Learned a lot on this my second time listening to Dr. Carr. My contention this election is the fallacy of single issue voters and the violence speech of the GOP. My vote will go to the candidate that promotes progress for most people in all areas of our daily lives climate change, education, health, economics, equal justice and law, etc. There is a lot that needs to be fixed. Individuals cannot be so arrogant that their one vote will change one political issue.

What's up with Professor Carr's comment concerning "Baltimore is being a southern city"? Most people with a sense of history knows this don't try to downplay this facts as a "badge of shame" or dishonor to their southern roots. If they do, I understand why and where is stems from. Like many of unread and ignorant people who still view the "South as bastion of backwardness and ignorance". He's correct! Baltimore (and Maryland), technically, are located in the South, but Baltimore city has a complicated history in relationship to African people and its struggles that is rooted beyond how Black Baltimore's dialect and southern mannerism. The city is not a "one-mule town" located in the backwoods of Mississippi (not to knock Mississippi). It has the sociopolitical sophistication and complexities of any northeast municipality.
In other words, its diverse just like most northeastern cities?
I am from the Deep South. Georgia to be exact. Military town to be accurate. Individuals that came from Virginia and Maryland were very clear about knowing they were below the Mason Dixon line, however, in no way did they want any parts of "being from the South or Southern." It was on display when I attended university in the Atlanta metro area in the mid and late 90's.
Not one lie was told.
