I think Sullivan only represents a larger and perhaps older group of foreign relations establishment barons. They are still struggling with the 1815 Vienna Peace Conference and European balancing of Great Powers. In these persons thinking, the Russian Far East is intimately connected to Russia in Ukraine, a Russian collapse. Nuclear deterrence…they came to the table in the Cold War and Kissinger and learned all the wrong lessons then and now.

You can't trust politicians . They are spinning rhetoric and pretend to obey principles but in fact they are just looking for a new term in power. Beside that either Democrats or Republicans politicians are controlled by corporate interests and none of them have solution . Democrats wants mingling conditional globalism and republicans real politic isolationism , but both of them will bring western world in collapse.

It's more nuanced than that. Democracy won't fall with Ukraine, but it will be weakened, and a Ukrainian victory won't mean the end Democratic degradation, but we will have removed a threat.
Russia is not the cause of democratic degradation in the west, it's been merely using it to propagate the Kremin's agenda.

After the war, Ukraine will have grown into a Super-Finland. It may not want to join NATO, if this would involve cooperating with nations that let Ukraine down during the war.
I believe the US State Department has decided to pre-empt the massive snub it had coming, anyway. The actual ‘danger’ Ukraine poses to NATO, is the near-certainty of a shift of its centre of gravity towards the East.

who would've thought it would enable Russia?
The qustion remains open who is to blame:
    - if the West is a democracy, then it's the people - far more so than the Russians who have zero say in their govt's policies
    - if the West is an oligarchy, than the media-controlling oligarchs...
The only two things I see turning the tide are both unthinkable:
    - more RU atrocities such as the recent strike on a children's hospital in Kiyv (realistic, though the price is high - but it's not like the West is paying it, right?)
    - RU actually managing to move forward at a significant pace, thus threatening the EU countries (not very realistic, and the price is equally high)

I don’t know what would happen if we had real democracy in the west, because we don’t have it.
But we do have a measure of democracy, and the people in the west voted for socialist swinery, social program to selfishly benefit themselves rather than prepare their nations for responsible financial management and self-defense.
The western swine brought it upon themselves. They are so horrible. People are completely selfish, they will sell out the future for gratification in the present.
It is that simple. They have 20 times the economic power of Russia, and steal the Russians are doing pretty well given the circumstances.
Russia saved their money for this war, that’s why they are still in it and not yet defeated. I hope they will be defeated. All of the western nations just dug bigger hole of debt, and are borrowing money to finance the war. Who will crack first?

Democracies involve the representatives that have been elected, who then proceed with policies outside the mandate they have been given for the policies they claimed in their manifestos. Even to committing atrocities. It has happened throughout history. The people of Britain didn't tell Churchill to get Bomber Harris to drop poison gas on the Kurds, as it destroyed the remnants of the Ottoman Empire. Neither did the people of the USA have any say in the dropping of two atomic bombs on Japanese cities, and there was certainly opposition at home before Blair joined Bush in the war on Iraq on the unfounded pretext of weapons of mass destruction with incredible capabilities to hit the UK. The people of democratic nations have no more say what their elected leaders do than those living under dictatorships, but they can remove those leaders more easily, and without threat to their safety.

Russias past greatness and the soul of Russia that we once admired came from the ordinary people and the warmth of their hearts , the great musicians, the great writers, and artists. I remember going to see the Moscow balalaika orchestra playing at the Colston Hall in Bristol back in the 1980's and being entranced by such beautful and soulful music. We hate Russia not just because of its war on Ukraine and the Western world, but because of what it has done to its once wonderful people whose minds have been poisoned, but not all of them thankfully.

So I do think it is big problem in Ukraine. And even now as much I hear there is lot of it. It's kind of strange that among the Ukrainian supporters people are divided into two groups - those who think there is almost no corruption and others who think there is too much of it. But almost nobody is discussing how to get rid of it. (And I do know there are some of these good people in Ukraine too) I do think that it is possible but how I don't know. A walk-through or a dissection of a few key parts of it would be excellent ammo, especially if in collaboration or in conjunction with somebody who is perhaps expert in debunking Russian propaganda. And perhaps it would be more opportune if you can identify or select a piece of propaganda or narrative that is somewhat forward-looking, say for example false Russian script that has been picked up and permeated by members of the Biden administration that could jeopardize Ukrainian accession into NATO or the EU

Beautifully presented and articulated. Because you see the acts of repression inside Russia, you have some key misunderstandings tho:
Of course, there are a bunch of nuts in Russia who would like to capture neighbouring countries, but Putin is the ultra-rational foreign policy maker who keeps them in check. He's never wanted to occupy Western Ukraine, the Baltics or Poland (He respects how much those areas would keep fighting for their independence.)
If you are willing to understand multiple (authentic) perspectives, Putin is probably the best negotiating partner, quite legalistic, doesn't break agreements like Minsk etc.
I know you're highly propagandized (both sides!), but I can explain all to you if you like - and value the authentic reassurance over rage.
We have to stop the killing of hundreds of thousands of Ukrainians *now* - and it breaks my heart to see realistically how much more land they are likely to lose in 2024.
Also, we disagree with Orban in many ways, but he is creating a valuable communications bridge between enemies - altho he considers the Russian invasion illegal (and has a personal history of fighting against Russian/Soviet occupation).
So tragically sad that liars/manipulators dominate the airwaves on both sides these days.

It would've been so easy for Ukraine's allies to prevent most of Russia's atrocities and war crimes. And it is still easy to prevent most of them going forward. With only a tiny bit more courage (or a tiny bit less cowardice), the allies need only establish and abide by a rule that the amount and type of weapons they give Ukraine -- and the restrictions they place on how and where Ukraine can use them -- depends directly on whether or not Russia fights the war with some honor and basic decency. The allies would need to communicate this rule to the Russians and tell them that, regardless of how honorably or dishonorably Russia fights the war, the allies will give Ukraine at least enough support not to lose more territory, but that minimal support will spare Russia the humiliation of an unequivocal, flat-out defeat. But if Russia continues to commit war crimes, then the allies will give more lethal weapons to Ukraine and loosen restrictions on how and where Ukraine can use them. If Russia not only continues to commit war crimes but continues to do so on a large scale, then the allies will give Ukraine enough to drive the Russians out of the occupied territory in Eastern and Southern Ukraine and, if Russia's war crimes remain widespread and monstrous, then the allies will give Ukraine enough weapons to drive Russia out of Crimea as well leaving it obvious for all to see that Russia flat-out lost the war.
