Here's the thing: I care more about seeing than people recognizing me.
Introvert solution: No eyebrows
Reason: Still be able to play video games, and people won’t be able to identify you
@@melon4738 tru
Weirdo
here's another thing, can't you just draw them back on? many people who have lost their eyebrow hairs (for many reasons) draw them on so I dont have reason to pick those unless he's talking about eyebrow muscles
It’s a misleading title. He’s just referring to them being more important for remembering faces. Im sure you knew this yet still posted this comment and I ask why?
So what you're saying that the eyebrows are important because we can see them?
... with our eyes?
Important comment 😂
YES

The title should be "Why Eyebrows are more important than you might think"

Thanks for the complete sentence. 👍
As a youtuber that is a horrible title
“why eyebrows are better than eyes at facial recongition”
There we go
Imagine a blind person tells you they’re sad they can’t see and you start saying at least you have your eyebrows😐
I like having sight
Because of you, nobody else does
-hashashin, old man mountain
Dude thats an offense to blind people dont say that 😠😠😠😠😠😠😠🤬🤬🤬👺👺👺
Same, but there are instances I wish I had no eyes.
I think we all do
imagine a blind person hearing about people considering to pick some hair over sight
Exactly, that question was retarded
It was just poorly worded. It's not about giving up the eyes' entire function, it's about giving up their expressive function. Eyebrows are more important for expression. Sight is obviously more important than expression. It was just worded too simply and should have specified "Which one would you pick for other people to not be able to see on your face?" or similar.

Oh hey Molly!

I think that's why dimples evolved as well. They're most evident when people smile, so they're like smile enhancers. They're also most evident in childhood because round, chubby cheeks make dimples more pronounced, so we read adults with dimples as cute and charming, like a child.
never thought of it that way.
I think you need some ******g sentence enhancers. Thanks Nickelodeon.

Change tittle name to “How Eyebrows Uniquely Shape Your Face”
But that wouldn't be anywhere near as Click-Bait-y
That sounds like a makeup video, not an evolutionary biology or communication science video. Wouldn't be good for algorithm. All it needs to be more accurate is to add "(for Expression)" in the middle.

I'm honestly really shocked at how much unease a lack of eyebrows causes.
It really is unnerving. Even when people shave em off for cosmetic reasons
Maybe because it’s more realistic (is the term for that “uncanny valley”?), one can lose the eyebrows for a disease, or a fire; instead, faces without eyes look just like mannequins.
@@matteopascoli I think that makes a lot of sense when you put it that way. It's almost impossible that someone would look like the "eyeless human", but you could just shave your eyebrow and look like that. Uncanny valley for sure is the right description.

I'm surprised so many people notice or that anyone at all could think people look less recognizable without eyes. I didn't even notice the presenter got rid of his brows even after he said he did. I was confused about what he was talking about.

Eyebrow:no
Forehead mustache: yes
While studying animation they taught us this exact thing, eyebrows are so expressive. We had an exercise where we had to create expressions only with eyes and eyebrows, nothing else, and it's amazing how some little differences, like the angle or the curves of the eyebrows, can make really distinctive expressions.
On the James Charles one I just went "Izzat Taylor Swift?"

I only recognised one of those faces, and that was with BOTH eyes and eyebrows. Some of them I hadn't even heard of.
(I recognised Leonardo DiCaprio)
Same. I only even knew him and Kim Kardashian at all.
So you’re saying if I have to choose between eyes and eyebrows.. I should choose eyebrows so that people can recognise me??
Someone should have showed this to jenna marbles 4 years ago
Along with the lips, eyebrows are the most expressive part of our faces. Think about it! You can tell exactly how someone is feeling based on their facial movements👍
Ya that’s in the video
Imagine everyone having no eyeballs and having eyebrows when no one could see it...
That's cool and all but I'd rather be able to see

Not gonna lie it is a really liberating thing, I think you should try it. They grow back pretty quick so don worry
@@Dr.Mrs.Pancakes yes.!
What was the exact summary of this study?
Because I'm pretty confident if two of your family members entered the living room, one had just shaved their eyebrows, the other was missing their eyes, there would be absolutely no doubt where your attention would be drawn.
We would grow to recognize people the same as we did without eyebrows... we’re just used to them that’s why it’s harder to recognize without them.
You have a harder time recognize people without eyebrows than eyes. Me thinking I can't recognize anyone without my sight
Who else couldn’t stop staring at his eyebrows?
I wouldn’t be able to recognise anyone without eyeballs.
I like seeing things.
I think I can manage with people not recognising me instantly.
the reason Greg isn't here is cause he is still having a hungover from previous vid lol

Huh, weird. I only recognized DiCaprio instantly^^
I honestly thought it was Matt Damon
I was sure about james charles, like 80% on dicaprio
I think its because dicapiro has that facial hair which is like a fancy mustache around the mouth and on the lower part of the face
Imagine Dwayne Johnson without Eyebrows 😂
Eyebrows to eyeballs:
_"It's over eyeballs, I have the High ground"_
Well I only recognised people with no eyes because I SAW THEM WITH MY EYESSSSS.

TLDR: the eyebrows are more important because they absorb any interfering object such as baseballs.
They should conduct the same study, but instead of eliminating the eye brows and eyes, replacing them with other people's
I would have a much harder time recognizing people without my eyeballs
Always thought shaved or thin eyebrows were a misguided beauty trend
Problem is without eyes it won’t even matter whether or not you have eyebrows.
You should see my dog Dokie his eyebrows go so high when we bring his ball 😂😂it's so funny we even shared it
I feel like eyebrows have become even more important for communication with everyone wearing facemasks 😷
You didn’t even give me a chance to guess the faces of the celebrities wtf

Wind and Brass players' eyesbrows do interesting things as we play. So, do singers' eyebrows. I remember being in college and my wind ensemble director made a comment about a passage the horn section was playing, because when we went to play the high notes, we all raised our eyebrows at the same time without even realizing it. My best friend in the section also wore her hair in a bun. Apparently, when she would go to play high notes, not only would her eyebrows raise, but the bun her hair was in would also move. Some of the stuff you said about eyebrows and blind people as well as the part about dogs reminded me of all of that.
I love it when Mitch makes a video without Greg for some reason.

That's why Shane Dawson has big eyebrows, cause he's an empath! 3:06
Traumatized people with poor sense of appropriateness and weak/confused boundaries do tend to be very emotionally sensitive and sometimes oddly emotionally intelligent, yeah
Already an invalid argument when you throw in the James Charles curveball. Even when you put in his brows I still think it’s a woman.
I never thought I’d be so interested in a video about eyebrows
I remember watching you guys when I was in middle school (over 8 years ago!) so happy to see you guys grow but definitely miss the drawings :)
As an artist, I know this. If you want to shorthand a face and have it read as a real face, like if you're drawing small figures in the background, all you need is a nose and eyebrows, a mouth helps but isn't necessary. Actually, at a pinch, just a nose works. If you draw eyes but no eyebrows it looks like a cartoon or an emoji, not a person.
Nahh I think eyes is more important because you can replace the eye brows with fake ones and without eyes you can't see XD
