Jake Sullivan has done a lot of damage to Ukraine
and Europe and peace in the world.
But is not only Sullivan - it is also those, who chose to listen to him and hide behind his back. But we know it all comes down to the US president.
Executive power, entrusted by the American people.
@@free2dialogue saidly Americans can only choose between weak and outright evil
I think Sullivan only represents a larger and perhaps older group of foreign relations establishment barons. They are still struggling with the 1815 Vienna Peace Conference and European balancing of Great Powers. In these persons thinking, the Russian Far East is intimately connected to Russia in Ukraine, a Russian collapse. Nuclear deterrence…they came to the table in the Cold War and Kissinger and learned all the wrong lessons then and now.
Reagan was no stronger than Annapolis-graduate nuclear submariner Carter vis a vis Soviet Union, or Bush the elder, for that matter.

Traitors taking over NATO. NO ONE WILL BE PROTECTED NOW COWARD GLOBALISTS BOUGHT THE WEST
You can't trust politicians . They are spinning rhetoric and pretend to obey principles but in fact they are just looking for a new term in power. Beside that either Democrats or Republicans politicians are controlled by corporate interests and none of them have solution . Democrats wants mingling conditional globalism and republicans real politic isolationism , but both of them will bring western world in collapse.
While I agree with what you have to say, however have you ever heard of the space button. It would be alot easier to read if you put a space between each word.
I ran out of breath reading that.

A joke that I heard recently: Ukraine will be only be allowed to join NATO after it defeats all of the NATO's primary adversaries.
Funny, sad and true
It all comes down to us not wanting to go to war.
Appeasement. Hoping that Russia will maybe somehow stop, even if it destroys all of Ukraine. How wise is such a view? It is purely emotional and in lack of courage.
If anyone of such Western politician would like to make a reality check, it would be easy. Russia has not in the least been deterred. Russia is upping its military industrial complex.
And we are sitting on our hands, praying?
@@kostiantyn8724 good one ☝️ don’t forget to add the disclosure: nato reserves the right to change their decision and pull out the corruption card at any time, except of course for existing members, like say turkey, etc. 😡

Thank you for your excellent video, Jonathan !
I feel truly sorry for the Ukrainians, because they find themselves between the rock of ruthless and barbaric enemies (the Russians) and the hammer of coward, untrustful and treacherous allies (Usa and western Europe).
Way before when Russia was destroying Chechnya, the Western leaders were shaking hands with Putin. Then Russia's war in Georgia and nothing changed. So, Putin figured he could go on with the war in Ukraine....
Jake Sullivan daydreaming of how he can pull off a Western Betrayal 2.0 .
You might be tired, Jonathon, but you always deliver quality commentary. This is another of those pivotal moments in this war. Indeed, of this world. Where democracy will rise or fall with Ukraine. It is crucial to support both.
Slava Ukraini!
It's more nuanced than that. Democracy won't fall with Ukraine, but it will be weakened, and a Ukrainian victory won't mean the end Democratic degradation, but we will have removed a threat.
Russia is not the cause of democratic degradation in the west, it's been merely using it to propagate the Kremin's agenda.
Thank you for your strong stance on this matter, Jonathan.
Getting into the back and forth about Ukraine joining NATO distracts from the present. The focus should be on active support on the ground.
I wouldn't put anything past Sullivan. I've already written to my senator about him & limited use of air targets, this morning

I keeping saying the leadership of the Nato alliance in there defence of ukraine has be appalling especially by the big military economies
Ie us , Germany, France, Italy ulk Spain and Turkey the smaller states did there best ,
You have orban working his best for putins interests
These major military powers have been totally out manoeuvred by putin red circle
These large states have been indecisive, weak , lacked urgency and not prioritising ukraine
The leaders of NATO US GERMANY ARE PARTICULARLY WEAK
Thank you so much for another great bite
I'm incredibly angry about NATO - Ukraine deserves to be in NATO! Are they not fighting for a free Europe? NATO must act with strength and Trump-proof anything !! President Zelenskyy has the RIGHT TO KNOW what Trump has the plan for.
More to the point, the people with the votes for his policy must know what is behind the boast.
Great content as always Jon
Thank you for this clear summary. And your passionate plea. We, people in the west and together with the Ukranians, must focus/work/think on ways forward. Like what operator Starsky is doing, for example. That is why Russia spent untold amounts of money in the Brexit misinformation campaign against England.

I was among those who understood america would screw Ukraine over when rusha’ s inevitable invasion came . Watching years of “whoops’” from the yanks and others that always benefit rusha takes pretty hard squinting to not suspect a deep malignancy at the heart of the west …
China and Belarus hold joint military exercises near Polish border ... That is worrying ...
Yes, but it's also near Moscow... perhaps Xi's most distant provincial capitol if putin continues
After the war, Ukraine will have grown into a Super-Finland. It may not want to join NATO, if this would involve cooperating with nations that let Ukraine down during the war.
I believe the US State Department has decided to pre-empt the massive snub it had coming, anyway. The actual ‘danger’ Ukraine poses to NATO, is the near-certainty of a shift of its centre of gravity towards the East.
Thank you, Jonathan, for another excellent episode of Silicon Bites.
🇺🇦 Перемоги та миру всім українцям! 🇺🇦
👍👍👍
John Kirby said first, Ukraine should win over Russia. So first, Ukraine should neutralize the main threat to NATO, for the purpose of which it was even created. For sure, Ukraine has to overcome communist China, North Korea, Iran, hunger in Africa and global warming. And then, maybe, there will be some promises in regards to Ukraine joining NATO.
Jonathan is channeling the current mood - grim. We’re all right there with ya.
👍👍👍
who would've thought it would enable Russia?
The qustion remains open who is to blame:
- if the West is a democracy, then it's the people - far more so than the Russians who have zero say in their govt's policies
- if the West is an oligarchy, than the media-controlling oligarchs...
The only two things I see turning the tide are both unthinkable:
- more RU atrocities such as the recent strike on a children's hospital in Kiyv (realistic, though the price is high - but it's not like the West is paying it, right?)
- RU actually managing to move forward at a significant pace, thus threatening the EU countries (not very realistic, and the price is equally high)
I don’t know what would happen if we had real democracy in the west, because we don’t have it.
But we do have a measure of democracy, and the people in the west voted for socialist swinery, social program to selfishly benefit themselves rather than prepare their nations for responsible financial management and self-defense.
The western swine brought it upon themselves. They are so horrible. People are completely selfish, they will sell out the future for gratification in the present.
It is that simple. They have 20 times the economic power of Russia, and steal the Russians are doing pretty well given the circumstances.
Russia saved their money for this war, that’s why they are still in it and not yet defeated. I hope they will be defeated. All of the western nations just dug bigger hole of debt, and are borrowing money to finance the war. Who will crack first?
Last time it took the collapse of near all of Europe.
People are really lazy.
Democracies involve the representatives that have been elected, who then proceed with policies outside the mandate they have been given for the policies they claimed in their manifestos. Even to committing atrocities. It has happened throughout history. The people of Britain didn't tell Churchill to get Bomber Harris to drop poison gas on the Kurds, as it destroyed the remnants of the Ottoman Empire. Neither did the people of the USA have any say in the dropping of two atomic bombs on Japanese cities, and there was certainly opposition at home before Blair joined Bush in the war on Iraq on the unfounded pretext of weapons of mass destruction with incredible capabilities to hit the UK. The people of democratic nations have no more say what their elected leaders do than those living under dictatorships, but they can remove those leaders more easily, and without threat to their safety.
RUclips keeps deleting comments.
me too, you’re not alone 🇺🇦
This is likely due to Russian troll attacks on algorithms.
I totally concur Jonathan!
Russias past greatness and the soul of Russia that we once admired came from the ordinary people and the warmth of their hearts , the great musicians, the great writers, and artists. I remember going to see the Moscow balalaika orchestra playing at the Colston Hall in Bristol back in the 1980's and being entranced by such beautful and soulful music. We hate Russia not just because of its war on Ukraine and the Western world, but because of what it has done to its once wonderful people whose minds have been poisoned, but not all of them thankfully.

4:44 "protecting a European country from Russian aggression is a danger to the core principles of the alliance formed to protect Europe from Russian aggression" 🤦♂
what Russian aggression? Putin, has told us over the past 20 years, no NATO expansion, Ukraine must be neutral, having relasions with both EU/US and Russian. You can dismiss this, but it is there on the record. Ukraine means a lot more to Russia, than it does to the UK, France or any other country in the west.
What part of annexing multiple Oblasts & continuing military operations dont constitute Russian aggression?? @@RodrickLionheart
@@davidkottman3440 well, wether you like it or not, those 4 Oblasts held their own referendums to cede from Ukraine. In the case of Lugansk and Donetsk, they declared their independence way back in 2014. I guess if Kosovo can declare their independence and cede from Serbia, then it is ok for those 4 Oblast to do the same .
@@RodrickLionheart of course they did so in response to orders from Moscow, rather than deciding to be independent....you know this.
@@davidkottman3440 ok, lets assume that they declared their independence under duress from the Russian government. Do you not think that we would be seeing an insurgence against the Russians in those Oblasts? The Russian Fedrations would effectively fighting on two fronts, a Ukraine/NATO offense from the western part of the country, and an insurgency behind the lines, with constant harrassement, terrorist and sabotage attacks in those oblasts. But in truth, we are not seeing this
I think, especially in the lead up to a US presidential election, news stories about candidates that are based on anonymous sources should be largely ignored.
This Nato neverland tune for Ukraine is old. How long has it played? Over 20years 😡
Maybe an extended period of Russian attrition (the longer the better) was always the goal and everything is going according to plan. A weaker Russia has many benefits, The US wouldn't have to budget for 2 war fronts, Europe would be safer and China may divert their attention from Taiwan to taking Manchuria back instead, winning brownie points from the West.
A weak Russia benefits no one. Money blown down the toilet and global economy is suffering.
Except that the same goals could be achieved while supplying adequate air defence to Ukrainian cities.
@@ak5659absolutely
Looks like the second point regarding China's ambitions for upper Manchuria is already on progress, but also agree with the other reply here that at the very least, significant air defense capability should never have been slow rolled especially after Ukrainian air defenders proved more than a year ago how competent they are on western SAM systems.
and where on earth would the money come from to sustain these conflicts? Have you not seen the US national debt recently? And the fact that countries are slowly but surely moving away from the Dollar. Also, where are all the weapons going to be manufactured on a scale to sustain such conflicts?

While the "Malta yok" phrase may have emerged as a humorous folk tale or urban legend, it does not accurately reflect the historical events. The Great Siege of Malta in 1565 was a real and significant military campaign, not something that simply "didn't happen" as the phrase suggests.

I know that around ten years ago many of my friends who tried to do business in Ukraine said that corruption there is on another level even compared to Russia. So I do think it is big problem in Ukraine. And even now as much I hear there is lot of it. It's kind of strange that among the Ukrainian supporters people are divided into two groups - those who think there is almost no corruption and others who think there is too much of it. But almost nobody is discussing how to get rid of it. (And I do know there are some of these good people in Ukraine too) I do think that it is possible but how I don't know. Seems like everybody has forgotten what happened in USSR after WWII.
Otherwise good podcast. I do support Ukraine but I think that getting rid of corruption is really big part of it.
I can not believe that corruption in Ukraine is greater than in Russia. That's pretty incredulous because that kind of corruption is a hold over from Russian domination of Ukraine for the last 100 years.
totally agree, with you; how to get rid of corruption in Ukraine? At the end of the day, it is not really any of our business, we need to get our own houses in order, before we send our tax revenues to the sink hole called Ukraine
@@RodrickLionheart No, the active conflicts don't wait for others to get their house in order. If you're a volunteer firefighter you drop everything when the alarm goes off, you don't clean the house & polish the truck first!
@@davidkottman3440 huh???? I fail to see what your metaphore has to do with what my comment was. Getting our house in order means: dealing with OUR economy first. it means dealing with OUR health service first. it means dealing with OUR migrant crisis first...etc ratherthan dealing with a country that has no historic ties to us (if you are from the UK) and is 'the most currupt country' in the euro zone. It really is not a good idea sending our taxes to them
@@RodrickLionheart It can be more expensive, for everyone, not to support Ukraine. Like any emergency, quick response limits the damages, and make no mistake putin is targeting all of us for damage not just Ukraine.
Trump’s ignorance cost the lives of a million US citizens last time around; his reported plan for peace in Europe would cost many times more. The world stands on the brink of disaster unless people of goodwill and political leaders quickly grow a backbone. Withdrawal from the world may sound good to people who take little interest in politics, but the consequences are dramatic and far more considerable than such people seem able to understand.
US, has been politically defeated.
Oh dear. But he’s promised a new package of weapons to Ukraine?
I think trump must welcome all this about our concerns. He would welcome us getting better at Ukraine support
What caused Russia to attack Ukraine.Abdrei Kelin accused Russo phobia? I don't see how that accusation stands up. There was a lot of investment in Russia by the west.
Yes there was, unfortunatley there is russo phobia in the upper eshelons of the UK power brokers that go back centuries, in the US, there are still those in both houses that still thinks that Russia is communist, also, see how Russians are portrayed in Hollywood (just like Arabs)
What would be great to see, maybe a little bit outside your format, but is a takedown of one of those Russian narrative pieces, such as the Tucker Carlson video you mentioned showing Ukrainian Greek orthodox church is supposedly being attacked. A walk-through or a dissection of a few key parts of it would be excellent ammo, especially if in collaboration or in conjunction with somebody who is perhaps expert in debunking Russian propaganda. And perhaps it would be more opportune if you can identify or select a piece of propaganda or narrative that is somewhat forward-looking, say for example false Russian script that has been picked up and permeated by members of the Biden administration that could jeopardize Ukrainian accession into NATO or the EU
They’re going to make us more Woke

You should have stood up to save America
Does Neville Chamberlain spring to mind???
Wondering what would a Kamala Harris presidency would mean for Ukraine? Would it be status quo or would there be a push in either the negotiate or win direction.
Lol, that's a mystery... "we can move ahead & be free to leave behind what is the past" - KH.
Beautifully presented and articulated. Because you see the acts of repression inside Russia, you have some key misunderstandings tho:
Of course, there are a bunch of nuts in Russia who would like to capture neighbouring countries, but Putin is the ultra-rational foreign policy maker who keeps them in check. He's never wanted to occupy Western Ukraine, the Baltics or Poland (He respects how much those areas would keep fighting for their independence.)
If you are willing to understand multiple (authentic) perspectives, Putin is probably the best negotiating partner, quite legalistic, doesn't break agreements like Minsk etc.
I know you're highly propagandized (both sides!), but I can explain all to you if you like - and value the authentic reassurance over rage.
We have to stop the killing of hundreds of thousands of Ukrainians *now* - and it breaks my heart to see realistically how much more land they are likely to lose in 2024.
Also, we disagree with Orban in many ways, but he is creating a valuable communications bridge between enemies - altho he considers the Russian invasion illegal (and has a personal history of fighting against Russian/Soviet occupation).
So tragically sad that liars/manipulators dominate the airwaves on both sides these days.

Save your criticism for Galloway - a real Kremlin operator who was inserted into the democratic process like a butt plug. I support Farage out of despair with the current liberal consensus. I also support what you are doing on Patreon. We need desperately new independent voices - the current shambles produced the biggest war in Europe since WW2.
Shouting them down does not help - this does not mean you have to agree with them.
Nigel Frottage frottin' poo tin?
It would've been so easy for Ukraine's allies to prevent most of Russia's atrocities and war crimes. And it is still easy to prevent most of them going forward. With only a tiny bit more courage (or a tiny bit less cowardice), the allies need only establish and abide by a rule that the amount and type of weapons they give Ukraine -- and the restrictions they place on how and where Ukraine can use them -- depends directly on whether or not Russia fights the war with some honor and basic decency. The allies would need to communicate this rule to the Russians and tell them that, regardless of how honorably or dishonorably Russia fights the war, the allies will give Ukraine at least enough support not to lose more territory, but that minimal support will spare Russia the humiliation of an unequivocal, flat-out defeat. But if Russia continues to commit war crimes, then the allies will give more lethal weapons to Ukraine and loosen restrictions on how and where Ukraine can use them. If Russia not only continues to commit war crimes but continues to do so on a large scale, then the allies will give Ukraine enough to drive the Russians out of the occupied territory in Eastern and Southern Ukraine and, if Russia's war crimes remain widespread and monstrous, then the allies will give Ukraine enough weapons to drive Russia out of Crimea as well leaving it obvious for all to see that Russia flat-out lost the war.
ok, If I were Russian, I would have seen how the 'allies' have acted in the first 30 years of the 21st century; bombing, invading, occupying, and supporting mass murder, and I would laugh when you call us up for atrociies and war crimes..It would be the pot calling the kettle black
NATO is supposed to prevent invasions of NATO member nations. Check.
NATO forbids adding a new member state that is in a hot war. Check.
A ceasefire would allow Ukraine to apply for NATO membership. Check.
Now look at those who oppose a ceasefire. Oops.
What a dupe. Do you think for 1 second that Putin will honor a cease fire?
@@robertmiskey5502 == You can't comprehend that a ceasefire gets Ukraine into NATO, and that NATO deters Russia?! Did you fall on your head?
What prevents Ukraine from joining NATO?
Answer: NATO forbids adding a new member nation that is in a current hot war.
Forbidden!
...but a ceasefire, such as South Korea's Armistice of 1953, would allow Ukraine to apply for NATO membership. With no hot war, Ukraine would be eligible to apply for NATO membership. NATO would no longer be forbidden to Ukraine.
These concepts are too intellectually advanced for an entire swatch of youtube reply-bots. The most common response when they get called out on the above is for them to pretend that mere border disputes prevent NATO membership.
Nope. Greece has had an on-going border dispute with Turkey since prior to joining NATO. Same for Turkey and Syria. Didn't stop either from joining NATO.
...then the reply-bots run away.
@@aircvr4175 something tells me UA will not be admitted to NATO overnight once the "ceasefire" is in force. And a deal with poo teen isn't worth the price of ink it's signed with.
@@aircvr4175 I am sorry, but that is simplistic fantasyland. What possible guarantee is there that Ukraine would be given NATO membership if there was a ceasefire. It hasn't even been given a roadmap towards membership - particulary in light of recent US statements. Work out a clear path that guarantees Ukraines security and then you can talk about peace. A ceasefire is only a pause in the fighting and from Putin's point of view just another means to defeat Ukraine.
US deliberatly dealy F16, and prevent alternative.
The most signifikant is the model of 'HOME LAND'
- US, homeland security.
- Russia, 'Mother Russia'
The view, is to fight, but NEVER in home-land, throgh proxy.
Viewing Europe as buffer-zone and sanatery-zone..
Even using Nuckear weapons...in Europe, may be beneficial to both US & Russia, a wave of refugees, would fuel the ekonomy, and capital will automatically flow, to a safe harbour...
Russia & US...
Further can military strenghten, by selling bond/options on EMPTY land, just clean-it, and it's yours...
Thus both US & Russia can safely expand garante each others safety.
Time of the IMPERIAL authorotarians time...
Both in US & in Russia....
All speculation, no one knows what Trump will do. Including you Johnathan.
Trump has pretty well spelled out all his diabolical plans. If you have been listening.
It is simple, what would a fashy do? That is what trump will do.
Trump might not know either.
There was something about payment for a wall. Same idea.
He's going to make the Russians pay for a wall across ( "Is there land somewhere"? )
Still waiting for Trump’s healthcare plan 8 years after he campaigned on the wall and his fantastic healthcare plan. Beginning to think it was all 💩. 😂
Time for peace sir.
On whose terms? The same peace moscow offered Chechnya in 1997 only to break that peace in 1999?
From your lips to Putin's ears.
Deadly...peace...
