I know, Everyone is giving me S**t for not taking a shot. The biggest WSB was the first one that bolted. I wanted one that size. I should have shot the one at 2:10 but got greedy thinking I could shoot a bigger one. Stoked I didn't since I was able to shoot the Yellowtail. I have five WSB in the freezer already but no Yellowtail. I've dove three times this season and haven't seen any. Now I'm watching these vids to stay motivated.
Great footage - nice Yellowtail! It's good to see you pass on those fish and hunt what you want. It's good to be picky (unless your hungry for something for the table). Yes, you could have had any of those fish but, it's not about shooting every fish you come across! good hunting
Yes, I tie right to the shaft. it's just easier to cut it then try to unwrap it from the kelp every time. I've heard some guys say they've had thier line get tangled in then bands. I've never had that happen.
in this particular video the first White Sea Bass I see is over 60 pounds. I spent the rest of the video trying to find a 60+ pounder. I end up shooting the Yellowtail. When I hopped back in to try for WSB they were all gone. Super fun dive though.
what type of reel is that? looks awesome I'm having a 61" wsb gun built right now and am still toying the pros and cons of the forever debated reel vs float line and which I'm going to stick with.
It's a replica of a reel Wally Potts made in La Jolla CA years ago. I make them now. I have a demo of the reel on my youtube channel. I sell them for $200.
