most rock guitarist never quit fighting!
As classical music conductors often tell the orchestra: "Just play the ink!" 🎼 :)
I think a lot of people mix up "hard to play" and "hard to write." The Warning's stuff isn't particularly challenging to play (but getting three people who can actually sing that well together is a whole 'nother thing), but it is compositionally impressive. The other thing that makes them easier and arguably more fun to listen to than a lot of metal is that every part of the song (the vocals, the drums, the guitar, an the bass) are all "singable." A lot of their parts in a lot of their songs are catchy because of this, which is cool.
🎯💯⚡⚡⚡
Well said.
DANY HAS REALLY "EVOLVED" INTO A WORLD CLASS VOCALIST/PERFORMER, TOP TIER STAGE PRESENCE !!! LUV THESE GIRLS !!!
She always gives "More".
@@MattS-p8h And this is Sick!
ROCKSoul.
Dany's guitar is a baritone fender drop in A as the bass
No doubt Elizabeth Zharoff's brother from another mother. I think that most reactors with musical knowledge are so overwhelmed by their harmonies, playing ability and stage presence that they miss their writing ability. I think that the sisters are the best writers on the planet right now and thank you for emphasizing how good it is.
Thank you! Oh I’m sure I miss lots in my reactions too haha. Their stage presence is quite mesmerizing
I've been waiting for your next The Warning reaction. Let's go!
🔥⚡️🤘⚡️🌞⚡️🤘⚡️🔥
Same, just hit play and I already know it's going to be fun.
Fun fact# Dany uses a Fender Strat Baritone Guitar for this song
Check out six feet deep .. it is a banger. They just dropped it.
Dany is using a baritone Fender here!
Phil you are easily the best Warning reactor on RUclips. I always learn something!
When Marvel released their game Midnight Sun they used the version of Enter Sandman The Warning did for the Blacklist album with Alessia Cara. I believe that was at Metallica's suggestion when they were asked as Metallica has the rights to the song.
Yes. I was going to post a link to the game's announcement trailer, but since I'm slow on the draw, I'll post it here for anyone who's interested: ruclips.net/video/Ripgh8W2PMg/видео.htmlsi=UGxLWSdOUITjXvwi
@@charlielightfoot7006 OMG !! That was awesome !! 🎸🎵🎤
The same cover also surprised me as the end credits rolled on the last episode of The Imperfects over on Netflix.
I love how you finally noticed the vocals on a different cadence from the music. They have a couple dozen more songs like that.
Dany's Fender Baritone Guitar dropped From "B" to "A" Ale's Inferno Bass is drop-tuned from "B" Down to "A" on The (Both Guitars Top Strings). The Tecate Pa'l Norte festival live video & Studio Audio. Is By far the best Version to React to. This version ok mixing and The Audio "Tecate Pa'l Norte" is much Better IMOP.... The Warning 🔥 🔥 🔥 are always Excellent. And your reaction is very good as well.
Every once in a while, all the planets are in line to form the perfect band. These girls are in perfect harmony, complimenting each other like Rush but MUCH more fun to watch.
Thanks for the nerdy reaction, Phil. They are always welcome! BTW, this song is actually already in the new Pepsi Black commercial 😂
Oh wow. yesssss good for them! GET THAT PEPSI MONEY, LADIES
Another spectacular analysis of the music of The Warning.
I love it.
The studio version over live is amazing
to be fair, the mix really did them dirty here :/
I don’t think you can do anything different with the sound in a small studio ..you can’t be in E standard there .Just my take but I still love it. ..🤘
I would say: studio version over Kimmel live.
@@phlorianwhich is interesting here because that Orange can absolutely do the fuzzy doom thing on the record. I can’t tell if she has her normal kemper modeler or not, but I would have ditched it and just used the amp here.
The studio audio with the live performance is a work of art! It lets the entire team shine! I'm pretty disappointed he went with the Kimmel performance.Pau doesn't even have her entire kit. 😢
Get Nerdy, Stay Nerdy, we're here for it
„Warning!⚠️ The music you are about to hear is intentionally magical!“
We need reaction to the complete album!
Lesssgo wawas!
Why so shy? Complete Teatro Metropolitan. ;) It`s more than just one album. :)
The heavy sound comes from Dany playing a custom shop Fender Strat baritone guitar, with a longer neck, more space between frets, which let's her use much thicker strings, which lets her tune much lower, plus she tuned it down even further to drop A, and Ale is also switching bass to tune down to drop A.
Did you catch her little smile a few notes into the performance? Like she was enjoying the effects of this instrument/tuning. 🔥
The Warning ladies are master, higher-level, near-genius songwriters and arrangers, because all three were trained in theory and composition at Boston's world-renowned, prestigious Berklee College of Music. Yep, it's true! They KNOW how music works and deeply understand melodic and harmonic movement.
The first verse is triplets as well, with sort of a swing cadence
You have a way of reacting to a song like no other channel. Absolutely love how you do that. You basically deconstruct the song and though you have nerdy parts, which I don't mind, you keep it so the average layman can understand. Perfection.
You still need to react to the Studio Version. I don't want to give anything away. I love the live version, but just wait until you watch the studio version - the visuals were recorded live at the festival and the studio version layered on top.
On top of that, check out their new album, "Keep Me Fed" that just dropped on June 28. Absolutely amazing. They already released a video for "Six Feet Deep" which you also need to react to.
When I started watching this reaction, it had 13 likes. As I finish this comment, it's already up to 118.
Quote { Phil Zero } " I don't think a lot of people realize how genius this is." Yes ... thank you !!!
TRUTH
The Warning has incredible musical education bagage what turns the songs complex and same time simple. The TW music has SUBSTANCE.
*_"Music is an art and not science"_* Exactly! I was debating a guy who claimed that it was a *Fact* that _Band Maid_ was technically superior to _The Warning._ He could not understand that his assertion was just an opinion and not a fact.
Bandmaid shreds, no doubt about it. So I guess you can say they’re “more technical” in that sense. TW puts together their songs with a different kind of technicality. BM does it by adding more. TW does it by adding less. Neither band can do what the other band does, and that’s the beauty of it. Enjoy both 🤘
I love and respect Band-Maid too, but if you listen to SOME of their fan base, they actually think BM is better than The Beatles, because their drummer does things Ringo didn't do, or the bassist does things McCartney didn't do. Music doesn't work like that and it's not a competition.
@@PhilZero there are few channels that I subscribe to but yours is one of those because you help us laymen better understand the music we love. Thanks.
@@PhilZero And can you imagine what they can do with a collaboration? OMG.
@@krisculin9679They do have a collaboration song. It will be in BandMaid's new album this summer.
I would love to have you as a music teacher, Phil.
I love your analysis because you are both a musician and singer. You don't make vacuous comments like many other reactors. This is Dany's most sultry vocals styling!
Pepsi México made a commercial with The Warning in it, and Automatic Sun is heavily featured.
Dany uses a Baritone Guitar for some song of the album
The other song of the presentation was Sick, that reached #8 in the charters
This was more RAW than normal, sounds like no backing tracks, AWESOME :) , Dani playing her new Fender Baritone. Complete Masterpiece of a Breakdown Phil!! 🤘🤘🤘
great reaction, you described all the work and skill of Dany's voice
It is always a treat hearing your thoughts about my favorite band. Thanks for your excellent Warning coverage Phil. This new album is fire! 🔥⚡⚡⚡
Great dissection Phil. Love you breakdowns.
You're a great explainer for these technical processes. I actually gained more appreciation for the art and artists.
Me encanta tus reacciones y analisis de los temas me gutaria que reaccionaras mas seguido a the warning realmente disfruto y aprendo de tus analisis.
Gracias y saludos desde Mexico
"How do I explain this without sounding nerdy?"
Too late, but that's what we love about you!
Watching Phil analyze The Warning is my favourite thing now.
You can literally see how all the cogs in there are spinning at maximum warp and the joy when he figures something out.
😂 EXACTLY! I always imagine the gears in his brain spinning at like a million rpm 😂
This band needs to take over the world.
Aaarrgghh I've always looveeed your reaction! I've been waiting for your automatic sun reaction :D Thanks for the fun video!!
Thank YOU for hanging out here! 💜🤘
I'm not a musician - can't play any instrument - but hearing you point out details is very educational even for someone like me.
The way you break down songs is top notch!
Damn, every time I watch one of your videos, I love the song you’re analyzing more. And I love this part at 11:07 where you’re talking about the composition. Sometimes I get the feeling The Warning is putting in the intricate work you’d expect with a big orchestra, but with just three instruments and three voices. And then I idly wonder what they’d’ve done with the resources of a 70s prog-rock band like Kansas or Genesis…and I get very afraid.
17:47 That I haven’t heard yet, but their cover of “Enter Sandman” (the one a few years ago for the Blacklist album, not the one they did in their early teens that went viral) was used in a game trailer: ruclips.net/video/Ripgh8W2PMg/видео.html
I think that's one of the craziest things about The Warning: Absolutely no ego. DPA are all absolutely masters of their instruments - and Dany is capable of shredding when she wants to - but they are all completely committed to what the *song* needs. Nothing gets added, nothing gets taken away.
I love your breakdowns of music. I always come out with a better *objective* appreciation for the music that I already loved subjectively. Thank you, sir :)
Listen to post-hardcore genre and you will hear load of low tones and distortion and "automatic sun" uses elements of this style on it. I don't know if was intention of girls or of the producer.
Glad you talked about the triplet vocals that Dany throws in. Especially in the bass bridge part where she sings "an unavoidable headache," it changes the cadence of the song in an interesting way. After the bass interlude, fuzz guitar riff comes back by itself, and then comes that cool drum drop just before the beat. Like you said, it's a lot more complex than it might appear. Awesome analysis as always - can't get enough of these deep dives! 🤘
Dany is using a baritone guitar tuned down to A.
Phil you’re the best analyst out there for song structure and arrangements, learned a lot about music from your channel, thank you. You’re correct The Warning are special.
Love your videos. As someone who isn't remotely musical, I always feel like I'm learning something.
This song is actually used in a pepsi commercial that they appeared in
Phil you are always informative and entertaining. I find the combination of strong rhythm with floating female vocals to be hypnotic. Okyten's Altay and Paradise Lost are great examples of that, too. The layered guitar sound in Automatic Sun in the chorus is glorious.
These girls are so damn charming if you've ever seen them interviewed. I think the whole world must be in love with them. Hopefully the business never changes them.
Another GREAT reaction dude!!!!! ROCK ON!!! 💯🤘🤘🤘
Al momento la mejor reacción que he visto sobre the warning, gracias
Best Band On Planet Earth Right Now : The Warning 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥So refreshing , so talented, so different, so A M A Z I N G , Nothing but L O V E for this band 💕💕💕💕💕💕
Phil my dude. You should check out Plush. They opened for The Warning on some of their US tour last year and they are awesome
Excellent as always! I could listen to you nerd out all day.
I appreciate your explanation of how brilliant this song is - I am not a music guy other than "I love The Warning". Also, they actually do have music in a video game, Marvel's Midnight Suns. You can find the trailer on YT. It's their 'Enter Sandman' cover/rebuild. I feel that it won't take long for some of their originals to be used in a game and movie, however.
Even if you don’t react to it, you should watch the Tecate P’al Norte version with studio sound over the live video. Apparently there was too much sound from other stages at the festival bleeding over to The Warning’s stage so they had trouble making a completely live video with good sound-hence the studio sound over video production. It’s cool to see, though! Massive crowd with drone-shot video; pyro! And a cool shot of Dany playing those notes above the nut (easier to do with a guitar that has all the tuning pegs on the same side of the headstock (like that Fender Baritone Strat she’s playing).
I’m guessing that others have suggested it-but react to HELL YOU CALL A DREAM Live at Pepsi Center if you want to see what she can do with her voice (F5, I believe!)
Great reaction, as always
DPA have a excellent understanding how important balance of sound/silence is in a composition.
Great breakdown, as usual!
Im sure youre getting tired of hearing it, but that was just awesome! Thanks Phil! I always look forward to seeing your amazing breakdowns!
Never tired of hearing that. Thanks Phil, from another Phil 🤠💜🤘
I love learning more about music through you and The Warning, thank you so much!!!!!
Hope to see you in Vancouver. What a show that will be!
KORN WOULD OFTEN TAKE THEIR 7 STRING GUITARS DOWN (DROP TUNE ) FROM B TO A .... FUN FACT !
Love your analysis! I'm an old metal-head from the 80's and appreciate your explanations! To me, The Warning is THE premier metal band of the century as far as I am concerned.
Thank you, Sensei. I already love this song. You have just made this song even more impressive! You did it again and make me love the song even more. Watch the studio version over their live performance footage in front of a large crowd at the Tecate Pa’l Norte and be blown away again.
🤘🤘🤘✔️✔️😎❤️
Yo también lo pienso the warning no deja nunca nada al azar❤❤❤❤❤
Your so good on realizing how good the warning are. I like the breakdown you understand there style so good!🤙🏽🤘🏽
What I like about the Warning is they sound fresh even when bringing in various classic rock styles. Dany's vocals are next level, she has really become quite the versatile rock vocalist.
Aloha Phil, I was wondering what song would be on your list! Kudos!
The newest songs are Six Feet Deep, Apologize, Escapism, Satisfied, Sharks, and Consume. They came out on the 28th. The other songs on that album (Keep Me Fed) were released earlier.
I Love this band! The Warning!!!!
Another excellent breakdown my dude. You have very quickly developed a reputation of a must see reactor. I always get equal parts enjoyment and education from you, always good vibes. I also agree with you that they always seem to write with intent, their quality is not accidental.
I chuckled when you mentioned thinking that they put equal, if not more, effort into the verses as I remember in one of the recent interviews (Allison Hagendorff maybe?) where Pau was talking about one song (Sharks?) and how when they got the song working they wrote the chorus in less than 30 seconds.
BTW, can I hire you to explain to me why I love the chorus' in Consume and Escapism so much? (my lack of musical knowledge is showing)
You are the COOLEST Nerd I've ever seen 😅
You should definitely check out Six Feet Deep and Satisfied next!!
With all the videos out there, especially TW reaction videos, it says something when you can rack up 5300+ views and 300+ comments in 4 hours for a channel with only 6.62K subscribers. I can only surmise that TWA really loves this channel. I know I do.
You definitely need to check out the studio version over live performance. Drop A
Amazing
Phil you're one of my 5 best reactors EVER!
🤘⚡️🤘⚡️🤘⚡️
Absolutely EPIC live performance!!
Dany is using a Fender strat baritone guitar tuned in drop A!
Viva The Warning!! ⚡⚡⚡
Phil you’re one of the best reactors out there. Your insight and musicianship is second to none, TWA salutes you and thank you for your deep dive into the next huge thing in Rock. They just announced that they will be performing on the main stage at the MTV VMA’s this year. Last year they were on a second stage, things are heading up for these talented women
"The Warning is so technical, but in their own way". And that relates to just about every element, not just the instrumental and vocal. Even what appears to be a simple lyric, is often full of tricks, multi meanings and irony. The Shakespeares of rock.
You are back at it again.
Your new favorite song
And "automatic sun" were just random words
Apart from being a great band, they also write amazing lyrics which really tell a story. Combined with great music writing and you have really great songs. Nice.
Such a banger! They are a Studio Quality Live Band, and they proved it here! I would still check out the Tecate version. It's a visual masterpiece! Make sure to turn it up to 11, and rip the knob off. 🤘🌞🤘
