- In this video, I discuss how to program your directv remote control (RC73) to your TV. I go thru some of the menus to get this done. It's a very easy job that'll control power and volume on your TV. The remote is only intended for these basic functions.

Thank you! I was about to smash my controller!! Thanks for sharing your wisdom! Have a great year!!
You're welcome! So glad I could help... 😀
Thank you very much... That worked for me and my Vizio TV.
You're welcome!
After watching numerous video's and reading instruction articles to no avail, I finally came across your video and it's the only one that helped!! I was able to program my parent's remote for them finally. Thank you so much for easy and clear instructions!!👍🏻
Wow! That's awesome... Thanks for the great feedback and you're welcome 😀
Thank you! it worked perfectly 🥰
You're welcome!
Best of the best tutorial. Appreciate
Thank you so much.. 😀. You're welcome!
Perfect. Thank you!!!
You're welcome!
Thanks worked for TCL-Roku
Awesome! You're welcome..
What happens if you can't get it to turn on because the on off button is broken
It should still work... The remote sends out a "power" signal. The TV doesn't know if its turning on or off, just that its told to cycle the power status if that makes sense..
How to retrieve codes from an RC 73 DIRECTV remote
HI, if you google the codes for Directv remote, it'll give you the link.... Thanks.
Ok this was simple and useful so thanx a bunch! But can u tell me what I'm doing wrong since my screen doesn't show any difference from the home screen after I have turned on the RF mode on the remote. All the lights flashed as they should have but no word prints came on the tv. I have a 50" Hisense Roku without the remote
HI Holly, unfortunately I don't have this receiver any more to try and see if I can simulate your issue... ☹️
@@JLPicard440 Thank u for responding! I found the problem. I had to manually, using the power button at the bottom of the tv, make sure the tv was in the same HDMI setting as the plug was. It had 3 ports and I was using the 1st and it was set for the 2nd. It went as you instructed right afterwards! Thanx agn! Very informative!
That's awesome! Glad you found the problem...
My remote worked until a week ago. I tried the reprogramming, went through 30 codes for my Sanyo TV and I could not get it to work. Any ideas?
Did you try replacing the batteries?
i can’t get my rf menu to pop up after doing the 961 thing any ideas?
Hmmm.. maybe try a factory reset on the remote?
What about with older receivers that don't attempt to enter the codes automatically? I can't get the remote to switch to RF. I had the remote connected to the TV but had the remote replaced(same RC73 remote) and now I can't seem to get the new one connected to the TV again. Doesn't seem to want to go in RF mode.
When I try to do the mute+enter, it blinks but doesn't do anything on the TV screen. Just strange because I had the remote connected before and didn't have these issues connecting last time. It's just the one room that's an older receiver. All my other ones go through the codes just like your video showed. Typing in the codes manually doesn't do anything but I'm not sure if it's because I can't get the remote to go in RF mode or what it is
I'm not sure if the RC73 can be programmed manually. I think the RC66 is the manual one. Did you try this to set remote to RF mode? "Hold down the Mute and Enter buttons. When the green light blinks twice, let the buttons go. The TV will display “Applying IF/RF setup”. Might not work if you have an older receiver. Did it work before with the same receiver?
Sorry, you're second comment was in a different location so I didn't see it right away. Have you tried replacing the batteries?
Worked
Awesome! Glad I could help...
All the keys work except volume and/or mute and yes replaced batteries. Tried setting up audio, but I cannot find the code on the tv screen for my model. LN32B530 in the list. Not even by search by letter.
Hmm.. not sure on that one. Are you trying to setup audio on an external system? OR do you want audio control for the TV itself?
@@JLPicard440 Turned out to be a line issue on the next pole.
@@diamond6256 Very good.
doesnt work. after mute select 961 channel up enter it just keeps flashing green
HI. How fresh are the batteries? Sometimes marginal batteries can cause problems.
@@JLPicard440 thanks for the reply. The batteries are new. After an hour of searching other resources and not getting anywhere. I tried a working RC73 from a different room in the house. That one worked. I figure the first remote was broken somehow, so I ordered a new one. Thanks for the video, it actually worked, once I used a know working remote!
Awesome! That's unusual to have a broken one, but it does happen... Glad you figured it out... 😀
So what kind of cable tv do you have
RG6... 😀
Thank you so much 😊
You're welcome 😊
But I don't have the receiver...??
I don't think this one does codes... the RC66 is code programmable (if I remember right)...
Set your rf by selecting mute and enter... done automatically
Ok thanks!.. 😀
*THANK YOU!!*
You're welcome!
This didn't work I followed the video and nothing happened on my tv.
Sorry to hear that.. Did you try all the codes?
@@JLPicard440 I tried all the NEC Codes for my tv and nothing happened
To directv receiver?!
What do you mean?
@@JLPicard440 To pair the DirecTV remote to the DirecTV receiver. Basic but not even defined in the manual.
I think I covered that in the video... was that your question?
@@JLPicard440 I take it then the first 33 seconds are for pairing the remote with the DirecTV receiver not the TV? Odd that not written in the DirecTV manual.
No you're not pairing the remote to the TV.... After you pair to the receiver, you can then program the remote through the receiver to work with the TV. It's still not paired to the TV, it only will send out the appropriate codes/ signals that the TV will respond to. I hope that makes sense.
You explained what direct tv did . None of the codes work, rename your video.
Ok Thanks.
repeat slow
Great! Thanks.
