Only good theory is that she is howland reeds wife.
Meera is introduced to bran first as the lady of house reed as the first born, a hint that she might be the heir of howland before jojen. (Dorne is the only part of the seven kingdoms that we know doesn't practice male preference primogeniture)
The reed children have heard the story of the tourney at haren hall from howland, it sounds very much like a how I met your mother story.
And then house dayne seem to have a lot of respect for ned (they definitely wouldn't if he was responsible for arthur and asharas death.
Perhaps howland took her North. (Might explain why howland was able to save ned from arthur). The book never says howland killed arthur, only that he saved ned

I love the Ashara= Jyanna Reed theory so much.
GRRM is a Romantic at heart, so a small little happy ending within the chaos would be very on brand.
For the woman revered for her beauty, I doubt she’d find most of the highborn men interesting. A mysterious crannogman who’d most likely see her beyond the beauty? Now that’s something

Plus Howland and Ned shared a tent, and Ashara was seen leaving it

I feel like if she was alive, the most likely candidate would be septa Lemore but this only makes sense if she and Ned are the parents of Jon because she is with the young griff who if that scenario were true could be the child lyanna and rhaegar had, and Tyrion notes multiple times her beautiful purple eyes and that she had stretch marks which would suggest she had given birth. Tbh it could just be a giant red herring but George has given a lot of hints at the overall importance of house dayne. I mean he said one time when asked what house daynes words are that he couldn’t say because it would spoil the entire story which to me says something.

If she is still alive, her veiwpoint on Brandon, Benjen, Ned, Lyanna, Rhaegar and everything that went down and who's baby she was actually pregnant with would be fairly epic. And if she is WITH Howland? o00o0o0-The WHOLE Story to be laid out by them both is a potential! The only way it really makes sense for her to "hide" and maybe even baby swap is if she was SA by someone "important" like Aerys, maybe. The story is left open to Brandon or even Benjen having something to do with her as well. It is open to Lady Dustin being aware of, or an active participant in, at least some of this mystery as well. SOOOOO many possibilities!

LOVED this. Personally, I don't believe Ashara had to go into hiding; she chose to. Reason being she wanted to help raise who she thinks is the son of her best friend (Elia) and the man she actually loved (Rhaegar), and help him reclaim his ancestral seat. I'm of the belief that Ashara had been trying to give Rhaegar the 3rd child he needed but Elia couldn't provide, and was massively offended- one might even say dishonored- when he crowned Lyanna at Harrenhal instead of her.
To get over Rhaegar's snub, Ashara sought solace in the arms of the handsome Brandon Stark, who knew of his brother's crush on Ashara but didn't care. From there, the two began a dalliance which lasted until Brandon was set to wed Catelyn. To my mind, this is why Ned shut down the Ashara talk in Winterfell; not to protect himself but rather Catelyn's fragile ego from the revelation that neither Stark brother ever wanted her. I think Ashara's stillborn was Brandon's child, but Ned pulled a fast one and allowed himself to be named the father of her child, which they'd say was actually Jon rather than the stillborn. This gives everyone cover who needs it, at the expense of his own honour. Which is really sad when you think about it because Ned was the one who got screwed. Not to mention it preserves House Stark's relationship with House Tully, who'd likely be offended by Brandon having an affair and fathering a bastard during his betrothal to Cat. Prevents bad blood between the Tullys and Dayne's too. Talk about crisis averted!

I think you're spot on with the Stark who dishonored her at Harrenhal. It was Lyanna. She "looked to" Stark out of jealousy.
Ashara was in love with the same man that every other girl was in love with. Rhaegar Targaryen. And Elia condoned their affair which produced a child. But why did Rhaegar choose Lyanna? Was it true love? Romeo and Juliet? That would be the traditional love story... but that's not the truth.
The truth is... Ashara loved Rhaegar. And Rhaeger loved Ashara.
From what we know of Rhaegar, his greatest love was prophecy. And Ashara Dayne was his prophet. His goddess. His Amethyst Empress. She knew of everything that would come to pass with her and her little circle of friends. As was the destiny of House Dayne. Arthur's death. Elia and her children. Her sweet prince on the Trident with her name on his lips. She had the foresight to know that it would happen and she allowed it all the same. Only Arthur may have known the truth and faced his death willingly.
That is the tragic song of ice and fire. The things we do for love. And the things we do for duty.
If she didn't weave all of this, then the three heads of the dragon would never come to be. There would be no Princes that were Promised. One of whom died tragically in the cradle. Another was taken north and became a warrior in the Night's Watch. And the last, her own daughter, a girl that would become the mother of dragons.
For Daenerys has the same eyes as her mother. Years later the mother would see a red comet in the sky and know the time has come to head to Qarth and meet her daughter and warn her of her fate with visions. One of the visions Daenerys saw was of Rhaegar, who seemed to be looking right back at her. But he wasn't. He was looking at the other woman in the room. Those were the eyes Daenerys was looking through. Those same haunting purple eyes.
And why not reveal herself to her? Why keep such secrets? Could there be anything more important than a mother-daughter reunion which could save Dany from going down the wrong path? Only the fate of the world. Which is why she wears a red lacquered mask that she cries behind and her purple eyes appear shiny.

According to the theory that Ashara is Jon’s mother. Ashara and Ned actually got married before Ned married Cat making Jon the heir to winterfell not rob. Explaining the hatred that Cat has towards Jon as she suspects this as true. Ned kept this truth hidden so he wouldn’t loss the support of the Tully family.

My problem with that is that does that fit Ned's character he is known as being the most honorable and loyal man in westeros. Would he really break that vow by A not telling the tullys he is already married and two doing this behind his families back really Like to me the motives don't work and don't fit his character.

First time watcher , first time responding. I'm a N+A=J or B+A=J kind of guy, as far as Ned not telling the Tully's he did. Lord Tully, Ned and the Blackfish have a major argument about this, it is why the Blackfish leaves. It's also why Ned makes the statement I should have known better than to argue with a Tully, and why we the reader are told that many in the South don't consider a marriage done in front of a weriwood tree, a true marriage. That expression doesn't further the story in any way, no one's marriage is in question, from the South. N+A is the only marriage I can think of that would be the reason that GRRM put that saying in the books. This would give Lord Tully all the wiggle room to make Ned marry Cat. The Lord's for the North and the Vale both went to Riverrun and both married
a Tully. Without these marriages the war is all but lost. I know we both could go on for days trying to prove our beliefs, I'm cool with both of us believing different things it makes listening to your channel more interesting. I'm glad I found your channel keep up the good work. Stay safe

Another thing...in terms of N+A=J, I think part of the reason people support this is because they think Jon will need to wield Dawn, and only Daynes do that. First, through Rhaegar, Jon would have Dayne blood so he doesn't need Ashara to be his mother to qualify. But beyond that, do people really think the Daynes are such a**holes that they'd refuse to loan Jon the sword required for him to save mankind? I don't think they're that despicable but that's just me...

Of course her life was in danger. The whole family was being Rhaegar loyalists. Remember how split the court was at that time. Much talk of Rhaegar overthrowing his father. Which makes the whole tournament at Harrenhall sus. The largest tourney ever for the 5th child born to lord Went who was a girl. No way they have a tourney for that. Remember Ned Dayne the heir to Starfall is named after Ned Stark, why would they do that if he killed arthur and then was the reason ashara killed herself. They never found a body. Ned Dayne even mentions he and Jon are milk brothers nursed by Willa. The same Willa that we must assume was the name Ned Stark used to throw off Bobby B.
The whole Dayne family knows what happened im convinced.

Jyana Reed is clearly a bullshit name constructed by smashing “Jon” and “Lyana” together. Martin has done that before.

Her plot purpose is she is the corroborating witness to Jon’s heritage. The realm wouldn’t just take Ned Stark’s bannerman at his word that Ned’s bastard was actually meant to be king. But if this famous, easily recognizable woman who had been close to the Targaryen family before the rebellion stepped forward and said, “Yeah, this is true: Jon Stark is the son of Rhaegar Targaryen”, the whole story becomes more plausible.
