I understood every word. I appreciate your hard work and dedication to educating people about technology. Might I add that your audio recording was flawless.
This is a great vid. I ended up here because my spring water taste and smells bad after being stored in the 5 gallon PET bottles. I was told an ozone generator can fix that. Great vid. Very educational.
You can produce liquid ozone similar to how you produce liquid oxygen. By passing ozonated oxygen through a collector which is chilled to liquid nitrogen temperatures, you can obtain an oxygen/ozone condensate. Once a sufficient amount of liquid is collected, the oxygen is allowed to boil off by slowly letting the temperature rise, leaving almost pure liquid ozone behind. We did this in our research lab, but I cannot remember what the half-life is for the transition back to oxygen.
It is a dark purple blue liquid and is very unstable. It is similar to nitroglycerin in aensitivity, and if it reaches boiling it goes off on its own. Chemical Force channel shows liquid ozone and its chemical properties, his was about 70% pure as well. 😲
Hi, @11:31 you should add a insulator in space between power supply and HV generator: due HV transformer: should an arc occour, it will be only in your HV generator (which will fry something and then, blow the fuse) and not between HV generator and your power supply (which will have unpredictable effects). Also, i suggest you to add more insulation between HV cables and metallic objects.
Thanx for sharing your experience. Please keep in mind that; high voltage corona discharge also produces infrared, ultraviolet, Gamma, and X radiation. So dont forget to protect yourself!
I have a PLA rack in my sterilization cabinet. It has been used for about 150-300 hours at about 100-150ppm and few hours at 1000-2500ppm ozone level. All at room temperature but at high humidity (RH 80% or more) that makes ozone more reactive. It has held up surprisingly well. My ozone sensor module (MQ-131) has not taken those levels without changing it a couple times. (and some nitrous oxides too, because I make ozone from air). If my light 2mm rods in a grill like rack have not fallen apart, larger end caps should take quite a lot more abuse.
What i found works well is the center tube is a thin glass tube stuffed with steel wool then a thin gap with an outer tube that fits the inner one with about 3mm gap. If the outer tube is made of metal then it must be ozone resistant, otherwise wrap the outer tube with foil. Feed with dry oxygen gas and drive with high frequency AC. Also works well for gas phase chlorination etc 🤓
Great video, very clear. Pity about the first high voltage supply, I have a similar power supply for my ozone generator which is also a tube similar to yours (I didn’t make it, just bought the parts and assembled it) so I think it should have worked. You can get oxygen from electrolysis of NaOH solution in water depending on how much ozone you need. Have you made your own concentrator? You could run your gas through both tubes to expose it to more plasma. Have the entry point on one side in the outer tube, exit on the same side from the inner tube after gas flowed down one tube and back through the other.
Thank you! Yes, I think I will change the design and let the gas flow around and also trough the inner tube to get more ozone. I bought a used concentrator. It's the same one I use for my glassblowing.
I found your channel by accident. And just delighted with your hobbies. The synthesis of cesium, rubidium and compounds of these metals is great. About the ozone. There is an interesting method for obtaining ozone by electrolysis of chloric acid during cooling. Would you like to try this method? In general, I am with great respect for people who have such hobbies. Since I myself am like it. Only my interests in organic chemistry. I was not very lucky with the place of birth. I live in Russia. You understand probably that now this is not the best place on Earth. Good luck in the experiments!
Warum sind die Elektroden Gitter im direkten Kontakt mit dem Rohr? Ist ein kleiner Luft Puffer zwischen Dielektrikum nicht besser? Also z. B innen Rohr in end anliegend und aussen eigenen Abstand von paar mm?
Aren't you wasting half the corona? since it is AC it might be better to have air flow around the outer channel then through the middle before exiting?
Yes you are absolutely right. It would be better to direct the gass around and through the inner tube. I didn't think about that when I was building it. If I need the ozon generator in the future I will print new caps for the ends that do exactly what you mentioned.
Fascinating! You make it look easy. Be sure to get a good lawyer and buy a patent on your simple design, after you titrate that is. You accent makes English speakers feel, well, rather simple for not thinking of this themselves, so no need to apologize.

I have always wondered: does it not make sense to have the central tube continuously vented in the same path? ‘It’ produces ozone on that side too right? Seems that potential is now lost?
I was wondering because I work at a Hilton hotel and whenever a room smells (either reeking of cigarette smoke, or room smelling bad, anytime a room smells unpleasant we use this machine to make room smell better) and wanted to understand how this machine works
