It's honestly one of the greatest subtle deviations, into an advertisement, mid-video, that I've ever heard from anyone! I DID NOT see it coming! It completely ambushed me, from the blindside, which is something that ad-deviations on RUclips have never been able to accomplish in the past! I think Glidus actually needs to win some kind of award for this, because it's no small accomplishment.
Feels like I wouldn't be as hyped about dragons as I am if I had been born in a world where crazy people ride them into battle against each other. Civil war w/ dragons and nobody's on our side.
This is honestly one of the most TIRESOME theories ever to come out of this book series! And I honestly do not know why so many fans buy into this crap, other than they have developed some kind of obsession with Tyrion Lannister, probably based on his portrayal in the show, and nothing else. Unlike "R+L=J," this theory has very little in the way of "evidence," and has almost no discussion within the books themselves.
Love your avatar. The meme has run its course, but I never got tired of it. Unfortunately, it's only become more relevant since the height of "This is Fine"s popularity.
Glidus: new video Me: You are my son. Glidus: RAID Shadow Legends... Me: You are an ill-made, spiteful little creature full of envy, lust, and low cunning.
kevincarter2020 of course it does. It gets rid of the fact that Tyrion is Tyson’s son. Tyrion is the one Lannister who is most like Tywin in his cunning. Tywin hates Tyrion and says he isn’t his son, but in truth Tyrion is the most like Tywin. If anything Tyrion is Tywin’s true son. Getting rid of Tyrion being Tywin’s son gets rid of all of that
@@yosephbuitrago897 But that works in tandem with the idea of heirs of the houses adopting traits, instead of being born with them. Tyrion would have been exactly like Jaime if he was born normally, so it would make sense he would adopt his supposed father's mind for warfare and economics rather than melee combat. The same applies to Jon as well, if R+L=J does happen, Jon would have adopted Neds traits instead of the traits of his actual father.
@@yosephbuitrago897 I wanna agree... but Tyrion being most like Tywin could be more dramatic story telling (although not automatically). The themes at play would mean that even Tywin's true borns that he put all his faith and hope of legacy in were just as monstrous in the sight of the westerosi public as the incestuous twins.
It comes back to the fundamental question of how many fucking gods are actually in this universe. And I don't know if there is a clean answer, nor do I think there should be. I'm okay with the idea that the facts don't add up. But on a spiritual sense, I still can't shake the idea that Tyrion's unusual appearance is tied to the Targaryens in some way, shape or form. Is that vague and could be using any prophecy to confirm it? Sure. That's how everything in the books works, sometimes even after a mystery is given a concrete "correct" answer. It's vague and is an ingenious way to keep the fan forums grinding. But it doesn't feel tacky, because this is kind of how religion IRL works. I'm like half way through the video now. It still seems heavily foreshadowed, even if it was a red herring. I think a fair compromise theory would be "On a subconscious level, maybe Tyrion was always fascinated with dragons, because he aspired to be Targaryen, because being the bastard of a king, even the mad king, was preferable to accepting that his biological father never loved him and never will. Genetic traits that can be traded for mana points aside, the more Tyrion feels rejected by the world, the more he embraced a spiral of self loathing but was justifying it through a sense of superiority???" in which case that would be a rather Targaryen trait. Everyone wants to be a secret Targaryen. Everyone wants to dream of dragons.
There's something so sad about the idea that the only way Rhaella had the power to protect her friend from the grossness of her husband was to send her away, possibly never speaking to or seeing her again, and then hearing she died in childbirth.
What really sealed the deal for me re: Tyroin not being a secret Targywargy is the fact that Tywin ABSOLUTELY would have had him killed if he had ANY proof that the Dinks wasn't his kid. You don't need the legal proof that he's an actual bastard to disinherit him, he can just have a "hunting accident".
Except he was super in love with his wife and maybe he couldn't stand the idea of killing the last part of her. Tywin admits that he already thinks Tyrion isn't his. He says he just can't prove it.
@@kyle857 you'd think that too if you were tywin and your son, that your wife died giving birth to, turns out to be a dwarf. Plus tywin was never the sentimental type
@@kyle857 Tyrion, a debauched dwarf being the last part of Joanna left is the ultimate insult to Tywin. He would have murdered Tyrion if he had even a shred of evidence Tyr wasn’t his. He genuinely believes Tyrion is responsible for murdering his wife. He also states he is a Lannister. He wouldn’t say that if he had even a shred of actual reason to believe he wasn’t
@burneraccount And you would think that Tywin, one of the smartest men in the Kingdom, who, as hand of the king, would have access to some pretty detailed records of the King’s coming and goings, would find an iota of evidence. Then there’s the fact that Aerys supposed rape of Johanna is only ever recorded in the World of Ice and Fire world book, which canonically also exists in-universe. The fact that Tywin doesn’t seem to take that as any sort of meaningful evidence means that we should probably disregard it as well.
Also agree. Jon Dany and Tyrion are super cinvinient as the three heads of the dragon, but it's very likely the plan changed when young Griff became a more important character. It even fits better for the prophecy with Euron being the "water" as Dany's problem to solve, Tyrion as the "Lion's heart" being the pain in Griff's ass and Jon being left with the last part to deal with.
yeah the theory makes a lot of sense but I agree that it would be more GRRM to keep it as the tragic story of a man who hated his trueborn son for displaying all the negative features that he wanted to hide

Tywin to Jaime: "You are not my son. You say you are Lord Commander of the Kingsguard. Very well, ser. Go do your duty." Which is always overlooked when people use Tywin telling Tyrion he isn't is son as evidence.
I mean wouldn't that ruin the thematic beats of the Lanester siblings. I thought each one inherited a characteristic from Tywin. Jamie got his combat prowess, Tyrion his intellect, And Cerci his ruthlessness.
@@iamnotinvolved1309 it would be a lot better if the two children he loved weren't his.Tyrion begin a targ ruins their relationship. But I dislike both ideas.
Tyrion ordered Bronn to kill a singer and put his body in stew for the masses of King's Landing, he murdered Shae who didn't defend herself while he strangled her and he killed his father on the toilet. Tyrion is far more ruthless than Cersei.
@@nealfirstofhisname not really. Cersei murdered children, killed lady, and whips a boy to teach tommen a lesson. She also threatened to rip someone's eye out as a girl and pushed her friend into a well. She killed ned and dragged his name through the mud and loved thinking about how she gave Robert no children. This is what I remember off the top of my head. Tyrion is not nearly as ruthless.
The timeline doesn't sync up with that theory, in my opinion. Joanna was sent away shortly after her wedding and the twins were born four years after said wedding. Any sort of visit to Casterly Rock by the king would've certainly made it into the royal records (see: Funeral of Tytos Lannister). I'm not saying it's impossible, merely why I don't ascribe to said theory.
That definitely isn’t the case but it could explain how Jaime and Cersei are supposed to be drop dead gorgeous despite also being inbred, while Tyrion is incredibly ugly.
@@noahmclaughlin7921 The Lannisters didn't practice as much inbreeding as the targs, Joanna wasn't that close to Tywin genetically. Plus, in GRRM's world, inbreeding doesn't make people disfigured freaks like irl, Daenerys should've been a Habsburg monster instead she and her eldest bro were some of the prettiest targs ever. Tyrion is only ugly because of his condition. But it would be such a sweet ironic twist if the Targs had barely ever left the Throne, with Joffrey and Tommen being half-targaryen. But it would be a dumb twist and pretty boring too.
@@RenegadeShepard69 Even in real life inbreadind doesn't equal disfigurement. Maria Antonia of Austria was the most inbred habsburg and she was avarage (as in real avarage, no Hollywood avarage) tbh.
@@petrnovak6879 It's not a matter of logistics. There's enough ambiguity that there's like a 10% to 20% chance that Tyrion is a Targaryen, if you're just going off what the story tells us. But in terms of the way GRRM writes and structures a story, you can tell there is absolutely no chance of it whatsoever. It completely undermines the tragedy of Tyrion's story and the conflict and hypocrisy within Tywin. All it does is remove depth and emotional complexity for a gotcha reveal which ultimately impacts nothing on the world. Tell me, what's more sad, that one day your mum gets with someone new, they move into your house and they're mean to you all the time? Or, from the day you were born your actual father, who by every rule of society should be kinder to you than anyone save your mother, wants you to suffer and die a horrible death just because of something you could not control? And then again, what's more powerful? Killing your dickhead stepdad or murdering your own father, who should have loved you? And before someone reading this says it could impact the world because Tyrion will become the third dragon rider and Jon, Dany and Tyrion will be the dream team trio that runs off to defeat the zombies and save the world, you clearly can't tell the difference between Season 8 level fan fiction and GRRM's work. Tyrion's whole story is about being someone the world tried to cast aside, but in reality he drastically effects everything from the supposed sidelines. In other words, he's a 'small man that casts a large shadow'. He's the human conflict at the heart of the fantastical one. Moqorro sees a vision of Tyrion in his flames, a small man with a large shadow snarling in the midst of dragons (and krakens I think, so Tyrion will have some impact on Euron's story). This fits with what it seems he's likely to do. He's already unleashed one 'dragon' army on Westeros. He's about to unleash another. And his story will likely interact with Jon's again someday (when he already has played a major role in shaping Jon's worldview). Another dragon.
The first time I actually enjoyed a Raid Shadow Legends ad. More youtubers should do it like he does it. The part where he says "yes, this is really happening," killed me.
This theory annoys the shit out of my because it devalues the entire story of Tyrion and Tywin, two of the best damn characters of the series, the best portrayed relationship of the entire series. The relationship between himself and his father is Tyrions motiviation for everything he does during the first 4 seasons of the show and basically the entirety of the books.
Tyrion is the son of Tywin. He just is. Tywin is tremendously proud (lion-like), so this misformed product of his loins (that killed his wife) is a public shame to him. George is doing a thing. One thing not discussed in the show at all and may not get any mention in the books, but what would Ned have done if Jon had purple eyes and silver-blonde hair? Ned gets away with saying Jon is his bastard because he looks like a Stark (dark hair and grey eyes), much to Cat's chagrin.
Yeah I reckon as soon as news reached Robert, he would arrange to 'visit' under the guise of catching up, having a tourney and so on. I reckon Ned would have called Benjen down and had Jon cared for by the Night's Watch. It's not the first time they've taken in infants. The issue is then Robert would have marched North to 'see the Wall'. But if Jon was promised to the Watch, legally there isn't much that could be done. And Robert has no way to bargain to make a Night's Watch brother an assassin. They've already sworn their lives away. The main issue would be that people would *absolutely* try to kidnap Jon before Robert could assassinate him. Varys and Baelish would be all over that. They might even succeed. If Varys got him, Jon would likely have been set up as another puppet for Varys and Illyrio, used to make war on Westeros to weaken it, allowing Young Griff to take the throne. Although, it might actually be better to organise a fake assassination of Jon. If anything could cause a war between Ned and Robert, it would be Ned thinking Robert tried to kill his son.
"What would Ned have done if Jon had purple eyes and silver-blonde hair?" The fan theory is that this is why the rumor of Ashara Dayne being Jon's mother was spread about Westeros--so that if Jon did turn out to have Valyrian features, people would assume it was because of her genetics rather than Rhaegar's.
@@hollylucianta6711 honestly I like that idea. It’s funny to think Ned, the honor bound intrigue stunted man helped spread multiple rumors about his nephews parents just in case he had different physical features.
This is a very niche take, but one thing I hate about this theory is the idea that Tywins hatred couldn't possibily be JUST motivated by grief and/or, more pressingly, ableism. As a disabled person who runs in circles w other disabled people, I've met so many people who don't even require care from their parents who still experience disgust or anger from family. Thats not even mentioning the real world death count among disabled people, especially babies and childre, who were killed for being 'burdensome' or 'wrong'. 'All dwarves are bastards in their fathers eyes' was a really poignant quote that I felt personally attatched too in many ways, and seeing people diminish its meaning just kinda sucks.
I think that's part of it. But wouldn't it be far more GRRMy if Tywin's true hatred manifested because Tyrion is a twisted version of himself? Sure, I think Tyrion being a dwarf is the icing on the cake so to speak, but it goes much deeper than that. Tyrion and is more like Tywin than anyone in the entire Lannister family. He represents all of Tywin's deepest insecurities and he reflects Tywin's inner self hatred. Human heart in conflict with itself you could say.
@Thyme and Oregano ASOIAF doesn't play in to modern politics lol, and people think Tyrions going down a dark path because he is, with Penny and raping prostitutes and just being a dickhead. As a stannis fan i haven't seen any ableism but i'm sorry if you yourself has had to deal with it. But Tyrion will most likely be a bad influence on Dany and she probably will be the mad queen, Sorry but no happy endings, just a bittersweet one
@@thehermitman822 The thing is most RUclipsrs don’t really have much of a say where their ads go. The contracts can be pretty specific about that sort of thing. Most ad companies know that most viewers are more likely to skip the ad if it’s at the end, and that’s completely counter to their business model.
@@guccifer764 Most ppl are going to skip an ad unless they are just playing vids as background noise to begin with. That would make ads most viable in the middle since at the start someone might readily skip ahead and at the end someone might stop what they are doing to skip to another vid. Even though an ad might survive best in the middle of a vid it can also be more easily ignored by ppl just using the vid as background noise.
It makes so much more thematic sense for Tyrion to be Tywin's only child and instead Jaime and Cersei to be "secret Targaryens", if that had to happen. I feel like people concocted this because they worked backwards from the conclusion that their favorite characters were all super special mary sues, meanwhile missing the entire point of Tyrion and Tywin's tragic storyline.
While I think that might take Genna’s comments too literally I do think this is more likely. Cersei is quite mad on many days, and runs her life based on prophecy (even if it’s Maggie’s prophecy not dragon dreams). Randomly incesting your twin is pretty abnormal all told but there does seem to be a certain amount of Targ incest pressure that might be partially ‘genetic’ (not that it works that way irl).
@burneraccount Sure, it's possible that there were such ideas early on, but nothing solid stands out to point me in that direction. If this was a cliche fantasy story with cool magical "good guys", then this theory wouldn't bother me so much, but this isn't what ASoIaF is, that's not what GRRM writes. Nobody in this story is special. Even Jon with his alluded Targaryen heritage is not special. People wanting their favorite character to tick the box of their favorite character trait doesn't make a good theory, it displays a complete misunderstanding of the text's purpose. And it's not fucking Proust we're talking about here, it's fairly simple to get what George is trying to do. He even says it out loud, "Heart in conflict". The real red herring in the story is all this magic heritage bullshit.
I hate this theory, but I think it's true. Or at least, Martin planned to make Tyrion a Targaryen at the beginning of the story, but then abandoned that idea. (The same way he abandoned idea of making Arya and Jon a couple). All this talk about dragon having three heads, I'm having a hard time thinking who's the trird
Let's look at a more likely use for Tyrion's knowledge of dragons that actually has some precedent. At the point of the book, Dany still has little control over her dragons. She rides where Drogon takes her. What's one of Tyrion's earliest actions in the books? He designed a saddle for Bran. He'll probably combine that knowledge with his dragon knowledge (and what additional info on them he finds in Essos) to design and saddle and harness for Dany.
imma be real you actually convinced me of this theory when i didn't believe it at the start of this video. "I can't prove you are not mine" is the line that convinced me. It means even Tywin has doubts, and theres really no one else but Aerys for him to suspect. Tywin is the most likely person to know if anything actually happened, and theres enough hints for that to be plausible. If nothing else this suggests to me the ambiguity of Tyrions birth is an intentional element of the character. I personally don't think blood is required for Tyrion to be Tywin come again. Tyrion became like Tywin because of the influence Tywin had over his life, not because they share some 'machiavelian prick' gene. The ambiguity does serve a narrative purpose and does add to the story. It makes a point about how Tyrion is a monster because of how he was raised not because of his genes. It adds more layers to Tywins conflicted feelings about Tyrion, and adds meaning to their final interaction where Tywin tries to conclude finally that Tyrion IS NOT his genetic son, while Tyrions response shows that even if that was literally the case, the fact he IS his son is what turned him into this. Tywins NON-genetic son actually being the most like him is also a rejection of everything Tywin thinks about the importance of blood in creating your legacy. Theres also a couple times you portrays astrisks to this theory like they are damning that I don't think really are. Especially from the angle that it's intentionally meant to be ambiguous. Like, from the perspective that it is meant to be ambiguous, pale blonde hair only being *mostly* exclusive to targ ancestry helps achieve that goal. And of course he never describes the eye as purple, why would he do that, if the intention was to imply something as subtext, what would the writer do? All dragon riders have targ blood, the only exception was clarified to have still had targ blood. Which they felt the need to clarify because only Targs are meant to be allowed to ride dragons. It's implied there was some blood ritual long ago that lets them ride dragons that no one else has. So another goal of the ambiguity could be to allow that to happen logically, without needing to confirm anything that would undercut earlier stories.
Tyrion essentially admits to Jon in AGOT on the way to the wall that the reason he loves dragons is the power they offer, basically so he could kill his father and sister. He used to light fires in the bowels of the Rock and picture Tywin and Cersei's faces in the fires. Honestly, I love the dude, but Tyrion can come off a lot like a school shooter.
I always thought it’d be more fun if Jaime and Cersei were born of the Mad King. That would mean that Targaryens got the throne back right after Robert died and it’d add irony to Jaime killing his father, also it’d somewhat explain their relationship.Itd also be ironic if Tyrion was Twin’s only kid.
You earned a like on the first second of the video. But then I had to remove said like just so I could like again when you mentioned the Tirion Fordring. Amazing
Hi Glidus I’m a bit depressed at the moment so I’ll watch your video some other time and then rewatch it like 273 times as I usually do. Anyways here’s my comment for the algorithm luv u byeee
The main reason why this theory has any credibility is that people want Tyrion to ride Viserion (which is also a much more credible explanation of all the stuff about the Imp and dragons) and wrongly think that only Targs can ride dragons.
As much as I would like to see Tyrion ride a dragon (make the little man fly!), him beeing another secret Targaryen would undermine so much of the Lannister history.
Tyrion’s black eye may just be the result of a enlarged pupil. Bowie exhibited the same feature as a result of trauma and that led people mistakenly assume that he had eyes of different color.
I really like the idea that Tywin and Olenna had some shtuff going on behind closed doors, and that the reasons for the Tyrells practically propping up the Lannisters isnt wholey just a case of "Its the best move", because the best move would be to offer to join stannis on the condition that Shareen gets wed to a Tyrell
One thing i feel like nobody talks about is the theme of "it doesnt matter who your related to biologically, who raised you and how they raised you is what matters" when it comes to tyrion, when its the entire point of jons story and theon and probably a couple other people that i cant think of off the top of my head (possibly ned and/or robert being raised by jon arryn but less so in my mind) i sort of like the idea of tyrions biological father being the mad king, but the whole your no son of mine" ,"im you writ small" is just saying "it doesnt matter at all, im exactly like you becsuse you raised me"
While I don't think Tyrion is a Targaryen, I do like the theory that both Tywin AND Aerys are Tyrion's father. There's a really rare condition, called Chimaerism I believe, which is when 2 different men's sperm fuse together in the womb and form into a child with both fathers and the mother. It usually results in heterochromia, which is 2 different colored eyes but I'm not sure if it just results in blue and brown eyes or if it can be any combination of colors in real life. I don't think Aerys is actually Tyrion's dad over Tywin, but rather that when he screwed Joanna during her tenure as a royal handmaid, his sperm fused with Tywin's already-formed cell baby and changed it into Tyrion. It would explain Tyrion's ability to touch Rhaegal and Visaerion seemingly without any Valyrian blood
I know the line "and he took certain liberties with Joanna" is typically seen as Aerys forcing himself on her, but in my mind I always comes up as him forcing her to play non-consensual jenga or monopoly with him or something.
Liked after the first sentence, pmsl. Glidus your videos are my favourites, i rewatch your entire GoT catalogue every time the crushing weight of reality becomes too much 😂 thank you for all the hard work and deep belly laughs
I'd say it's more likely Jaime and Cersei (or just Cersei, if you consider a highly unlikely but possible scenario) are Aerys' kida. Cersei has the obsession with wild fire. Jaime doesn't take after Tywin much. Tyrion does take after Tywin and his father's lack of approval is what drives him.

I think Nettles exist just so Tyrion can ride a dragon AND not be a Targ. She obviously had knowledge about dragons and it was def more to it than just feeding it. But it's a brilliant way to introduce the ability for Tyrion to be a Dragonrider without being a Targ (and oddly enough, it would make Tyrion the most popular Lannister of all time. Heterochromia isn't limited to eyes, people can have heterochromic hair too. So Tyrion having black and blonde/white hair is not that unusual. I think at the very least, Tyrion's black eye and black hair that contrast a lighter side are supposed to represent the light and dark sides of people. Tyrion can, at times, be good, but he can also be bad. He's the realest in that way. On an even simpler level, there's no way Tyrion could be born with the perfect blonde hair of a Lannister, because then he wouldn't be a complete abomination, and would garner sympathy from his father. GRRM really wants to drive home the idea that Tywin hates Tyrion for every ounce of his physicality, and keeps him around because regardless of who his father is, he is still a Lannister by blood. Tywin, despite personally hating Tyrion, will keep Tyrion around because he values the family name more than anything else. Tywin goes out of his way to protect the family name, often times viciously, and that is his character's biggest motivation. Do I think this proves that Tyrion is not a Targaryen? No. I'm a writer and am putting myself in GRRM's shoes as a writer, and thinking about what is key for portraying a character dynamic. You might ask why even bother to put in such a dynamic if it doesn't drive the plot, and to that I say, GRRM put it in because writing is fun. Tyrion is a very important character of course but he can be interesting, unique, compelling, mysterious and not have anything to do with Targaryens or the prophecy and that's okay. So perhaps whether Tyrion is a Targaryen or not isn't supposed to matter. What should matter is who Tyrion is, his relationships with the other characters and his struggle to fit into the world. That could very well be why GRRM writes the evidence of Tyrion's true parentage in an open-ended way. We don't know either way, probably might never know for sure, and that will make his true parentage less interesting and more of an after thought. It will make whatever he is doing in the story a lot more appealing to read, and have a lot more power. In other words, he doesn't want us to get stuck on something the same way people get stuck on traits like ethnicity, hardship, sexual orientation, that don't make a person into a person.

@@kyle857because Tywin’s hatred for his son couldn’t possibly be motivated by him being a twisted reflection of himself,in his point of view killing the love of his wife, ableism?
Technically the question is whether Tyrion has Targaryen blood, not whether he's a Targaryen, since being an actual Targ means a lawful wedding. Either way, no.
There is one other thing about Tywin's hatred of Tyrion that's pivotal here: the one single thing above _all_ others that Tywin Lannister hated the most for his whole life was being laughed at. And that's what Tyrion was, a laughingstock for the whole kingdom. Aerys called him the gods' punishment for Tywin's arrogance, and that was on the mild end. So of course Tywin hates him, he was like everything Tywin couldn't stand about himself, his family, and the whole rest of the world, distilled into one person
A quick aside about Tyrion’s black eye, I always assumed that he just had one eye that was always more dilated than the other. You know, like David Bowie’s heterochromia, where the irises aren’t actually different colors, just that one looks like it’s black cause the pupil is way bigger.
5:28 he married Joanna because he loved her; the entire point is that he’s a hypocrite for marrying his first cousin out of love instead of a political marriage, then forcing his children into political marriages.
There is genetic historical evidence of heterochromia being a reoccurring Targ trait- But I would not place this evidence in front of a hung jury, as GRRM also likes his anime-protag-esque characteristics for stand out visual motifs. There’s other instances of heterochromia such as Euron Greyjoy but the most common instances are with Targaryens. This being perhaps attributed to the fact that we historically have the most family documentation of Targaryens with them sitting the crown and having their own separate history book.
I agree with you, but I think this theory could be referenced in-universe. Tyrion hears the rumors about Aerys and Joanna, and buys into them because with how broken his relationship with his family is it makes it feel easier for him. It fuels his interest in Dany because he buys into the fantasy he was a Targaryen all along, and that he's Brynden Rivers 2.0. Only for him to find proof that Aerys wasn't near Joanna around the time he was conceived and he has to live with that. Preferably he learns it right in his heel mode
I would like to make a random comment. I wholeheartedly believe George has not finished his new book due to everyone hating the ending to the show. Even though it’s going to be different, And the show was rushed, having a terrible ending to the show really makes It hard to stay motivated to keep working on the storyline for such a failure.
The, "Tyrion is a Targaryen," theory is so dumb and lazy. It's like bad fan fiction. I've also heard people say that Tyrion is all ugly and fucked up and so were many Targaryen babies so that makes him a Targaryen. That stand point completely ignores that Tyrion looks peculiar yes, but ill made Targaryen babies had wings and tails and scales and shit. They were beyond saving and deformed to the extreme. Like Jon is the son of Ned Stark and Ashara Dayne and how stupid it is for him to be a Targaryen when the whole book series sets up him being a Stark. But Tyrion being a Targaryen is pretty far out there. Tyrion is his father's son. He's basically Tywin if Tywin had feelings but Tywin doesn't waste his time with bullshit female stuff like feelings. Feelings and severe emotions are OK for kids and women but not for men and Tywin just takes it too far. To me Tyrion has always been the more realistic side of Tywin. The kind of Twyin we want to hang out with and ruin an IHOP with. Edit: I just had a great thought on how awesome it would be to ruin an IHOP with Peter Dinklage.
Tommen is 8 years old. Young children have much much much lighter hair color than when they are older as the melanin and pigmentation of their hair follicles isn't high enough. Also "Dragon Dreams" are dreams of the future that often involve dragons in their symbolism and imagery. Tyrion just so happens to have never once described to us the reader what actually happened *in his dreams* about dragons. So if Tyrion has a chapter in Winds of Winter where he's talking to FAegon and says "Yeah I once dreamed I was a big scary dragon and I killed my dad in a tower while he was taking a shit." Then obviously that'd be a fucking Dragon Dream and a half.
It’s more believable that Jaime and Cersei are the actually Targaryen bastards. Though they have Lannister features, there mother was a Lannister and who is to say Lannister features are not dominant over Targaryen ones. It would explain the incest and why they are extraordinarily beautiful. Not to mention they made viable children from there incest. Loved the video Glidus!
I think that Tywin wants to believe that Tyrion is not his because that would explain away all the things he hates about Tyrion, instead of him hating Tyrion because he is not his. I also think that George wrote AWOIAF knowing that a considerable part of the fandom believed in Tyrion Targaryen and instead of disproving it he added info that would support the theory, so he wants us to believe that it is possible. So we are not dumb or overreaching for believing it. Over all, I think Tywin could not know for certain and GRRM wants us to not know either. Tyrion is a Schrödinger dwarf and all your theories are valid =)

kevincarter2020 of course it does. It gets rid of the fact that Tyrion is Tyson’s son. Tyrion is the one Lannister who is most like Tywin in his cunning.

Glidus, your brutal honesty is matched only by your humor and sneaky ad placement

And you would think that Tywin, one of the smartest men in the Kingdom, who, as hand of the king, would have access to some pretty detailed records of the King’s coming and goings, would find an iota of evidence.

That would be the peak of irony, and both Robert and Tywin would be rolling in their graves!

Damn right.
"George is doing a thing." 10 out of 10 brilliant line. You are a genius.
@@marinuswillett6147 I mean I always suspected something, but this opened my eyes.
"What would Ned have done if Jon had purple eyes and silver-blonde hair?"
The fan theory is that this is why the rumor of Ashara Dayne being Jon's mother was spread about Westeros--so that if Jon did turn out to have Valyrian features, people would assume it was because of her genetics rather than Rhaegar's.
@@hollylucianta6711 honestly I like that idea. It’s funny to think Ned, the honor bound intrigue stunted man helped spread multiple rumors about his nephews parents just in case he had different physical features.

Absolutely my favourite theory so far!
Maybe that drove him mad because he wanted to know the man under the armor

"yes this is actually happening"
Its fun to think that all the approval Tywin did give was to cuck kids while the true heir was despised.
Which is why Tyrion is a Targ.....

So another goal of the ambiguity could be to allow that to happen logically, without needing to confirm anything that would undercut earlier stories.
barely noticed the transition, very immersive ad

Everybody is a secret Targaryen by this point.

Putting Ned's face on that line is so well made 😂😂😂
What a pleasant surprise on Friday afternoon. Thank you, this cheered me up!
A Glidus theroy video. It's been like, what, 2 years? Bet half of you weren't here for Aurane, eh?
waaaaay fewer than half
One thing i feel like nobody talks about is the theme of "it doesnt matter who your related to biologically, who raised you and how they raised you is what matters" when it comes to tyrion, when its the entire point of jons story and theon and probably a couple other people that i cant think of off the top of my head (possibly ned and/or robert being raised by jon arryn but less so in my mind) i sort of like the idea of tyrions biological father being the mad king, but the whole your no son of mine" ,"im you writ small" is just saying "it doesnt matter at all, im exactly like you becsuse you raised me"
If every child who’s mother dies during
Birth makes them a Targ....then well...there’s a shit ton of dragon seeds all over.
Rhaegar Targaryen didn't die during birth
Rhaegar Targaryen - Maybe I not a true Targaryen
"The interesting thing is that he isn't, and yet people still think he is"
Phew, thanks glinus, almost unsubscribed
I know the line "and he took certain liberties with Joanna" is typically seen as Aerys forcing himself on her, but in my mind I always comes up as him forcing her to play non-consensual jenga or monopoly with him or something.
He would be mad enough to do something like that 😂
Ngl big dog when I heard that raid ad I thought maybe Tyrion could be a targ
Liked after the first sentence, pmsl. Glidus your videos are my favourites, i rewatch your entire GoT catalogue every time the crushing weight of reality becomes too much 😂 thank you for all the hard work and deep belly laughs
I'd say it's more likely Jaime and Cersei (or just Cersei, if you consider a highly unlikely but possible scenario) are Aerys' kida. Cersei has the obsession with wild fire. Jaime doesn't take after Tywin much. Tyrion does take after Tywin and his father's lack of approval is what drives him.
Oh, Glidus! How I love your funny discussions, they make my day. Thank you.
"sounds like a guy who just didn't care what people thought and he's just living his truth" based Aerys

Best Raid shadow legends sponsor ad I've ever seen! Cheesy and prolific as they are, I'm super happy that you got a sponsor, and hope you get many more! I really think you should check out Mista GG too, and approach the same companies that sponsor him. You're both brilliant and hilarious creators with a similar type of audience, and can be imaginative and creative with sponsorship ads.
Also so good to see you back, thank you for another amazing video and theory. Time for my second watch through, slightly slower so I can pause and catch all the text this time ;-) Would love to catch a livestream, DO IT
Mista GG popped into a stream once! Lovely guy. I don't know his work at the time but checked him out afterwards. I can definitely see why you think we're similar in some ways. I'm new to this whole sponsorship thing but at this point (as you can plainly see) I'll take what I can get.
@@Glidus That's awesome! Mista GG is a good guy for sure, from what he shows in his videos for sure. But especially because he often covers certain topics and uses humour that ain't usually sponsorship or ad friendly, the sponsors he has would likely be more open to your humour too. That would be my guess, anyway. Compared to the more 'PC' companies that only want family vloggers anyhow.
Chuffed to get a reply from you, thank you! Hope that this is the first of many sponsors so we can get more videos! The time and effort you put into these really shows, while you also make it look effortless. You deserve way more subs already. Those of us who've found you so far appreciate you! (Good to see you know who Bill Bailey is as well, just caught that reference, one of my favourite comedians!)
Making him THE Lannister Legend, above even Lan The Clever..which would have Tywin turning in his grave lol The ugliest Lannister being the most beloved is just fantastic lol)
Any chance you're on OG drunken peasants podcast fan aye Glidus? "Way back in nineteen ninety eight... When, the brother of KANE, threw Mankind off a Hell in a Cell Through a Spanish announcer table...."
Tyrion rolling over on the wall and nearly falling off still makes me hold my breath even in such a short clip I've already seen.
I saw this theory everywhere at some point, it’s very ingesting but I don’t see it for myself. Can’t wait for the books (one day. A girl can dream)

I have seen some impressive segways into an ad, but this has to be the smoothest one ever! Love your videos, love that aussie humor and attitude (hiiiiighly assuming you're Aussie tho), and please keep them coming!

If Tyrion is a Targaryen it ruins the incredibly interesting relationship with Tywin.
Not at all. It kind of explains it.
@@kyle857 yeah explaining it is how it ruins the relationship by making it far less interesting
18:51 ok I laughed out loud at that edit, well done
A quick aside about Tyrion’s black eye, I always assumed that he just had one eye that was always more dilated than the other. You know, like David Bowie’s heterochromia, where the irises aren’t actually different colors, just that one looks like it’s black cause the pupil is way bigger.
5:28 he married Joanna because he loved her; the entire point is that he’s a hypocrite for marrying his first cousin out of love instead of a political marriage, then forcing his children into political marriages.
There is genetic historical evidence of heterochromia being a reoccurring Targ trait-
But I would not place this evidence in front of a hung jury, as GRRM also likes his anime-protag-esque characteristics for stand out visual motifs. There’s other instances of heterochromia such as Euron Greyjoy but the most common instances are with Targaryens. This being perhaps attributed to the fact that we historically have the most family documentation of Targaryens with them sitting the crown and having their own separate history book.
You have convinced me, Tyrion IS a Targaryen! So cool!!!
Why
Supper😊😊😊😊😊😊
I agree with you, but I think this theory could be referenced in-universe. Tyrion hears the rumors about Aerys and Joanna, and buys into them because with how broken his relationship with his family is it makes it feel easier for him. It fuels his interest in Dany because he buys into the fantasy he was a Targaryen all along, and that he's Brynden Rivers 2.0. Only for him to find proof that Aerys wasn't near Joanna around the time he was conceived and he has to live with that. Preferably he learns it right in his heel mode
How much are you willing to bet Glidus doesn't need ad revenue, he just took their offer so he could be super snarky about it
It melted my cold blackheart when you mention Tirion Fordring.! Kudos sir.
I would like to make a random comment.
I wholeheartedly believe George has not finished his new book due to everyone hating the ending to the show. Even though it’s going to be different, And the show was rushed, having a terrible ending to the show really makes It hard to stay motivated to keep working on the storyline for such a failure.
A Glidus video on my birthday. I feel blessed.
Happy birthday:)

Tyrion has weird hair and different colored eyes. Different colored eyes can actually happen. It's not that strange.
Its not THAT dumb
People theorize About so many things in books and 98% is more crazy than this
@@petrnovak6879 oh I know. I was binging Order of The Green Hand for a while. Lots of great theories over there and even some really solid ones that I think will play out in the books.
@@Texmechs "Feelings are ok for kids and women but not for men" oof hope you work through that shit man.

Thanks for watching. Season six next! I'm in lockdown again so it's the perfect time to get working. See you (crosses fingers) soon!

Long live J + A = C & J death to Tyrion Targaryen
OH YOU MENTIONED IT AT THE END

It’s more believable that Jaime and Cersei are the actually Targaryen bastards. Though they have Lannister features, there mother was a Lannister and who is to say Lannister features are not dominant over Targaryen ones. It would explain the incest and why they are extraordinarily beautiful. Not to mention they made viable children from there incest. Loved the video Glidus!
9:34 that is an astonishingly well chosen clip lmao
Also the reversed footage at 10:06, good shit
thanks i thought that was clever
Didn’t he bring up all that evidence and revealed it wasn’t solid and probably reaching
Honestly, what most people don't seem to REALISE about Game of Thrones is just how far a 16ft drop is. And through a fucking announce table? Are you kidding me? So mqny variables. So many things that could have gone wrong. Huge props to D&D.
