I wish the craftsman v series had a more comprehensive set. That holder is nice, price isn't terrible. They just need 10 piece metric and standard sets.
Great culmination to the series on ratcheting wrenches. Keep up the great work. You'll hit 1K subscribers soon! Looking forward to the series on long pattern ratcheting wrenches.
The blackhawks are one of my favorites, no doubt!! you will be happy with them!! thanks for supporting the channel my friend!! stay tuned for more good tools!!
Great series Jeff, i have duratech, husky and Gearwrench with some SATA wrenches mixed in. I like the olsa and Blackhawk sets, would love to get them but i have been eyeing the icons also. Can't wait for the next series...
Thanks my friend for joining in and your support!! icons are my newest set thier long pattern, which is great for reach and leverage!! i didnt do a review on gearwrench, because i was trying to do lesser known brands!!! stay tuned!!
Probably a silly question but would you Recommend as a fender cover I don’t have a lot of tools, but I try to do what I can on my own truck but it’s a nice truck and I don’t wanna scratch it up
Great info Jeff! Bought a set of the Gearwrench 16 piece metric almost two years ago and haven't used them yet(ouch!). Mainly work on my four motorcycles and lawn equipment and the bulk of the ratcheting head just doesn't make me want to grab one. However, I can see using these for automotive/industrial would make sense. I am looking forward towards a longer pattern double box ratcheting wrench comparison as those might fit my needs better.
Great thorough reviews. I've been fan of Tekton's ratchet wrenches, but with them getting rid of the six point design, I may come back to these videos when it's time for a new set!
Hi nathan the starwork and olsa are both 6 point!! starwork has reverse lever and 15' offset which are nice!!, the olsa doesnt but olsa has rugged design!! 6 point getting harder to find, alot of brands are not making them anymore!!
Thanks cam!! you tube is hard to get subs!! youll get a big video thats takes off any youll get a big bunch of subs in a few days then youll do a bunch of videos that get a few!! youll also see your sub count go backwards -,that will frustrate you!!! i know first hand, lol!! but the main thing is if you like doing it and keep at it youll grow!!!! take care my friend!!
I watched the videos leading up to this video. Great job, keep up the good work! You’ll hit a grand before you know it! How about a video on torque wrenches?
Hi jhonny thats another good idea!! ill try to do it in near future,as the channel grows i get lots of request!! wich is good thing for the channel!! hang in thier, i got few more request to get through first!! thanks for your support!!
Have you tried out the Husky branded ratcheting wrenches. Every blackfriday they go on sale for a crazy low price and am wondering if they're worth it or if I should just jump to something nicer like the Craftsmans or a gearwrench set
Hi Jeff. I am looking for a good flank cut set of wrenches. Astro had some a few years ago but now all I see is snap on. What do you think kind of the best budget set of wrenches is for rounded bolts!
OLSA makes some for rounded bolts, there a specialty wrench set, only for busting loose, not tighting!! capri makes one also i believe!! if your talking about a anti slip feature in combo wrenches icon is good!!
Kinda wild all the different brands of ratchet wrenches they have these days. And funny that you have so many different sets but no Gearwrench, the inventors of this style. First time I used a set this style i was working for a buddy of mine. He had GW and i thought they were a life changer. I soon went out and got a set myself. Now i have like 8 sets of GW. Need to compare GW to these other brands. Great videos in this series. It won't take you long to hit that 1k mark. It took me over a year and 1 video to go viral to get me there.
Hi larry, yea i did own gearwrench set long time ago, got stolen when i got divorced!! thier are so many brands its crazy!! i tried to show ones not known as much!! you tube is tuff to get subs!! your channel does good, you have good content!! take care!!
Great series. New sub here although I watched a lot of you videos. You should of compared snap on to the bunch because if you are going to have 2-3 sets of mid grades maybe grab a premium set. I’d also like to know if you would prefer the olsa over the gearwrench thanks.
Yea thats great idea, i will be buying some more snap on in the coming months!! the olsa are nice mid grade set, they dont have offset or reverse lever wich i tipicaly like!! but if that not problem for you, thier a good choise!! gearwrench with the offset and reverse lever i like a little more!! that being said the olsa lookto be very strong design!!
Got a set of the ironcubes for my work box (Industrial Maintenance) only used them a handful of times seems alright. Sure there is a better bang for the buck somewhere though.
First 👊 Oorah❗....Thank you jeff for this great informative series, I really enjoyed it. Please do more series. I like blackhawk but I think I might go icon with a coupon.
From 44 years of experence using many brands, sata are average tools at best for example, they ok tools, the wrenches wont fit the fastner as well, professionas wont use them!! now this is only my opinion,we all have are own opinion!!
Looks like SATA is the original Gearwrench 72 tooth. I’ve had the Craftsman non reversible for at least 6 years now and they’ve held up just fine. I’ve got the Williams and the Milwaukee as well. There’s really only a few companies making ratchet wrenches overseas, they get rebranded often. My old blackhawks are my favorites, Dad swiped them 20 years ago and he still uses them almost daily.
Yea sata does look like early gearwrench. williams are big head but nice!! and my old blackhawks are my favorite as well!! new icon are nice also!! hope all is well frosty!!
I dont own any wrenches yet, but need to buy my first set to work on my snowblower. Is metric or sae used mostly? There’s soo many sizes I don’t know which set to buy. I am hoping to do a lot of diy around the house since I’m a new homeowner. Thanks!
I havent done regular combo wrench series yet! ive done, long double box, ratchet wrenches!! being your just starting out,you need alot of tools! i can help you!! i have 44 years of experience!! your going to need basic socket sets, metric and sae!! a few ratchets,1/4 drive,3/8 drive,1/2 drive!! combo wrench set, metric and sae!! screwdrivers, hammers, pliers and so on!! i tell you a good brand thats affordable and decent quality,DURATECH!!!! is great for home owner or weekend warrior!! there in alot of my videos!! if you need more info on something let me know, ill help you!!! stay tuned!!
I have used blue point,i really liked them, they were not mine though!! never tried tekton, when they come out with thier new design end of year,i will buy them to try!!
I started out with a Craftsman set of double box ends then the Snap-On laminated style double box ends, in the late 90s i picked up the GearWrench combination set followed shortly thereafter with their flex head set. Back in the day those GearWrenches were definitely a game changer. Now I really like the latest Snap-Ons, the dual 80s they are very smooth and fine toothed. I have a hodge podge of one offs bought for specific jobs and a few odd balls picked up at garage sales and Flea Markets. A few that have stood out for me have been Proto and some old Huskys, I've an old Husky 3/4" that has been bouncing around in an old tractor box for maybe 20 years, that has seen some abuse, and is still going strong. I also have Kobalt set that i picked up a few years ago for stupid cheap when Lowes was clearing them out to make way for Craftsman, don't really care for them. I do have to mention that the newer GearWrenches don't seem as well made as the first run of them. Thank you for sharing your thoughts. 👍
Yes snap on makes really nice wrenches thats for sure, dont own any yet but that could change!! sounds like you have good knowledge about tools and use them alot!! thier are so many different brands its crazy!! it wasnt always like that!! you like proto they make some nice wrenches and ratchets!! most of my tools are middle road and some higher brands,a few snap on tools, old sk,old craftsman, some williams!! thanks for sharing your thoughts on ratchet wrenches!!! i love hearing what you guys like and use!! stay tuned for more good stuff!!
I appreciate this video. Ive been trying to find a solid comparison video. I specifically wanted offset selectable ratcheting wrench set no skips(craftsman 😮💨) I believe ill go with the icons because of the length and ease of warranty. Itc cupon could have them for under $130. The Blackhawks and Williams do seem great tho.
Hi dave thanks for the feedback!!! im just going buy my personal experence with tools,i realize its only my opinion!! some of tools i havent used!!! altough if i keep them i always do a follow up down the road to see how they hold up!!! but sometimes i give them away to you guys (subscribers) or my personal friends!!! thanks again!!
Hello again, Jeff Thank you for another Great Video 👍 You surprised me, No Gearwrench in the lineup. My oh my. Wasn't GW the one who started the ratchet wrenches. It was 1997-98 when I saw them in a auto parts store and bought a set. My thoughts on them, I'll keep to myself. Again thank you 👌
I had for 9 months now, they are a good set!! so my early thinking on them stays the same!! been using tools for 45 years, usually can tell by first picking up a tool if its quality or junk!!! thanks for watching!!
The truth is I have every type of ratchet wrench but once I'm under the car I'm using a regular open n to lazy to get up and get the wrench I rather lay there and turn 30 times 😂
Hi bobit i just didnt have good luck with them, the set had usa and china mixed together, and 11/16 locked up!! you may have had good luck with them! other people have had bad luck with them as well!! they are up thier in price as well!! the metric set is$400, i try to give honest review, from my experience with them!! thanks for joining in!! stay tuned!!
@@jefftovani5535 yeah i don’t have x frame just because they are not reversible. They are pricey. If i fork out that kind of money, might as well buy snap on. The capri and carlyle 6 points are identical beside the finish. I got the Tone and mac 6 points with ring tension to hold the nut. I got same icon set as yours for $110 on ebay new, also icon stubby flex head for $85 ebay. So cheap so i bought it. I don’t even know why i got so much. 😅
You got some nice sets my friend, nothing wrong with having nice tools!! when you use them and they save you money it always puts a smile on your face!! i have more then i need as well, but i keep buying them, lol!!
I can grab a 7 piece snap on sae set for 492.00 Canadian vs Blackhawk 345 for a 7 piece set. This is why I think snap on should of been in the review. Just my opinion
Hi gersk, yea i didnt have any tool truck branda i know!! thanks for the suggestion!! i plan on buying some more snap on in the future!! i own very little so far!! most of my videos are low, mid, and only few high end!! but im always trying to get better with good info across the board!! stay tuned, and thanks again for your thoughts!!
Yep it’s a damn shame about SK. I absolutely love their USA made tools. I have thousands upon thousands of dollars of SK Tools. Not buying anymore because their prices are outrageous for Chinesium. I like my craftsman v series wrench set. Used them today actually.
Same here i love old usa sk tools!!! i got some v series craftsman coming up in the long double box flex head ratcheting wrench series, you wont want to miss that series!!
Check out the play list for more info on the individual items!!
Couldn't just put a link for the item huh?
